There are so many cool things they could have done with the idea of enhancing your brain - noticing things that other people don't notice, being able to learn things faster, process information more efficiently, think of strategies that other people would never consider...

Instead they chose to give her Mighty Morphin' super powers. The scientific terminology was very questionable. It started off cool with all of the nature photography but the movie itself was a real let-down.

It felt a bit like an American Akira...anybody else see it?

It's a movie about one of the most widely known myths in popular culture.

I expect it to be disappointing

In a Luc Besson action film? Why I am shocked!

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Both the wife and I were very "what just happened?" She didn't like the whole lets mock God thing.

I liked the dino charging her.

The premise of the movie just irritates me too much for me to give it the time of day. Which is weird, because normally super heroics and science fiction don't annoy me at all.

Same for me.

Like the idea that North Korea will invade the US, some things are just so obnoxious or stupid from the get go I can't get into them.

A scene towards the end replicating Michelangelo's God and Adam.

Naw, I'm going to skip that one.

Movie pisses me off because it perpetuates that stupid myth about "oh you only use 10% of your brain HYURRDURR".

Fun fact: The origin of that 'fact' is from a an offhand remark at a cocktail party. True story.

I think the idea is not that we only use 10% of the mass of our brain (which is provably false) but that we are only using 10% of our potential. Which is different and very super-heroey / sci-fi.

I love how many people have condemned it without seeing it just based off of that.

For me, it's ScarJo and Luc Besson, I'll definitely see it when it goes to DVD.

Jeez. Watched the trailer, read the plot summary on wikipedia... and face palmed. The whole premise sounds rather stupid.

As Nuggz said, this had some interesting potential but the whole plot just sounds really absurd.

You know that a movie plot is absolutely horrific when my wife starts facepalming before I do.

I saw the Lucy a while back and was quite uninspired by it. While the plot in general was very good the super duper magic powers just took all of the realism out of the movie for me.

If you are looking for a movie with a similar theme I highly recommend watching Limitless which is far more believable and engaging to the audience.

This totally is why I refuse to see it. Once I saw them plop out that turd in the dialogue, I was like.. nope.

I heard Morgan Freeman got almost no screen time and that it sucked by people I trust. Plus, while ScarJo is easy on the eyes, she's a bad actress. That's a whole helluva lotta reasons to shout "do not want"!!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I'm not sure I agree with ScarJo being a bad actress I mean I like he performance as Black Widow and she's been in several well-respected movies like Chef, Her, Under the Skin, Lost in Translation, etc.

Her performance was decent given her role. The plotline was what let it down.

Spoiler:
I didn't expect the onging Asian pursuit. That seemed really out of place in this.

Frankly Babylon 5's Mind War was a much better plotline (psychokinetic is messed with genetically to develop super psykers and he keeps getting better until finally he becomes a being of pure energy and thought) or for that matter Mr. Manhatten.

ScarJo is a decent actress, but she seems to pick poor roles (although lucrative, I imagine, in the case of Marvel). She was very solid in Don Jon, We Bought A Zoo, and - this is going back a ways - Ghost World.

In retrospect only being able to come up with 3 good roles in a career spanning 20 years is sort of making me reconsider my defense.

I liked her in Lost in Translation. Its just felt like all the actors were underutilized in this one.

It would be good to see her in a role she had to really stretch and show emotion in.
