Having grown up in the 80's and wanting this movie to be good, I can't say I'm surprised at how bad this movie (apparently) turned out:

There's a tax law in Germany... Wait, that's someone else.
They must do insanely well on DVD?
The sad thing is that the ideas probably aren't stillborn terrible, but rather that Sandler smothers them in the crib. He's the George Lucas of comedy.
I looked at some numbers, and they generally do pretty well overseas. Well enough, anyway, for him to keep sharting out one of these every year, anyway.

They then went on to say that something like Warcraft would be seen by the public as more of a generic Fantasy LOTR-esque film than a video game one.
Yeah, I sincerely doubt that. My 85 year old grandmother uses "Warcraft" as a euphemism for video games in general, that brand is far too mainstream to be divorced from video games.

While I fully agree that Pixels is crap, I have a hard time taking anything Moviebob says seriously, the guy has some seriously out of whack perspectives.

I used to listen to him quite a bit. Then I found out alot of people, especially anti sjw people do. But I never figured out why. Care the elaborate?

Basically, he has become so insanely absorbed into himself that he makes some rather interesting claims:
That to him, the reveal of Super Mario Bros. 3 in The Wizard was as impactful as 9/11 - from his book.
That the console wars were "his Vietnam"
And, regarding Pixels, his quote on twitter that he was "almost" glad that Iwata was dead so he couldn't see it.
The bottom line is that he is so invested into this...whatever you want to call it, persona maybe...that he really has a bad perspective on the rest of the world, which makes him use death and tragedy as equivalents to his video game hobby. I love games, but those kinds of words are dangerously out of balance with reality.

Change video games to miniature games and you could be referring to some people on Dakka.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

True enough. And if someone is treating any game reveal as the same cut as 9/11, their priorities are massively out of whack as well.
As I said earlier, the movie wasn't great and wont be a blockbuster for sure. But it wasn't as bad as some of the crap that Hollywood has pushed out in recent years and is better then a fair amount of the movies that came out about video games.

To be fair, few video game movies have ever had the budget or vision to actually be true to the source material while telling a compelling story.
Thats kinda why I am optimistic for the Warcraft movie. At least it will look good.

As long as they make money they'll keep getting made, and incredibly enough his films make decent box office, mostly through international returns.
It's a bit like Nickelback, everyone that everyone knows hates them, but they keep making money. Somewhere out there is hidden society of people with incredibly bad taste that keeps buying this crap.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”
