Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

I'm sure there's some way to combine these with the Mantic not-Squats (specifically the big armoured suit guys, not the infantry) to make a decent facsimile of a Squat or Demiurg army. That would look pretty cool.

I also wonder if the balloon guys can be mounted on foot with the balloon part ignored, a bit like how you can do it with the Enlightened or whatever the non-ranged Disc-mounted Tzaangors are called. They look pretty awesome on foot, so maybe these guys would as well.

So it's wrong for me to only mostly like them? I have to like them 100% and aren't allowed to state how derpy I think the balloon dudes look?

My apologies. I didn't know I wasn't allowed to have opinions that differed across a range of miniatures and had to have one opinion that fit all the miniatures in a single release. I'll be sure to black and white everything from now on, either 100% love or 100% hate.

You're losing track of all your individual complaints. It's understandable, but the balloon based complaints weren't what was being discussed.

Anyway, mods told us to drop it, so I'll drop it and book my seat ready for Marvin and Eeyore to tell me why I'm stupid for liking AoS or how GW have got everything wrong in the adepticon thread *thumbs up*

I think that I saw a few similar to the baloon-troopers (as in those were the sculpts). Nevertheless, you could just saw them off and add-in jump packs, for example (or nothing).

Considering how many real-world militaries were completely male, I wouldn't consider the gender distribution of an army as a major indicator of their society in the fluff.

Too many people forget this.
Historically, men have been the predominant fighters - a fact duly unfair to both genders.

The more I think these over and look at them the more I find myself interested in the lore. It may be just me but this seems to be one of the first truly original directions AoS has taken since release. I know steampunk dwarvess have been a thing forever, but this is truly a departure from the traditional narrative of AoS armies and I am really digging it.

Consider the prior new faction releases:

Stormcast Eternals: Undying heavenly warriors who serve the maker, a true paragon race that exemplifies good but inadvertently loses a lot of dimensions to their character.

Chaos Forces: Same as always, the polar opposite of order, quite one dimensional evil as we have come to expect

Fyreslayers: Same old berserker dwarves that live underground, obsess with gold and ride giant beasts. Granted a unique aesthetic but not much past that in terms of complexity of their culture.

Sylvaneth: An interesting take on more "earthy" or "spirit" elves and treemen but literally built upon ideas from 8th edition, and classic fantasy fiction of forest spirits.

Orruks: Bigger, meaner, angrier orcs, but not much evolution past classic fantasy setting.

Kharadron Overlords: GW's take on steampunk dwarves; no longer mountain dwelling, axe-swinging, bearded stubby norsemen. Instead they occupy a unique niche, environment and seemingly a point of view and culture that is suggested to be neither "good" nor "evil" as they are said to be militaristic/mercantile raiders and are technologically advanced. (The first new race to feature futuristic technology, predominantly a ranged arsenal and vehicles) I know we know very little about them, but they feel very different from the other races for those reasons. I can see them being a highly mobile, ranged army, perhaps the AoS equivalent of dark eldar playstyle.

However it turns out, it's quite an exciting new release.

I'm guessing that skaven will become clan orientated.. we got Clan Pestilens so expect more divergent themes on those clans, Assasins, Tech, beasties, plague rats, and possibly a basic type of " ordinary rat"

Empire or free people's may well be giants of men raised under Sigmars shadow.

Well the K.O. Will be my first AoS army...

I still don't like the fact that 20 years of fluff just got tossed ..

I have to disagree with this, the City Of Secrets book really starts to flesh out both of these. Tzeentch especially for the Chaos, and the Stormcast get some interesting bits considering this is more about the humans. It hints at some more than Zealous behavior from the SC, and questions the humanity behind the 'purges' and the mental state of those SC that maybe enjoyed it a little much. Also starts to talk about the loss of the more human side of the SC after constant reforging.

'Snot my fault top hats tend to look silly.....

But given my general Aversion to Steampunk, I think GW have done really well here. From what I can see there's none of the needless wafty bits or 'but where are the Warjacks so top heavy' type design. Now, wafty bits and top heavy War jacks put me off, but everyone is of course entitled to enjoy whatever they want

I'm sorry but this kind of art (Alongside Jess Godwinn and Blanche) to me at least, its 3000 times better that the generic free-lance digital painted artwork that Age of Sigmar and W40K its using of late.

Not sure how many caught this, but it seems like painting them to be different clans or such will actually award you different benefits by special rules.

Near the end it describes painting guys a certain way will make your skyvessels "swifter and harder to take down".

Same as the Stormcast really. Now using the rules if they aren't actually exactly the right scheme? That's a currently debated issue on twitter and TGA

I don't think you have to be sorry, everyone probably agrees with you Especiallt the earlier stuff and much of the Stormcast art is just... bad. Luckily the art in later AoS books has been better, Disciples of Tzeentch for example has some stellar pieces.

Can't speak for Skaven but Free People are divided up Into the militarial Free guild, technological IronWeld, fanatical Devoted, mystical Collegiate Arcane and form apart of the knightly Azyrheim Lancehost(with elves), Legions of Reconquest (with Stormcast) and Stonebreaker Battalion(with dwarfs).

I can P.M you some pics and info I gathered if you want.

Also, does that "betrayal of the last king" interest anyone else?

I can see why that's a debate but at least it'd stop the dreaded gray hordes of laziness.

Of course, if it's a case of host recognition I wouldn't see the reason to get worked up like how my hallowed knights are a variety of colors and kitbashes for a varied knight look but are hallowed knights just the same.

Oh I am so looking forward to these..pre-orders maybe next weekend? When does WD come out?
Really hoping the pricing is good- the Tzeentch release looked great so hoping the Overlords are a similar pricing scheme and not priced like the fyreslayers..

They look great- kind of a cross between Zhufbar and Barak Varr- I definitely want a whole fleet!
