Thanks to Bob over at War of Sigmar

I am guessing Sylvaneth will be releasing before/during the campaign then since its their realm right?

How are you guys preparing your armies? I dont know what size of game to prepare for and only have a few vamps. Thinking of using Stormcast as like automatons that the necromancers have binded souls to. Mixing armies is still allowed right?

Very nice pic.

Im doing Ironjawz all the way. Only the elite of elite Orruk. (Unless im forced to take normal orruks as a core troop choice)

From the rumor Nagash is 700 points, id guess maybe 1500-2k point games perhaps. Being more of a skirmish type game I cant see it being massive (as moving a crapton of models just wastes time.

No idea on a mix of armies like that. Im guessing the generals handbook will keep it the old way of your faction vs faction, so Death, Destruction, Order, Chaos, and that's what your army could be, so no mixing stormcast and vamps, but who knows.

Maybe use the models and use the stats/points for spirit hosts and they are "counts"as

Ah yes prob would be restricted to faction specific models.

Thanks yeah I was trying to think of what I could use them as, bit too big for grave guard I think haha. Spirit host is a good idea cheers.

It was a picture from the new diorama at WHW. It is a little bit tinfoil-y to suggest it's photoshopped when it's from a physical diorama people can go and see. And it's not like they haven't done crazy huge dioramas there before, there's been a few (Ultramarines vs Khorne, I think that was the one which was in the staircase and went up a floor or so, big Calth one with Warlord Titans, think the Tau vs Mechanicus one is pretty big).

Last time I was there(just after AoS launched) they had three large scale fantasy dioramas. There was a Dwarf hold being invaded by Skaven and a Nurgle fortress with a huge army of mortals and demons leaving the gates, both could have been a holdover from old fantasy though. The third was definitely AoS as it had Stormcast and Bloodbound fighting in a ruined city.

Dioramas of this sort usually get done by requiring all of the retail stores to paint up a box or two, then send them in. Not the 'eavy Metal Team/studio painters.

We will start by holding ghost tours every Saturday at 10pm. And that is just the beginning my sharp fanged friend, soon the whole city will be spooked.

If I can actually find a local store that is going to be part of the campaign I would have to spill all sorts of blood for the blood god.

Got enough painted daemons as well as bloodbound that I ought to be able to field something reasonable.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

When it's sales fall to match that of AoS I presume.

Can't tell if sarcasm or....

But maybe next year? Sad Panda has commented they are working on 8th edition for 40k, and a campaign of this kind would be a great way to introduce a new edition. Cross fingers?

Woooooooooo! I can't wait! Hopefully my Hurricanum gets built and painted in time :-)

Although, have we fast forwarded in time, or did those 3 cities come flat-packed? I thought it has only been a year since Vandus and the Hammers first stormed the Gate of Azyr?

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

All I think when I see that is can we have something similar to that released as terrain, similar to the Chaos Dreadhold. They could call it Eternal bastion or Sigmarite Citadel.

Not at all; it's been decades at least. Just the godbeasts book explicitly states that each of the story arcs within take years.

I think they are just putting some spackle and a fresh coat of paint over some defensible ruins and building up from there. If you look to the right, some of those arches have seen better days.

That is mighty interesting I haven't bought a campaign book yet it's a bit pricey for me.

I don't know if this is relevant but there is an interesting tid bit concerning maps for AOS.

Poster: Is there a map of the realms of age of sigmar?

GW: Not yet, The Stormhost have only begun to explore it after the Age of Chaos.

Poster: Not yet, you say? Interesting..

Hmmm I do hope we would see a grand map soon at some point that would be pretty neat to see. Don't you think? Perhaps with this grand campaign we will establish the first main location?

I doubt we will see full maps since its not so much of a landmass thing. Each realm is more akin to its own plane, like those of Magic the Gathering. Going by the circumstantial references we have from the fluff it seems like each realm is much larger than an earth-sized planet (and possibly flat), though with the way they are referenced it seems like they are not infinite (though I may be wrong there). Thus I think the biggest maps we would see would be continent-sized; like a map of the entire firelands.

Hmm that is true making a whole map of each realm would be no small task.

New image dealing with matched play. I think this is important for people who plan to use the matched play part of the general's handbook.

I love that. Essentially "core" units are required so people can't take forces of nothing but monsters and heroes. Plus, depending on numbers this strikes me as a perfect balance of "just restrictive enough" where you need to make army-building considerations, but keeps the spirit of AoS in terms of allowing a lot of flexibility.

That's a big leap from a small blurb.

All it does is tell you that there is a classification called "Battleline units", of which you must include a minimum number of them based on the size of the game. And that the types of Battleline units differ if you're doing a "pure" army with just one keyword.

Also, it absolutely does not keep the "spirit" of AoS. It's now just becoming the same old crap just with new names.

Indeed - it is the direct opposite of the original AoS "Take whatever you want" spirit.

If the rules are actually good now, i´d totally buy myself into fantasy, espacially if the games remain easy and fun (as a lot of AoS players already claim). 40k often feels to clunky to get a game going...
And if this change is REALLY good the franchise might be revived. Who knows. Im hyped!
