But you can't play video games on it? Do you kids even watch TV any more? Seriously? The Boy almost never did and GC sure doesn't. They may watch a series on HULU or netflix, but rarely on an actual...TV.

On a more serious note, get the hell out of there as soon as you possibly can. While it's important to be serious about your studies, you'll come to learn that the social aspect is just as important, if not more important in some cases. Once you actually get your degree, most jobs won't even care about your GPA (and let's face it, most people aren't strikingly good at their jobs anyway), but what they will care about is your ability to work with and interact with a group of other people. Spending the next five years locked up in a room with a bunch of overpriced textbooks will not teach you that. If you really need to get some studying done, you can go to the library, and most dorms, regardless of party status, will almost completely shut down during testing periods anyway.
Additionally, I strongly suggest taking some class(es) about public speaking.

But have seen some strange crap in dorms.
every time I see a banana, furby, shaving cream or a stress ball I have flash backs.

Honestly, I'd suggest getting out now, rather than later. Sure, it may only be 7 weeks, but those first 7 weeks are also the easiest ones to make new friends in.

What others said, I wouldnt wait, you'll find it will be a bigger hassle to move once you're settled in than if you just redo it beforehand. Trust me, you probably don't want a triple... at least in my case the triples were the same size as doubles, just with 3 people crammed in the room.

We weren't on quarters. Nor were UCI or UCLA when my friends/family attended.
Stanford might be, though. They do everything wrong.

Fair enough. We had similar issues with semesters though. Nothing more awesome than having to take just enough fluff courses to keep your loans from triggering for half the year while waiting for that one class that's only offered in the Spring. I swear they do that stuff on purpose.

Its definitely frustrating.
I could graduate on time, if I had made it into a couple classes when I needed to take them. Now I'm off by a whole year. 
At least fluff courses let you pad your GPA or just focus on the 1 real class you managed to get into
