This is getting me confused. I should go read that ME3 thread. But I will not, it certainly contains lots of spoilers.

There was a large outcry, the situation was very similar to the one we currently faced.

The thread I wrote was me comparing it Lovecraftian whore. As the ending me think about lovecraft and how he ended his stories.

But we are getting off track

Man OT you really like it when I rant.

What is this stuff about the ending of Mass Effect 3 that has been mentioned a bunch of time?

When ME3 first released, it received rave reviews from critics, while many fans complained about the game, namely it's ending. It developed into this huge stink about 'false advertising' and 'EA lied to us.' Several critics and reviewers at the time referred to gamers as 'entitled brats' at the time.

Honestly, in that situation I agreed with them. Yeah, the ending sucked. Boo hoo. Get over it. ME2 was dreadful what were you expecting? *raises the blast shields*

Loved all 3 games. I even got what they were going for with ME3. Possibly because I was paying attention to the whole tone of the game that it all just clicked with me. An possibly because I've learned through my line of work that no matter what you do some times it doesn't go the way it was supposed to or that it wasn't enough.

Now back OT. As someone that is seeing this whole little slap fight from the lurking zone. I for the life of me can not find what the big deal is. I really have yet to see one concise reason for any of this that doesn't look at best childish (not trying to insult anybody here).

Seriously though tolerance of intolerance is cowardice. Is there lots of sexism in gaming...yes there is...does it need to go...YES it does. No hey but its cool you don't have to play it stuff. Really that isn't exactly acceptable. I mean many gamers come from a background of experiencing bullying. Yet as soon as they get the chance they love to say "toughen up ****" as if that was acceptable when they experienced it. It never ceases to amaze me how gamers can be build hierarchies and bully each other. If you say that bullying somebody is cool because nobody got all offended when we did it to somebody else that isn't okay. Neither case is okay it just isn't.

ehhhhh, but what the hell do I know? This whole thing has got me confused.

....I need a new Elder Scrolls game....

I found Painkiller too misogynistic, particularly Battle Out Of Hell with the nurse enemies, not to mention Eve

Wait,
Spoiler:
there is a story
?
I am playing Hell and Damnation, apparently from the review they decided to make a new storyline by reusing all the previous cutscenes and changing the dialogue. It is just as bad as you can imagine. But damn that stake thrower feels good!

Honestly, I would not mind if they had replace Daniel by some Danielle. For all we see of him…

You are missing the point. Painkiller. Story. Already, nobody cares!
And it is an awesome game. With awesome visuals, awesome gameplay, the weapons have an awesome feel to them, and awesome music on top of that. It is just pretty old school, that is why the story is useless. Doom-style.

I was extracting the urine on the current negative view on the Damsel in Distress trope. The game was fine, enjoyable even

Basically this. They could have removed the plot entirely and the game wouldn't have suffered.

Wha, listening to this youtube video made me want to extract the soundtrack from the game, so I went to the game folder in my Steam library… and discover there was a “Digital Extras” folder, with an artbook, a making of, some pdf for posters, and the soundstrack in mp3 with a booklet that contains some lyrics/ Damn awesome!

Now I am damn nostalgic of that time where video games were all about painting the walls red with the blood of demons (the ultimate acceptable target, beats even nazi, as doom proved after Wolfenstein), no story, no politics, no cover, no reloading, basically infinite inventory!

Yeah he's a nutter, he believes that women should freely be able to kill men. So it's not exactly hard to believe he'd advocate for a 10 year old male child to be beaten to death.

Wow, that brought back memories of playing King's Quest freaking 4 on old 486 back in the day. It was certainly the first KQ game I played, and probably one of the first graphical games I played. Rosella was a strong female character, and didn't need fanfare or someone to tell you. "Oh no, my dad's sick, and no one else is doing anything about it. Time to chase some fairy queen into crazy terrible murder land to get a cure for him because I give zero feths."

What an awesome game.

Was that the one where you needed the mint leaf to subdue the Genie at the end of the game? Yeah I forgot to grab that damn mint stuff and never beat the game :(

Also, I played Depression Quest tonight, sweet jesus it's a terrible game. Calling it a game is an insult to "games" like Duke Nukem Forever. It's a text-based simulation, and it's terrible. I get what Zoe and team were trying to do, but it was terrible.

It kind of angers me this thing actually happened.

I mean there is a new website that just popped up from this and it was created by gamers to review games, but will refuse outside influence and instead will review games. It was actually called gamers gate. And seeing how many people signed up for it is quite interesting.

I mean we gained a new media source that will try to remain unbiased as they will keep it as a hobby to write about games and maintain their real life jobs. Which is quite interesting really.

I was thinking earlier that this did open the door for some enterprising, opportunistic person to start up an independent site for that very purpose. Glad to see that someone did it.

That was KQ VI. Also a masterpiece, but had a MALE PROTAGONIST

IV had the evil fairy queen who took some macguffin (forget what, it was a long time ago) from the good one, and when you tried to get it back, she tried to force you into marriage with her son, and so you fething murder her like a boss who gives zero gaks, and then return the thingy to the good queen, and then she gets down to business fixing things.
