Really excited, this is going to be my first event and my first 40k tournament! Probably going to be a lot different than just playing at the FLGS with friends.

Question, for people signed up for the Championship, do we get our tournament Maelstrom deck before the event or should we print out our own version of the cards for play?

Relatively sure entry into the champs provides you with a copy of the deck in your swag bag. I might have already traded mine off for a box of mike and ikes though. It will be a blast and I hope you enjoy it and get to experience all that adepticon has to offer.

I have a couple of quick questions. I looked over the addendum and the championship slates. I didn't see anything prohibiting units with experimental rules. Did I just miss it? Or are they allowed? My first suspicion is, they are not but hey, you never know. ..

The other question is, if I choose a unit from the Dark Harvest list (not the detachment), can I still use the 5th edition rules for that unit? Not including the wargear. I saw the update on that. Just the old USR option, as long as that unit remains unique (0-1)? For example, If pick up a Dark Harvest Overlord, can I purchase Phaeron?

Thanks in advance.

Forge World units must be on the approved forge world list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0Auucp87Ggqf0dEhaNnYzS3VXM1p6MzVvNzdTZXVYWGc&output=html

Experimental rules are never 40k Legal, hence the stamp "Experimental Rules; Imperial Sanction not yet granted." You do not have permission to use those rules until they have been vetted
As to your 2nd question;

"Imperial Armour units (Forge World) are allowed in this event and are considered to be part of the relevant Codex or faction, however due to the scarce nature of these units; each unit is considered unique (0-1) and may only be taken
once per player. Imperial Armour weapon/turret options for a codex unit are NOT bound by this 0-1 limitation. In ALL cases, only the most currently published rules for any particular unit will be allowed."

a) the Maynarkh Overlord is not listed on the allowed Necron units spreadsheet.
b) Even as a Forge World unit, and even if it was allowed, it would be considered part of the new Necron codex which does not have current rules for Phaeron. To do so would appear as if you are trying to game the system by including a unit with a rule that no longer exists for personal gain.

Yep, I forgot about the approved list. That settles that. Thanks.

Well, that's elementary, my dear Watson. Why else do WBAMN lists exist in the tournament scene? It's not for pageantry, lol!

There is a difference between making a list within the confines of the tournament rules, and outright attempting to circumvent those rules for an advantage.

One makes you a good player. The other makes you the guy trying to embark the relic into a building on a run move during the shooting phase.

Not sure if this is the right place to promote this but….

The club is running a large-scale Mech Attack game at Adepticon on Saturday at 10AM. We got together on Thursday to playtest our scenario for Adepticon. I'm still prepping few models, but here's a good preview of the event . If you like big 28mm scale Mecha, there's still plenty of space and no fee. Sign up day-of (Saturday @ 10AM) or just stop by and say hello!

What's Adepticon ruling on the following :

First Turn Charge Scarab Farm.

Here's the referenced post from dakka on how it works.

Doesn't the created scarab have to be placed within 6" of the spyder that spawned it? I believe that is part of the language change from the old book to this one.

Yes that is correct, if you read the post which is in pictures he explains exactly how it works. The reason it works is that Spyders can move an then spawn Scarabs.

What ruling would you expect to be made?

The rulebook even says:

“We’ve found that 12" away from the centre line works best; this ensures that the armies will start at least 24" apart, which makes first turn charges hard to achieve while still giving you enough space on a typical table to deploy your army”

So they clearly acknowledge that first turn charges are possible, and did not make any effort to prevent them like they did in 6th edition. So what type of ruling could you envision there being on this made at the Adepticon level?

From what I've heard, it's free to walk though look and shop, but any kind of gaming requires a day pass.

As long as their is still space available. Many events have limited space.

The pass allows you to freely participate in demos and other open events.
