I wont lie, Vik... I thought you cracked and painted the whole fig in your spot color!

Very interested to see where it goes.

As for me, I just finished most of my build. A few more details and then GS work!

It's the snakes.

Also, trying hard to not give up on a predator I am doing for MOAB, doesn't look like I will finish that though.

Disclaimer: These pics are bad, but its just a quick shot before i start on it with my phone camera.

I just felt this thread needed a touch of retro with some re-styling

Edit:

Also seen i have roughly 6 days, so will need to paint quickly for once.

Also, quick question on the spot colouring.

For my model, i assume this would be something like just the eyes?
I wanted to do the whole mask, but its quite an area and would be a few other colours.
Would this be pushing it or should i just stick to the eyes?

Very wicked idea Jackal, and killer GS fu.

As far as the colors... Well, seein as its Sin City, we only get one!
Granted, though, it can be over as much of the mini as we please. So like a tribal sort of facepaint on your Harlequin Wraithlord, for example. (first thing I thought of seein that )
The thing to keep in mind is that its a technique to accentuate the mini's character. You want to tell a story with him. For example, a femme fatale would get reds on lips and perhaps dress. Someone who is known for getting down and dirty could have blood spatter on him. The color accentuates an aspect of their personality.

Thanks ramos but i cant take much credit.
I have an old harlequin jetbike and i used the canopy to make a press mold.

(i have 2 farseers, autarch, 10 warlocks all on bikes and 7 wraithlords who all use these face plates aswell)

Its a cheap trick, but it worked out well for me.

And thank you for the clarity
Initially i was going to fully paint the face plate in the usual harlequin diamonds with a lot of freehanding, but now, i need to change that.
I see your point and it has to be a key element to the model, so i can still do the diamonds, just in grey scale aswell.

I may just paint up the eyes in an emerald/jade colour like jewels as it should stand out pretty well.

I just had a thought - If assembly and novelty are part of the scoring I wouldn't be doing myself any favours picking a one piece metal model right?

Apart from that I've got a box of empire militia bits so a grimdark kitbash with some 40k guns and arms isn't out of the question...

I'm loving those dark eldar entries - they suit the black/white and spot colour thing.

Still working on mine. Might have it done by deadline. If I don't get distracted by Dwarf Fortress again.

It is a painting & modeling comp, so yes it would.

Ok so. I'm thinking... Its gotta be made from bitz I have at this stage in the game so it depends on what comes to hand from the bitz trays. hmmmmmmmm

You could use a metal model as the base ala this guy.

Or just try to muscle your way though with the painting part, but I suspect that would be tricky.

Thanks Weety. Yep, Enamel paint, as per usual.

As for your modelling dilemma, you will see that mine is not heavily converted. Just a few tweaks.
I decided to keep it simple and focus on doing a seamless job. Whether that's enough for good points compared to a stripper, hell-biker, smiling wraithlord, or tyranid butcher (to name a few)... I can't tell you.

So I was looking around at models I'm not using, and I found my old IG Bodyguard, who was tragically cut when the new codex came out, anyhow he has the right look and it won't take to long to do a repaint.

You can barely tell that Wych is greyscale, that's pretty close to the norm for dark eldar

Looks great though!

You're not wrong.
That is part of the reason I chose a Wych. I wanted reasonably large areas of skin so that I could do the contrast between pale skin and dark armour... and that is basically a Wych.

Thanks.

If I had the time I was considering painting up one of Vect's slave girls as they seemed appropriate to the Sin City theme, but I've got too many things on my plate hobbywise lately.
