Yes indeedy, we have three mighty mound beetles on 80mm bases ahead of us, all awesomely digitally sculpted by Bob Płociennik; one will replace the original Thacaldān, which we're sad about because it's a cracking sculpt, but having two others of a different style would look odd. So Bob's done a unit of three!

clear (wee colour) resin wings here

Giant dung beetles!

See, this is the kind of stuff you can't get outside of Mierce. Those are just epic

Although I'm not sure about the one with wings poking out the back, insect wings are hard to do and wings of all types are the one thing their digital sculptor has struggled with, I think. Doing them in yellow resin like they've noted is a good idea, though.

Thanks for the updates! Loving the beetles, and it's smart that they resculpted the original to match, because man it does not:

I thought I liked him before, but dig all them details, especially the gnarly horns, on the new bugs

Seeing that resculpted Rudraige the Fat reminded me to check on what I was still waiting for.
I'm still waiting for items from back in 2016.
The minis look great, but they're not worth paying for 5 years in advance

Really? I thought they were slow but delivering everything? Five years is excessive.

The bugs look cool but that ogre is nice..

I think the "explanation" is that I'm waiting on things that were produced in resin, but not yet in the metal I purchased.
I don't think that's an excuse but I guess it's a reason?

They had a huge delay in metal as, at least according to Rob, it took them almost 2 years to even get a license from the city to set up metal casting due to the heat required so they're pretty far behind and only started last year. Why they didn't keep using the 3rd party to make metals until they could do it themselves I don't know.

I think they still use a 3rd party to make the metal molds for them though.

I assume because they sold the metal kickstarter packs too cheap... I think they were 50 pounds initially? Sculpts fell behind, so over time, the third party costs rose. If they had to hire out, I think they'd be losing money to have them cast.

They have a Half Price Nobles sale on right now. Some nice deals there, especially if you want both a mounted and foot version of a hero, though I'm always reminded on looking at the Nobles of how many more I'd be likely to buy if the women didn't universally* have really daft-looking boob armour. Personal taste, I guess, but it'd be nice if there were at least ONE faction that armoured their upper chests, as then I could buy them and not feel like I was fielding a silly army.

That makes sense, the production costs 5 years ago are probably different from today.
It will be a huge task to keep up and speed with the metal casting.
I usually get things from them only at Salute so Im not sure how the KS side of things is going but looks like some delays are bigger than others.

I gotta say, as terrible as the UK>US shipping hike has been, it's really saved me from acquiring a dangerous amount of Mierce these last few months

I have had no issues with shipping from the UK for most of the last year...almost every month Mierce sends me a box and it arrives in a couple of weeks. Spain, the Ukraine and Greece have not been an issue either...only Poland and Japan.

Japanese post delays may be some of the worst currently out there...

I actually don't care about shipping times, I was referencing the $28 USD base shipping rate This alone has kept me from ordering as much Mierce and Puppets War (Poland) as I certainly would have - during Black Friday, Mierce was the only European resin I bought, when virtually all of the minis I buy these days either come from Europe or in the form of files for my printer. It's way hard to casually jump on all these Mierce sales when I'm adding almost $30 to the end total, let alone PW's 10% off sales. (Tho Mierce's heavy sales makes it pretty close!)

But anyway, just complaining, carry on Miercenaries!

Is that unique to those two companies or did it go up suddenly across the board? I hadn't noticed but I, also, have been curbing my excess purchases

You won't regret it, I picked him up when he was still a Bane Beast in the final days of Maelstrom and to this day is still one of the most impressive models in my collection.

The first few times I used him as a counts as Bloodthirster at the local club he seemed to have his own personal gravity that could attract people from clear across a (really quite large) hall!

Across the board. US Federal government stopped subsidizing international shipping last year. So in reality that was always the price but the government paid part of the price.

Just to clarify...

The KS stuff is MASSIVELY delayed, no one disputes that, I received my Uuroch I ordered in 2016 late last year. 5 years after I ordered it, and 4 years "late" according to the initial KS timelines for delivery.
However, the new stuff Mierce is sending out campaign emails on are inserted into the KS backlog queue in order to provide ongoing funds to keep Mierce alive, and this seems to be working OK.

