Bah missed the unwieldy part I have been using an ap3 sword for a while and although its funny beating terminators with it "the hard way" imagining a laughing viking, it would have been nice top strike first and drop em quick.

Well, they didn't post that it was unwieldy, but the 'axe' part of it kinda makes me assume that. If it isn't than he might not be horrible. The low save still hurts though.

Sagas being random would be massively annoying and stupid, especially in linked games or army fluff.
Once, Wolf Lord Olaf Engir was a Warrior Born, hackinghis way through the enemy ranks to where the fighting was thickest, never shirking a challenge or resorting to underhand tactics.
This week, Olaf will be mostly Outflanking...
And we better not lose BP/BG/ CCW either. Make it a 1ppm paid upgrade a la Characadons or CSM, but leave the option in.

Stern Iron Priest with Thrall Bodyguard

So, SW might be one week away and we really dont know anything about it. But then again, two weeks ago no one had a clue about the storm claw box.
All we really have is some speculation that thousand sons will get a proper beating in the next dwarf.
If they pit the new wolfes against thousand sons and get a fair fight, im worried aboit the new dex.
If they however display some way for wolfes to counter an all tzeench summoning list, Im more intrigued.
Edit: by the way, the next part of sanctus reach, hour of the wolf, might be wolves against thousand sons. So the teaser might well be a hint of a campaign book rather than a new codex, right?

I know what you mean about Uber grit, I still hope we haven't lost it. Head strong wasn't really a problem because you could always get around it.
Like in the new ork codex all units come as dataslates, so it should be no problem using him as HQ. Maybe you can even "build" your own Krom with the current SW codex, but I don't have it to make sure. He costs the same as a Ironclad Dread his stats are 6/5/4/4/3/5/4/10, 3+. He is quipped with a Boltpistol,Frag and Krak grenads and the belt of russ (4++). also he has a wyrmtalon, his +2,AP2 mastercrafted axe. USR: ATSKNF,counterattack, furious charge, acute senses, stubborn. His warlord trait is (translated) "Saga of the born warrior": He has to make challenges and accept them whenever possible but can reroll all to hit rolls if he fights in a challenge.
The rules for Krom are covered in the other post, so I'll give you those for Grukk: 5pts cheaper than Krom, 5/2/5/5/3/4/4/9,4+. He has a (excuse me if I don't properly translate the ork weapons, I don't know all their english names) combigun with bazooka, a squig that lets him reroll 1 to hit die in close combat, a bosspole and stikkbombz along with his special Gitripper, a x2,AP2, rending energy claw. USR are green horde, ere we go, furious charge, feel no pain and can call a Waagh. His warlor trait is "roaring tyran" which lets him and all friendly ork units in 12" reroll failed morale or pinning tests.
Judging by the language issues, this seems to be a cut and paste reply from some other source, so its not as reliable as the guy actually having seen it
Right I have the box set sat in front of me.
The rules for Krom are correct.
What I am worried about though is that the grey hunters don't have BP, BG and CCW as standard! By Russ I hope this isn't the case when the codex comes out!
Assuming that special weapons have stayed at standard prices, it would appear that GH are now 16pts, but have lost the free Boltgun/Chainsword as well (hopefully they're +1pt for the option at least). Hmm... we'll see what other changes are in store, but 16pts for Grey Hunters sounds fair enough (although +1pt for a bolter or chainsword would be very welcome).
Blood Claws are 14pts. Honestly I could have seen them getting another point shaved off if they haven't changed them in any other ways.
Can't be certain about the Wolf Guard's costs, too many variables in their case to make a proper estimation. However, the squad averages 46pts each... and considering the loadouts, it looks like Space Wolf Termies might actually be competitively priced now! Hooray, no more worries about 700pts+ of useless!

It will depend on how they reprice special weapons, but assuming they go up (as they should), I dont see Grey Hunters being worth 16ppm without bolter/bp/ccw. If special weapon prices dont change (and again, they should), then 16ppm is fine.

