He did, but it failed there as well.
His accent and swearing are much more amusing than that movie
On the other hand we now have a frustrated, rejected German artist with a grudge against the world. We should watch him to make sure he stays away from politics
This is a good point. The Slavic in me has a sudden desire to go lie down in a ditch with a PPS 41 and a nice bottle of Vodka. For the Motherland!
OTOH, Uwe doens't have the balls to fight anyone who actually can fight.
Uwe Boll, however, is no ordinary artist. He challenged the world to a fight, saying that anyone who posted nasty articles about him can petition for a chance to kick his ass. The five winners will fly to Canada to box him in his upcoming film, Postal (he's already beaten one critic). I think the world's film cameras can charge Uwe Boll with rape, but this is a pretty awesome move. He's doing what every celebrity has wished he or she could do: punch critics in the face. In contrast, Kevin Smith's reaction to his critics is crying into a breast pump.
Uwe is a matchmaking genius. Because in the history of the world, there will never be someone who is both violently offended by a filmmaker's lack of reverence for the Alone in the Dark franchise and who is also capable of hurting anyone. Check among yourselves. Uwe is supposed to be a former boxer, but I have no way of knowing. My normal method of research, Google, only spits out "sucks" and profanity when I enter his name. Out of simple karmic fairness, though, if he's this bad at making movies, he's got to be amazing at every single other thing in the world.
Uwe was going to promote his publicity stunt on G4's Attack of the Show by boxing one of the hosts. Again, he's a matchmaking genius, because everyone on TV is 3 feet tall. If you were watching Attack of the Show during the time I cohosted, you might have noticed that I could have leaned over and eaten host Kevin Pereira. A producer from the show remembered this and called me asking if I'd come on and fight Uwe. I train in Muay Thai and jujitsu, so I think boxing is to fighting what Hungry Hungry Hippos is to fighting, but—holy crap!—I couldn't pass up getting my fist near the mouth that shouted "action" on the set of House of the Dead.
Uwe, learning that he wasn't fighting a midget, asked for my age, height, weight, and fighting experience. I e-mailed this information, along with the reassurance that the Holocaust survivors got together and agreed he was the worst thing to come out of Germany. I figured this would make him mad enough to ignore that I'm several weight classes above him in F-List Celebrity Boxing. It didn't. After reading my stats, he suddenly couldn't make it on the show. There was a short discussion of flying me to the set of Postal, but I'm not holding my breath. Uwe is the one making the Nerd Combat rules, and rule No. 1 is: Uwe only hits people who don't explode Uwe's face when they hit back.
Hang on, he can no longer scam movie money from German taxes? That was something he boasted about before, how he got away with something along those lines for years now.

IMBD'd him. I've heard of literally none of the movies he's made.
-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG

He even literally stated that he thinks video games are trash, doesn't care for them at all and insulted gamers in the process by laughing at their faces, telling them he just did them to get money.

You are exactly the person Boll hates on with his rants.

Kind of like Phil Fish?

To those who don't know who Uwe Boll is, he is the guy who made the movie "Alone in the Dark" during which nobody was ever alone or in the dark. We refer to it more accurately as "Grouped in the Light".
These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.
I remember when "In the Name of the King" was being made. He put auctions on eBay to be an extra in the movie. You had to fly your own way to BC, Canada and back but in exchange, you get to be in a crowd of "warriors" and got a box lunch.
In America, we require people to pay extras. In Soviet Kanada, extras pay Uwe.

As if every single director of video game adaptations cared for video games and had any reason to respect the whiniest and most juvenile group of people in the world. What a crime.
I've seen a fair few of his movies, though not all, and they're generally dull. Not annoying or exceptionally inept, but dull. I do know of a number of recent movies by other directors that were downright offensive and aggravating to watch, and I'd take that borefest Alone in the Dark over those any day. At least Uwe's made a couple of worthwhile films (Rampage 1, Assault on Wall Street) that I don't regret having watched.
If you're wondering why some of his movies turned out the way they did, take a listen to some of his interviews. You might actually learn that movie-making isn't a one-man affair, but a team effort, and plenty of things are beyond the director's control.

most juvenile group of people in the world.
So says one posting on a forum about playing with plastic toy soldiers
I think it is important that a movie director actually likes and is emotionally involved with the subject matter he makes a film about.

Can't speak for other boards, but Dakka is infinitely more mature than any VG forum I've visited.
As for your point, I sincerely doubt it most VG movie directors in the '80s-early '00s were gamers or cared about games. This was the kind of movies for mercenaries, not auteurs.
A company had the rights for a VG adaptation, turned to Boll and he accepted to direct it. He did it cheaply, the company profited in one way or another, everyone was happy. He had a meager budget and rambunctious stars, and did what he could under the circumstances. I've seen much lesser films made for much more dough. The only reason Boll gained the notoriety he did was because his were VG adaptations and gamers were becoming more and more rabid on the Internet. Had he started off with Tunnel Rats or Attack on Darfur, he would've slipped under the radar.

My 2 favourite VG movies would have to be Mortal Kombat 1 (Seriously, Shang Tsung is AWESOME in that film) and Doom (the 1st person section in particular was great fun!)
Can't think of any Uwe Boll films that were in any way true to the source material, except maybe Blood Rayne but even then he gak all over that!

In a rare moment of clarity he said that the VG movies he did were his view on the game, seeing as everybody experiences a game differently and all that.

Postal. Maybe not true to the letter, but certainly true to the spirit.

Also, House of the Dead didn't contain the titular house, being instead set on an island in a lake

I'm very sorry you have had bad experiences.
A general tip; Avoid official forums like the plague, find fan made ones. Official Forums will have every 12 year old whose ever played the game come on and whine because Paper beat his Rock, where as the Fan Made Forums will have people actually discussing the product, ways to improve it, and generally be a better experience all around.
Dakka is a fan made forum, btw.
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

I'm pretty sure at this point that official forums exist as nothing more than a tool to reduce the amount of hate mail in the company's in box
