Enforcer Breach and Eradicate kit is great for those of us who bought a ton of models in DZ1/etc as those bits are relatively new.

Looks like I need three sets of the burst laser arms. I was gonna convert using extra burst lasers from my interceptors.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Soon as I saw them go up for sale I ordered some Burst Lasers. I have a feeling they'll sell quite a few of them.

Currently most played: Silent Death, Mars Code Aurora, Battletech, Warcrow and Infinity.

Are burst lasers so much better in the game or what?

Did anyone catch the subtle threat of wave 3 hard plastic vehicles... changing in material?

Yes, and it did not make me happy.

Man, I really wanted that Asterian vehicle in hard plastic. Oh well. At least the Enforcer drop ship made it.

This being my first Mantic KS, how big a chance is there that they will use a different material in the end?

So before the rumor patrol gets out of hand, nowhere in the update did it say anything was changing materials.

They've done it before, no reason they wouldn't do it again.

At least they're still producing them, which is more than can be said of some rewards on their other projects (DS adventure gamebooks, for example).

In this update: Information on Wave 2 Shipping, Progress and Estimates.

Hi everyone,

Now that our Wave 1 shipping is all wrapped up and you guys are playing with your lovely Warpath goodies, it’s time to talk about where we are with the Wave 2 shipments and production progress. It’s a mixed bag of news but you guys need to know where we are so there are no surprises for any of us!

The Forge Father Tank (Sturnhammer/Drakkar/Brandr) has finished production and has just left China on a boat for the UK, with an estimated arrival time of April. The Forge Father Hultr and Veer-myn Tunnel Runner have been tooled and we’ve had the samples back. We are waiting on some final amendments and then we can place the production order.

Ideally, we will wrap these all up together in a single shipping wave if we can (Wave 2a) but if some people are only expecting one vehicle type and not another, we will work it out and get everything out to you in the most efficient way possible. As soon as we can firm up some dates on production and deliveries, we will let you know.

As you know from previous updates, we have been impacted by some changes and issues from our regular tooling and manufacturing factory for hard plastic vehicle kits. As a result we have been working on a new solution with a new supplier (who we have worked with on other projects so they we have plenty of experience of their production quality).

The Veer-myn Tunneller is currently being tooled by them and we hope to get the first test samples back in soon. This will inform whether we have a new solution to begin tooling the remaining kits outstanding; the GCPS/Plague Mule, the GCPS/Plague Hornet and the Asterian Chira/Chroma. Obviously we want the quality of our kits to be high and would very much prefer to have them in hard plastic (as we know you would too) but until we know we have a new solution in place, we can’t give any accurate dates on shipping yet. We will keep you informed on the progress as soon as we know, so everyone can be updated.

Thanks!

The Mantic Team

Preferring to keep them hard plastic without an actual commitment to do so, coming from Mantic, is worrisome.

It sets the stage for 'Hey, we tried but just couldn't, enjoy your restic blob!'

It's pretty easy to lift that meaning from the text, though.

They did finally produce the adventure game book(s?). Backers just have to buy them at retail now.

It doesn't matter what they do it would be wrong.

Basileans Man at Arms were tooled in hard plastic no matter how the chinese messed it up just to kepp the material
bad models, everyone complains

the chinese mess up hard plastic, so change to restic or resin for good looking models
everyone complain about the material

search for another company to make the stuff in hard plastic
everyone complains for being late and not fulfil promised delivery etc

I don't know, if they delivered on time (or close to it) in the material they promised, to the quality they promised, there wouldn't be too many complaints. Change any of those variables and frankly, they earn the complaints they get.

You can't sell me one thing, deliver something else, and expect me to be happy.

The last few releases have been pretty well reviewed, actually. Their DBX and DS boardgame plastics had a few weak minis, but overall were at least decent. Their new KoW2 and Warpath plastics were very well done and earned positive reviews. Their DUST plastic minis have also received acclaim from backers. They still pop out the occasional "what were they thinking?" miniature, but for the most part Mantic has steadily improved each KS.

they learned alot from their first fails
but than they still produce in China which also means that there can be a 12 month delay just because the government decided to decline the export licence of the company

(my department has now a 6th month delay on a multi million project just because of Chinese bureaucracy)

than you should not back on a KS.

as this is giving someone money to try something
so that they run into problems of any kind because it did not work out as originally planned
this is nothing too be surprised because it would be expected

not only for Mantic but for all KS
of course there are those that just use the platform as a pre-order system for stuff that is already done (and know that htey would not get the same amount sold on Amazon or their on store)

but all projects that start from scratch ran into problems and have delays of any kind.

Are we celebrating the 100th Cyclic Argument on this thread? It might be time to pop some champagne. Let's see if we got all the bases covered:

1. Argue about what a Kickstarter is and isn't
2. Invent a problem, state it as fact, convince others it is fact
3. Complain about invented problem
4. Repeat for at least three pages

Delays are one thing, and if comms are good are typically accepted.

Changing product materials and/or quality is a different thing. If you KS for a hard plastic model and deliver something else, you failed. That is not the customers fault. And yes, I use the term customer, becuase Mantic sure does use KS as a pre-order system and has for years.

Yes, they actually made them now after saying they weren't making them therefore making me spend my pledge credit on other items I didn't want because I initially pledged for the books they said they would make, which they said they were then not making, but ended up making

No one 'invented a problem'. They pointed out Mantic's wording, and know for a fact Mantic has switched materials in the past, and noted the wording gives them wiggle room to do so yet again.

Using Mantic's past performance as an indicator of future performance, it is fair to say the worry exists. Hopefully Mantic comes through, but I bet if they were not worried themselves about it they would not have used the wording they did.

Acting like it is a foregone conclusion and using past-tense to describe them is inventing a problem.

this is you, other customers don't care about the material as long as they got their stuff in time
(and pre-order system is more the CMON games)

It certainly is!

It depends what it is

Some of the stuff in this KS has already changed material,

eg GCPS Mules went from Resin when I pledged for them to plastic (of some sort could be DS type or hard), to hard plastic and now look to be a bit problematic as they've had to switch factories
(and as far as I can tell it's still not clear whether the plague version is going to be its own unique thing... the plan with the original resin, or some bolt on bits in resin or metal for the GCPS version as seems a bit more likely now)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
edit: hard plastic mules would be a bonus for me, resin what I signed up for and DS style PVC the worst option especially if the plague stuff turns into metal bolt on bits

but I was always aware that Mantic is prone to pull the odd material switch especially when they sell lots more or far fewer of something than expected

Hrm...so Google offered this insight:

Spoiler:

Something to be aware of? Certainly. Something to worry about? Not at this stage. Ronnie is not a supervillian who is already five steps ahead of the hapless backers and planting the seeds of his sudden and inevitable betrayal; a just as cogent explanation is that they're worried that the other manufacturer may not be up to snuff and would be a repeat of the M@A incident so they're being honest that they haven't seen if they can be brought on to do the work. I'd imagine if they can't, then the topic of material change may come up since it'd be insanely overdue if they had to start from scratch with another HIPS manufacturer.

Until that scenario has come about though, probably best to just keep a weather eye out.

You DO realize your google search brings up articles on financial investment (stocks/mutual funds) performance, right?

Which makes your snark less than relevant. Past performance/behavior for people or companies IS a good indicator of future perform/behavior. Change 'performance' with 'behavior' and show me the new screenshot.

Why?