It is likely that the not having to pay for the second one will be getting cut out and Grey Hunters will sadly become just another tactical squad. Only difference being that they get two mid range weapons instead of one mid and one heavy. Which by the way is one of the dumbest things in the world in my opinion about tacticals having the heavy weapon. I could never see a point when my tacticals would ever be sitting on their butts long enough to use anything, but a heavy flamer. Pretty solidly a waste of mobility the way all the vanilla marines do it.

Combat squads are a thing though more often than not 1 missle launcher or lascannon is not such a huge thing when you have dev squads. Also combat squading does have its advantages though also major weaknesses that include less durability of the individual units and giving up more points in a kill point game. I haven't really ever been a fan of them.

GHs/ BCs have a sergeant type character now with an additional attack. Asssuming those will cost +10 points like for vanillas, this sheds a totally different light on the PPM costs. Someone on warseer mentioned all GHs have BP/ CCW, but only those without special equipment have bolters.

From Warseer gwharsh41
I took some time staring at the unboxing video, here are my findings on the new SW.
So there is a video of some unboxing of stormclaw [1] . In the video, the guy flips through the pages a bit, this shows us the points, upgrades and special rules on the units.
Here is what I gathered from it all.
It seems that SW now have standard Sgt upgrades. I am assuming this is 10pt, like other space marine chapters. Even wolf guard seem to have this, though the Sgt upgrade has nothing aside from (character) different from normal WG.
* Grey hunters seem to remain at the same point cost. They have the same special rules. Their wargear however I cannot really tell. It seems like they still have the same loadout. All come with CC wep and BP, one also has a bolt gun, so they may all have the bolter and just replaced it with special equipment. Seems like they dont have the CSM style "1pt bolter", as the unit is not a strange number and only 1 shows to have a bolter.
* Blood claws again, basing info on the 10pt sgt upgrade, blood claws are now 3pt cheaper. Lost the crazy leadership test or no shooting and gained RAGE!!!
* Wolf Guard with the loadout used in the scenario are 15pt less than wolf guard used in the current box. Combine that with the Sgt upgrade and we are looking at 5pt less per model, most likely taken out of the TDA cost. Seems to put us on par with SM TDA for cost.
* Wolf Lords Dramatic cost decrease, it is hard to compare to SM dudes as orbital bombardment and all, plus wargear differences. I can say that a Wolf lord with frost axe and belt of russ is currently 20pt more than this dude. This guy has furious charge and a bonus weapon skill to top him off. This also does not include the saga, as they have drastically changed it seems.
* All units in the box have ATSKNF, Counter attack and Acute senses (really on acute senses? Maybe we get some more outflank possibilities..)
* Frost axes and swords remain unchanged in profile.
* TDA for SW can now deepstrike, as the wargear section states so.
That is all I could gather, it might all be right, it could all be a horrible ruse from GW. Either or, I like the way it is heading. Blood claws might become usable! Considering that 15 of them is possibly only 180pt and will put out 60 attacks, that ins't all too shabby. Especially if you can prescience them! I wonder if the jump/bike variants will be more than 3pt off.

Don't have a rulebook on hand, can anyone give me a brief head's up on what the Rage special rule is? Blood claws are starting to sound very much many interesting. And hopefully the Headstrong rule is gone. Fingers crossed they can get up to BS/ WS 4. I still don't understand how they can justify making them the level they did.
I'm not sure but it almost sounds like gwharsh41 is talking about the Grey Hunters literally only coming with one bolter, not that there's only the one. I really do enjoy being able to rapid fire and then get that extra attack in CC. I like when my friends shoot me that small "I hate you for this" glare
Bit gutted if the Sagas get changed but I'm sure I'll get over it with some of these other goodies like deepstriking Wolf Guard Termis

Or these costs are unique to the boxset scenarios and completely unrelated to the new codex?
Panic...
In the past, DV/ AOBR, they've been pretty close though, right?

Lol, if they do SW vs. Thousand Sons you know it's gonna be that idiot's "Brotherhood of Dust" army led by Ahriman.. Apparently that's GW's idea of a Thousand Sons army.
