Also, didn't Baelish say something about how he was going to bring an army North if she'd make him the Warden? Perhaps he could have made it back to the veil/had everything ready so that he can swoop in and finish off whichever side is left standing.

He wants Daenerys to be his bride and he wants the masters dead. We saw Drogon burn harpies and innocents alike. If the harpies attack so boldly, Danny will have to be harsher or give up. Thus pushing her to do something extreme (something we have seen now with Jon, Stannis, and to an extent, Robb, on top of other characters) or give up.

Danny wipes out the masters for good. -> Daario is discovered (by Tyrion or Jorah, perhaps. Or Varys) -> Danny checks off another treason.

It's ASOIAF, and it's winter. This does not happen.

Winter isn't one long continuous snowstorm, or else humanity would have been buried under 50 feet of snow in past winters. The issue for Stannis' army wasn't that it was cold, but that they were in a bad storm and couldn't move. Winter or not, a break in the storm is all they needed, as we'll see next week.

Of course, it didn't help that Ramsey is apparently some kind of magic ninja.

Also, Melisandre just stood there and did feth all. She clearly saw a vision in the flames moments before the attack, so she KNEW it was coming. But instead of raising the alarm she just watched. A more cynical person might say that she let it happen, to back Stannis into a corner and coerce him into letting her have her way with Shireen. Fething B****. I hope the White Walkers freeze her to death then raise her as a wight.

Also also...back in Season 2 after the battle of the Blackwater, wasn't Melisandre boasting that if Stannis had brought her to the battle, she could have done something about the Wildfyre? Like...put it out? If that's true, then she should have easily been able to handle a few burning tents.

What the hell is she for if not putting out fires? Other than burning defenseless children that is.

It's a prophecy Daenerys is given in the books, told to her in the House of the Undying. The show hasn't really dealt with prophecies (or the blue flower from a wall of ice/prince who was promised would be emphasized more), but they could always do it through the red priests.

And again, the unsullied are good at fighting in battles. They are not good when ambushed in streets and alleys, or fighting police actions.

When they are in the open arena, they do great at 10 times their number. In fact, you see hardly any die in the arena itself compared to how many they take down.

hmm they seemed to kill one and get stabbed ....repeatedly - but then its an incredably organised rebellion.

Dany deserting her favourite former slave girl seemed unlikely.

Hopefully she is off to set her other Dragons free - I like the Dothraki but we don;t really need them at the moment IMO

Is it just me, or is anyone else wondering if the Unsullied might fight more effectively if they just dropped those damn spears? Stab one dude with the spear...and they immediately get bum rushed by two or three more dudes before they can even pull the spear out. I'd love to see the Unusullied fight with something a little more effective in a chaotic melee or a narrow alleyway, like swords.

Spears are fine for battlefield shield and pike wall formations, not so much in close quarters brawls with one Unsullied to 3 or more Harpies.

That's a little hard to do with Unsullied fighting style ingrained in them as kids (5-6ish and then onward)

In saying that, one would have thought in an arena, in a flat space, with someone to protect... Would have been the perfect place for forming a shield wall.

Instead of a haphazard circle that people can just run through without anyone noticing...

Guess they didn't have anyone to give advice like in Gladiator

Aren't the Unsullied trained in the use of a variety of weapons? Not just the spear. Even without Daario retraining them, they should be able to fall back on other weapons such as swords when the situation calls for it.

Well that is what happens when ever someone who understands very little about actual warfare and how people fought. (In general)

Solid episode, 7 / 10.

Daenarys: Danerys does stupid things #87, meh. Gets old. Good to see Jorah is back. Sorta. Dragon scene too long, it just felt like a "Look, dragonz!" moment to get fans wet. Tyrion was badass, so all be forgiven. Unsullied continue to be the most disappointing soldiers in the entire GoT universe.

Stannis: Predictable, but okay. Hope it wasn't Ramsey sneaking in because that'd be another plot hole. The entire sabotage scene should have never happened. It would have made the burning scene better and helped Stannis' character development. The entire burning scene's purpose was to make the audience shift the blame to the Boltons because they forced Stannis' hand by sabotaging the entire army (and let's not start about the unrealistic amount of damage the sabotage caused...). Without the burning scene, Stannis and his decision to burn his daughter would have been more cruel and more fitting. The painful cries of his daughter needed to be longer until her voice gave out. If you go that far, you need to fully commit. Plot didn't go anywhere (yet).

Dorne: Something important happened on Dorne! Lots of useless filler again (Sand Snakes), but an important plot point. Now sail away from that hole and never look back.

Arya: OYSTERS, CLAMS AND COCKLES! OYSTERS, CLAMS AND COCKLES! OYSTERS, CLAMS AND COCKLES! OYSTERS, CLAMS AND COCKLES! OYSTERS, CLAMS AND COCKLES! OYSTERS, CLAMS AND COCKLES! Holy cow, her voice is really annoying. Meeting was predictable. Small pedo scene to show viewers who forgot who he was that the man's an evil man. Plot didn't go anywhere.

The Wall: Sam finally returns to his main roll, letting the audience know what Jon Snow thinks. Plot didn't go anywhere.

Solid episode. Worse than the previous, better than the two dark spots. Weren't we told that a main character dies? One more episode to go I guess.

Huh? I don't see how giving it a 7/10 is "bitching about it". Unless you consider a 7/10 below average...in that case...well...Not to mention we loved the second-last episode. People not rating every episode as the best thing since sliced bread might be hard for fanboys, though. Acting again was top-notch for most actors, the cast is still top-notch, scenery and music are awesome...just not going to re-iterate the same points in every episode.
