I just hope that the mods take off as well on the consoles as they have on the PCs - I have had Fallout 3 on my machine since the game was new, and there are still mods coming out.

The main problem with consoles is accessibility. Modders face hard limits on consoles they just cannot get over unless they get official support by the developer himself and, in some cases, Bethesda. Plus you're also limited by the hardware. I expect there to be mostly mods that add simple stuff to it instead of having really decisive changes. Like, Wanderer's Edition for FO3 that improves the game by a poopoo ton and takes it to an insane quality level just cannot be done on consoles without having backend access.

An Alienware with a 3.9 proc and 8Gb of memory aught to do I guess. Least with me not wanting to spend more than £700 on Ebay that is.
...Pity the company which I work for doesn't happen to be selling any of the pile of spare Alienwares which we have in the office unfortunately.
I would not recommend alienware, extremely overpriced. Try looking into building one, it's not too complicated, it just requires you do some research first. After that, it's basically model building (just slot/plug it together how it says).
There's even some programs that will do the work of finding the parts for you (just give a general price-range).
Here are a couple off the top of my head:
http://www.logicalincrements.com/
https://pcpartpicker.com/
Although if you have a friend or colleague that has done it before, talking to them is a good idea, as to not make any mistakes.

If you're really nervous about building the computer yourself, there's places like iBuypower and CyberPower. You pick the parts and they put the PC together. It costs more than doing it yourself, but comes with the comfort of professionals doing the assembly and the website noting hardware incompatibilities. There's so many youtube videos on computer assembly at this point, I don't think anyone really needs to be nervous. PC parts are more durable than people often assume. They're not made of glass.

My God, Ghouls are fething terrifying. On my way to Corvega assembly plant, I ran into a narrow alleyway and came face to face with TEN of the fethers. I ran through the streets squealing. Then I fought my way through Corvega assembly plant through hordes of ghouls and raiders whilst crippled by radiation (50%, anyone know where to find Radaway? ).
Then I returned to the streets, made my way up to some rooftops, another horde of ghouls chased me up the stairs so I dropped frag nades down stairs then ran circles around a sofa trying to reload with the last one chasing me.
Then I walked to a window...And my head was decapitated by a baseball launched from a rocket launcher or something. Fething raiders...
Welcome to Fallout.

Ghouls are fun; a 10mm makes short of them, and I use a pipe sniper rifle I found early on to pick anything at range.
Also, speaking of the Corvega plant, when you're already cautiously going through it, after , and you're on edge, the last thing you want to see when you turn a corner is this:
Fun fact about F4 ghouls I never knew until the last second:

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Aren't they supposed to have like a 500 year battery or something rediuclous like that. I remember reading that a while ago
But, if you really are having a hard time finding them, and are on the PC version.
Press the tilda (~) key to bring up the console.
Type either:
help fusion
or
help core
and look through the list with pgUp and pgDn until you find it, and write down the ID (should be an 8 long seuqnce of number and letters).
Then type:
player.additem <fusion core ID> <number of fusion cores wanted>
Tell you what, why not just edit your character file to give yourself max perks and 10's, but keep yourself at level 1, then turn off XP?
And I guess turn the difficulty down and give yourself unlimited ammo on the minigun while changing its damage to 100000?
That way you can just slice through everything without having to think about actually playing the game
Then I guess the only thing to do after that is complain that the base game is too boring and needs a million mods to make it actually interesting.

Its not bad, its just pretty average. It looks nice (although obviously hamstrung by console development and a dubious engine) but FO4 is extremely similar to FO3 with some quite minor changes.
This was my expectation for FO4 and Bethesda have met that low standard.

I'm mostly messing around with the crafting for the time being, taking it nice and slow. Nothing too insane or crazy yet, but I like the options we are given.
I've also decided to do my first power armour in Vault-Tec blue:
Though the next one will be military green for sure.

From the rest of the post I quote the above from it seems like the Fallout games are not really your cup of tea. Kind of like buying a road bike and then complaining that you can't to half pipes or crash down mountain trails on it...
For those of us who, you know, seem to actually like the game it is pretty good as is. And certainly will be for a while at least!

Simply step out of your armour somewhere near the cradle, then approach it and use the craft option. It should automatically put your armour in the cradle then.

I was blown away yesterday when I found out my first custom paintjob for the power armor, a "Flames" one. Seriously?! Even more custom stuff?! Oh Bethesda <3
I have to admit, I like the "Sims" portion of the game FAR too much. I was genuinely having fun and feeling accomplished as I created the basic stuff for my settlers in Sanctuary.
So, did you guys have fun customising your weapons yet? I spent most of my stuff crafting stuff for my 10mm. It's a small beast now

While the game hasn't crashed as of yet, I have discovered a pair of bugs with regards to saving and loading.
1. After I did my whole armour up in Vault-Tec blue I saved the game, exited it and when I later restarted the game, half of my parts were pre-upgrade again, with the resources used lost as well.
2. Same happened after I found a large military robot, saved the game, had it self-destruct, then reloaded the game to keep it handy, just in case. Only, upon reloading, the robot was still destroyed.

I'm assuming that large robot was found in a junkyard and you had to activate it through a tape, right? That thing was completely bugged for me. After activating it and ordering it to go to the USAF military base (there's a quest concerning the raiders there) it just stood there. No animations of any kind either.
Once I reach the base, it suddenly was there, it was being shot at and yet it didn't shoot back. When I ordered it to self destruct it didn't do so either.

Well, just managed to pop home and check. download finished at exactly 08:30 this morning. Exactly the same time I have to start work.
Still, was also able to check that it runs OK on my system. Not done much, just watched the opening movie and taken a look at the character model building (which face do I want, do I want a beard, that kind of thing) and it looks great with the settings auto-detected setting it all to "High". Don't quite know what kind of a monster PC you'd need for "Ultra" settings, but I don't think I have 4K eyes and I certainly don't have a 4K screen, so I don't think Ultra is necessary for me.
Hope I get enough free time tonight to start playing it a bit, but have to pack as I'm going to be 200+ miles away from my PC over the weekend.

I'm actually at that exact spot but never got a quest for it. I just go through and murder anyone without a name. I stabbed the bot (friggin gun bayonets! I love it!! And I have a bayonet on my rocket launcher!) a few times and continued on my way.
We were talking about saving suits earlier. Don't bother. I now have... five suit frames with their own themes and 8 cores between 95% and 100%. Use them up and ditch them when you're done. Because some of these areas are friggin HARD without the suit. Even with the suit it's rough killing ten Super Mutants of various levels and a Legendary. I'm Level 16 for reference.

So what sort of build are people going for?
I finally managed to start playing at about 10pm last night, and I seem to be drifting towards a fairly sneaky high INT/PER/AGI build, with a bit of strength so that I can actually carry the junk I'm using to upgrade my stuff.
Just cleared out the USAF base near sanctuary and got a nice buff to my sneaking for my troubles, and I'm probably gonna spend some time fixing Sanctuary for a while.
Also, with regards to the modding conversation; I like the idea in principle, but I put the basic highly recommended mods on my New Vegas game, and it broke it; it kept on just dropping straight to desktop or blue-screening, which isn't ideal. Hopefully the modding system for this one will be slightly more rigorous.

It'll mostly go the same as with Skyrim I guess. Download mods through Steam Workshop and have the ability to turn certain mods on and off in the launcher. Meaning you can figure out which mod is the bad guy easier when the game keeps locking up etc.
Or download the more shady mods through various sites, which is harder to do.
