JustFYI, but the fighters look like they might be closer to 1/72 scale. The cockpits on most of them are so small that a 28mm mini would be cramped in them. However, the XL-15 has a larger apparent cockpit area than the others, despite being smaller over all, so might work best if that is a concern for you.

That's true. The figures are the same size as the Armadillo, but the fighter cockpits kind of remind me of the old days when resin vehicles and ships for Wargaming we're marked for 25mm and we're actually closer to 20mm or so. Would still look good in the background but not quite right for Heroic 28mm. The now OOP Starlink ships are better sized for our used.
The Light-year robot pods are nicely sized though. Not like space marine drop pods, but cool as escape pods.

I wish they'd talked a bit about which glue they used (unless I missed it), I find toys don't always take glue that well.
Loctite All Plastics glue is the Real Deal. It even works on the super-soft polyethylene used in old Airfix-style soldiers and green army men.
It comes in 2 parts - a highlighter-like pen for preparing the surface, and a (very small) tube of actual glue.
Wash all surfaces using detergent first, then allow them to dry. Rub the pen over both surfaces, wait 1 minute, apply some of the glue and put them together. Works on everything I've tried it on.
If you mess up or apply the glue too soon, you'll get a big rubbery blob of goo. Scrape it off, wait five minutes then try again.
The glue seems to be normal superglue, and the pen lasts a lot longer than the 2g of glue you get so it works out a lot more economical that it would first appear.

The Construction set worker is asking for a spray of primer, bronze, and verdigris before gluing on a pedestal with a "The Emperor values hard work" plaque.

On the topic of waiting for a price drop i've been keeping an eye on the Matel DC Flying Fox playset and finally managed to pick it up for £22 shipped
it's going to be the perfect firefly-esque spaceship for stargrave or similar games, or stupidly large bit of scenery for 40K for something that could carry Rhinos, Landraiders etc via the opening nose
If you wanted to put the effort in there's enough space in the large front section to game inside if you remove the playset stuff inside which will make a decent building/bunker itself (and add a floor to the spaceship, it's open on the bottom). There's also a rear ramp (needs work to look in 28mm scale)
I have so many plans (which will no doubt fail to turn into actions), but it's good to have the oportunity........ but where i'm going to store it? It's huge

I'm not sure what the plastic is, a lot of it feels too soft to be HIPS or ABS (except for the section with the cockpit), but it doesn't have the 'shiny' feel of pvc
Those gates look very useful for a lot of different projects.
On the glue discussion, I’ve just been using a hot glue gun for all the toy gluing. It’s messy, but seems to be working for now. I’ll have to try that special Loctite glue.
Eilif,did you use a special primer on the doll houses kr any of your other toys? Would Army Painter spray work?
So, a few other things I saw that might be useful:
Acrylic paints at Dollar Tree. Decently big bottles for $1.25 seem perfect for painting terrain.
The beach hut and seashell house might be fun for amusement park terrain or aquatic themed terrain.
Little gnomes for quick civilians/statues, maybe.
A truck for some Mad Max project.
Hot wheels has 1:50 scale batmobiles (and armored batmobiles) for $10.

Sooo, as for the Doll Houses....
I didn't clean the plastic and even though I used my usual Krylon Camo ("with fusion technology" for plastic") spray paints it does scratch of fairly easily. I've got enough other projects that I kept the furniture and tossed the doll houses into the give-away bin. My suspicion is that if the houses were cleaned well and maybe lightly sanded, Krylon Camo spray paint or one of their other plastic-specific sprays would probably adhere well. I've used them as the base layer for alot of soft-plastic repaints. I have moved generally away from soft plastics though when I can.
I'm happy with the garden Gates. Lots of nice texture that paints up a treat. Just picked up a couple more items I'll show soon. A well, campfire and mini-camper with a nice post-apoc look.
Most of the Acrylic paint looks good enough. However, I did find a bottle of a really neat rust red color that I want to experiment with. I'll probably limit it to terrain though. I use craft paint for minis, but usually only the good stuff like Delta Ceramcoat.
Lastly, as for gluing soft plastic, I've had pretty good luck with regular superglues (usually a gel formula) if the surfaces are lightly sanded. Even better with a rubberized superglue like "Gorilla Impact tough" or "BSI IC-2000". I'll have to check out the special loctite. I've used hot glue on some terrain with mixed results. Holds pretty well, but the wrong impact and sometimes it comes right apart.

Definitely. Any additional varnish helps. I did some soft plastic terrain bits with a Brush-dip of Minwax Polyshades and they seemed particularly durable.
Almost nothing is as durable as an additional later of polyurethane!
I'll probably use all three, though I might build up the ground strong the well so it doesn't seem so tall.
The camper trailer is the most interesting. It's all riveted up except the door and window. With a little work it'd make a great post apoc dwelling or storage unit.
Figures are partially painted 28mm Lead Bones pilots.

Also, we've mentioned the Dollar General 4” Final Faction line before. They just released an accompanying Comic Book. Inside the cover is a picture of everything released and announced for the line except for the correct Kharn Vehicle.
The pic below might give folks some ideas on which packs would be useful in their builds. The as yet mostly unreleased Alpha Team Series 2 Accessory Packs look to have some fantastic potential.

Some plastic castles I came across in my quest for affordable fortress walls.
Looks like the same castle with different accessories and almost the same price. At ~12" a side you could make a pretty impressive fortress with 2 sets ~$70.
I'm kind of impressed they included the instructions, this really does make it clear what you get. It looks like you can make the walls into a line, but the towers only have doors on 2 walls and assume you're making a square, but honestly that's easy to fix with a knife and glue.
Note the kids Envying the one with the castle. These folks know good marketing.
I like this totally candid non-photoshopped image of the castle.
Find someone who looks at you, they way these kids are looking at the castle.
EDIT-Just now noticed they built their castle backwards with the doorways on the outside, for easy access, and the arrow slits on the inside. Well that at least shows it would work as a long wall.

Reminds me of a simpler version of the Simba Toy castle from some years back that at least a few wargamers painted up. Had a nice keep and you can still find them sometimes, but they've been out of production for a bit.
