It's that time again. Auld Lange and all that.

I was curious what the best and worst thing to happen to you in 2014 was on a personal level.

Best: At the Grand Opening of my new storefront we expected about 50 people. Instead, we had closer to 500! There was a line down the block to get into the place. It was packed! It was super exciting.

Worst: Coming home and finding my cat of 10 years had died while I was working. That cat and I had been through a lot together.

Best: Getting engaged on a beach in Hawaii

Worst: My boss & good friend being let go and not knowing why.

Best: Got a new 105 square meter apartment!

Worst: I stubbed my toe really bad that one time..?

Best: My depression began to subside w/o the use of anti-depressants.

Worst: My anxiety wasted no time filling the vacant space.

Best: Came to terms with who I am ( I'm going to purposely leave this vague because I'd rather not be very public about it. But it is a good thing. )

Worst: Lost one of my pet birds. I loved her very much, and she helped out quite a bit with my depression.

uh.... lesee....best thing? Probably my discovery of Steam, Or actually no, getting the new PC capable of running most games on max graphics was the best. I can even set off obscene amounts of explosives in GMod without too much lag


Worst... Grandma died. I wasn't super close, so it didn't affect me emotionally much. But the fact that we took the 24 hour round trip drive out to Michigan 5 TIMES in 3 months irks me

Best: Visited Japan for 1 month and 1 week after quitting my old job.

Worst: Leaving Japan and return to Portugal

Worst: The insurance I had to go to due to health care changes was crap, leading to an issue that would have been fully diagnosed and surgeried in 3 months with last years insurance going into 2015 before surgery due to no-reason authorization delays.

Best: Best friend of 25 years/girlfriend of 4 years came to 'you-get-the-house-early' terms with her ex, moved from Florida to Kentucky Oct '13, and made 2014 wonderful, exquisite, and multiple other positive expressions

Worst thing? My Uncle having severe complications during a standard operation. He's ok now, but it was a close run thing.

The best and worst thing are actually the same thing I think. It was getting laid off in June. On one hand losing the job I had for the last 7 years and leaving all the relationships I built was REALLY hard. On the hand the company itself is a toxic work environment thanks to the owners and finally being free of them is one of the most liberating feelings I've had in a while. And everything has worked out amazingly well since then so.

Best: Getting Accepted into university
Worst: Getting a new used car, causing frontend damage to it(Not bad) then having it break down on the side of the road, waiting for a towtruck in the rain for three hours, only to find out it had a roasted transmission and the guy be bought it from put on the wrong timing belt and ruined the engine.
Honorable mention, getting over my fears of asking a girl out.

Worst: mother died.
Best: uh...still a few hours left in the year, so I still got time...

Best: Arriving at Ft. Campbell. This has been a huge jump for my career. I went from being an E-6 in an E-3's position to being an E-6 in an arguably E-7's position. I'll be deploying soon, and be serving as the NCOIC/OIC of a cell, and all in all, I was going from a retiring as an E-6 to actually having options again.

Worst: Being victimized by real estate fraud. Family lost all of it's savings while in the middle of a move. Was not a fun couple of weeks...

Best: Going back to school and really loving what I am going for.
Also the new product I launched is growing in a direction I never though.

Worst:
Girlfriend is dealing with a lot of stressful health issues that are making it near impossible for her to work and the doctors "well lets see what happens in the next 3 months" is not helping.
Also the new product I launched isn't doing well in the direction we wanted to take it.

Best: Proposing to the missus.

Worst: Probably seeing 2 road fatalities on my trip home from work in July.

Best: Raise and advances at work

Worst: gramps passing

Dealing with Cancer
Remission

Best: Too many to pick from, I guess just spending time with friends.
Worst: 4 month suspension from driving.

Worst: Mother-in-law died (complications from broken hip).

Best: Mother survived breast cancer.

Best: birth of my beautiful daughter, my wife and I's first child. The best thing to ever have happened to me and a truly amazing experience.

Worst: had to put down my cat of 3 1/2 years due to liver cancer. Probably the worst thing I've ever experienced, looking into his eyes as he got put down.

He will learn because its going to hit him when she hits the teen years that she might meet someone like him at that age

Worst: Finding out just how much it's going to cost me to marry my wonderful fiancée! Let's hope 2015 brings a pay rise!

Best: Had a girlfriend (my first ever) for the first 8 months k(plus 2 months before) Valentine's, goijg out, being with her all the time and getting to know her family and friends, my best friend before we were together, best days of my life, etc, etc. Plus got amazing A-Level results and an offer to Study Journalism and Creative Writing with Law at University of Strathclyde.

Worst: Dumped me at the start of September, broke my heart and lost my mind for a few months.

2014 has been pretty good to me. Got an unconditional offer from my university of choice, got 3 As at A-level and am generally in a much better place than I was this time in 2013. No real disasters, either. Here's hoping 2015 is as good.