If Mierce only produced KS stuff, they've have no revenue stream, and would go bust.

So, I do buy some of their new stuff, mostly because they are still the damn finest minis on the market, but also to help keep that money flow to keep them afloat.

These 3 beetles, for example, will be made around the time they suggested, i.e July.

Hardback at A4 size and at a mighty 188 pages, The 2021 Mierce Miniatures Compendium is now available to pre-order (to be dispatched on the 2nd of April), but be warned - there's only 100 copies available, so you'd better get hold of your numbered, limited edition copy before they sell out - because they will! To that end, we're running a fabulous competition for all you Miercenaries where you could win up to £500 worth of miniatures if you purchase the Compendium!

Featuring over 800 miniatures and other products, The 2021 Mierce Miniatures Compendium shows you pretty much all of the miniatures we've ever produced, minus a few that have been resculpted and plus a few that haven't been released yet. They're all shown at roughly true scale, so you can judge their size, too.

Win up to £500 worth of miniatures!

You can get your hands on up to £500 worth of miniatures if you can tell us the full names of the miniatures for the concept art shown on page 6 of the The 2021 Mierce Miniatures Compendium.

There'll be three winners; first place will win £500 Moneyback, second place £200 Moneyback and third place £50 Moneyback, and ALL entrants will recieve £5 Moneyback if they don't win first, second or third place. We're making sure to reward everybody who takes the time to take part! Moneyback is basically store credit: have a look at the Moneyback FAQ on our webstore for details.

Competition Rules
•You must have purchased The 2021 Mierce Miniatures Compendium to be able to take part
•You must send an e-mail to contact@mierce-miniatures.com with the full name of each miniature shown as concept art on page 6, stating your full name and your Mierce Miniatures username
•All correct answers will be entered into a prize draw which will take place on Friday 23rd of April 2021 at around 6pm, so you have a few weeks to grab your copy of the compendium if you haven't already got it.

We'll notify everybody of the winners on our Facebook page. DO NOT post the answers publicly; if you do you will be disqualified and the competition will be run again, slightly differently. Please don't spoil it for everybody!

Downloadable Version

There will be a free, downloadable version of the 2021 compendium in May, once the competition has finished, so watch out for that!

Good luck, and get hold of that 2021 Compendium!

How is this half price sale worse then any of the others they do every 3-4 months? This is been a pretty common thing for the past 2 years or so.

Am I right that the last Mierce KS (ignoring the swag one) ended on January 23, 2018? So there's some call for KSers to feel shafted as KS minis go up for cheaper than they were kicked at - technically I'm in this group too. But I also don't care and would rather see Mierce survive, plus the big sales are so dependable - and my need for more Mierce so low - that I know I can just wait and pick up stuff I want for 50% eventually.

Related to KS, was sad to see this morning that my two big croc boys have been pushed from Dec 2021 to June 2022 (or thereabouts). Bummer.

Sure, that's true but yxalitis has been on here for years so I'm curious why this one was painful when there was a half price monster only 4 months ago? I guess because recent stuff has been added but they were eventually going to be as for a long time, even before 2018, Mierce did 50% off sales but they were less frequent so it was expected.

They can come take a seat next to the Mallax unit who just got pushed back from January 2022 to August 2022. They do a pot luck every 3rd Thursday and would love more of a variety of dishes since Daaral

It might be a bit along the lines of *if* we didn't pledge 'back in the day', we'd be able to get the minis now, and faster vs. having money tied up for years and *still* not have miniatures in hand?

Maybe?

It's all sorts of messed up, if you're a backer of their past campaigns...

The sales model Mierce has used the past year or so has actually gotten me to spend more on miniatures from them then I probably have in 4-5 years combined.

Previously I had only been backing for a dollar then buying things as they were about to be removed from the KS store which was a good method until Rob started removing some earlier then that. Last big purchase was the Reivers which I've gotten half of (I by my human figures in metal).

How do their new human sized figures measure up? Previously the scale was all over the place, and on the small side. I have the original holumenn, teulu, duguth, etc and they are like 28mm historical range small.
