Really awesome to see all the activity already on this! Really get the feeling there are going to be a huge range of scenarios & game types involved!

Haha, great (or twisted) minds think alike. I was thinking of making some wooden gallows. I had a lot of wood gathered in the past to do so, but ended up using several of my splints to light candles.

Well, the idea if the gallows came through deduction...where would a trapdoor happen to be found...
I am still thinking this over as my wife told me to do something involving humor...and a noose seldom has something to do with cracking a smile...

You could have a guardsman, sat on the floor under the trapdoor, noose around his neck, loose rope (as in too long for the height of the drop), and a gang of Orks standing around scratching their head as to why it didn't work?

Or you could have the "unlucky" person so large/fat/heavy that they have pulled the gallows over or snapped the pole (as that is funnier than the rope snapping).

I have an idea for a sort of venus fly trap that will go with my fantasy orcs and goblins. I need to sketch it out and see if it is at all within my skill level...

Yeah failed miserably last time to come up with anything, too busy. I think I'll be watching this one eagerly from the sidelines, but I do have plans to make some terrain soon and if I do something that lines up I'll be sure to hop in.

I have what I think is s ridiculously awesome (to me) idea but I must start it before I can say I'll get it done by any sort of deadline.

So planning completed. Here are my preliminary sketches:

A Space Hulk store room with false floor allowing me to place lots of Tyranid eggs under the floor seen through mesh floor panels and escape through an open trap door! Mwah-ha-ha! There are lots more musings in my Terrain blog (see signature strip for link) if anyone wants to be bored for a few minutes

So if I managed to get started and make headway... Here's a terrible sketch of what I wanna do. I guess what the doodle doesn't mention is that the lower 2x2' board will theoretically sit flush upon the first one in the center of the page. If you open the wee trapdoors you'll be able to see whatever is underneath the door on the second level. Although, for game purposes, as soon as the doors are opened and players are at the second level, the top would be detached and floated off in space as a separate 'floor'.

Grim - that is gonna be awesome. Lot of work, but definitely worth it.

Fascinated to see your sketches chaps, great to see the cogs in motion!

I think if I can get started... I can probably get it done, but I've gotta maintain enthusiasm through a house move and then through a newborn =/ Those will sometimes give you more time than you'd expect but... yeah very possibly the drawing will be all I get done, but I'm hopeful I can get dug in because once it's rolling I should make fair progress.

Congratulations on the newborn. They are awesome in so many ways, especially their crack ability to steal sleep from you but make you smile moments after doing so by doing something cute!! They also eat their parents' time like rabbits eat carrots I know from where you speak, if you get time it would be cool to see your project come to fruition though.

currently i am verrry eager to see grim dork´s and deputy´s entry coming into physical existence... i am working on and off on a table system idea that could be built like a space hulk gaming table, but still no real progress there for years...so when you guys will get your own attempts working, then these might actually elevate my own attempts^^

Well it's one thing I noticed when my daughter (now 3, a whole other bag of tricks..) was that age... is that I was constantly exhausted but I found I had a lot of idle time that I didn't expect to have. Now with both of them... probably not as much. And she's still not here yet... but the due date is not but a week or two different from the week we'll get to move lol.. we have bad timing

I think while we have the box truck to move our stuff I'm gonna grab one of those 8x4' sheets of insulation foam so I have plenty of raw materials for future projects.

Also, pretty much everything Cam does is cool so I'd be interested too

well...good luck grim dork....being a father of two sons...i know what is in store for you
for our first one we actually moved too shortly before the due date.... as if one needs an extra package of stress in this time^^
