So wil Death Guard Nurgle obliterators, mutilators and possessed with veterans of the long war now get a 5+ feel no pain?

Sure seems like it.
Slayer-Fan123 wrote:S8 isn't as spammable, and the primary issue isn't just AP2, but MoN was so important because it helped a ton vs small arms fire. They're 70 point Terminators, with the durability of, well, two Terminators.
Good point, the difference between having that extra toughness really makes them vulnerable to a lot more things making it easier to wear them down.
Where other Legions might alter the codex paradigms by presenting more viable troop choices that will be chosen first to define that army, for IW it'll still be about taking Cultists first and then Obliterators/Mutilators as a secondary troop consideration.

So it would seem so long as it meets all the qualification for a DG detachment. Plus, if say taken in their decurion as the cult of destruction, they can re-roll 1s for failed FNP rolls. That's some necron level durability.

And then there's Word Bearers.
Possessed as Troops is fluffy and all... but they could have at least made them not trash.
The Word Bearers bonus are just so minor. I suppose it makes sense in a way as it doesn't pigeonhole them in to taking anything specific besides Apostles, but at the same time it really makes them the most 'non Legion' of the Legions in a way: the buffs are so slight and conditional you're basically playing CSMs as is.
Hopefully we get a new Codex soon (I'd rather not have yet anoth bloody CSM supplement) that buffs Possessed... Hopefully.

Which version of Possessed would the Death Guard have access to? Would it only be vanilla possessed?
I suppose it doesn't matter with the Purge detachment

So the Death Guard MFD is essentially a Necron Decurion (FNP is worse than RP but they get +1T from MoN) but with actual special and heavy weapon options, and up to 3 units of ObSec Nurgle Bikers?
The Decurion's major downside currently is lack of power shooting and ObSec. While CSM don't exactly have Tau or Eldar shooting, they at least have plenty of options for things like Melta/Plasma/Autocannons. I can see this army being stupid good and used, no question about it.
Alpha Legion will probably also see a lot of play (hello, auto-infiltrating Chosen special weapon units) and I'm sure there's a neat null-deploy Black Legion list in there as well (can you say Dreadclaw Drop Pods?).

Reading these rules has really messed me up... I was literally just about to put my death guard force on ebay (lots of plague marines, obliterators and a tasty possessed squad).
Now even my possessed have a much better chance of being useful not to mention everything else getting a big necron style power boost.
What to do!!!!

I also just came/came to the realization how much better Obliterators got too. T5 AND FNP actually makes them okay footslogging. Never thought that day would happen.

That said I don't think the Relentless bonus overtakes SaP so still no Overwatch with their Flamers. Still...

Cheers. Not great then. The only thing I'm seeing for WB is their DP is a top summoner.

If Word Bearers get to summon on a 3+ do they still perils on any double because they aren't faction Daemon? If so then I might not bother with a WB summoning army.

That's why you use the daemon Prince, who has the daemon rule. And unlike his Codex Daemon equivalent, can take a spell familiar

That's still only 1 pink horror unit per DP you take and I think I would rather roll my DP powers off of Biomancy or Telepathy than try to summon.

Got down to GW to pick up loads of TS stuff. Very impressed by the new CSM decal sheet. Most legions (and the two renegade SM groups favored by GW) have not only symbols in abundance, but two variations on their legion (or warband) symbol.
The use of metallic for the Iron Warriors skull is a really nice touch, too.
Very impressed by the new sheet, and given how much of it is for CSM legions, I'd say that's a good indication that the notion of "legions don't exist, everything is warbands!" is much reduced, at the very least.

You are limited in only casting as many powers per phase as your mastery level (confirmed in recent faq)
The bonus lets you casg one extra power per phase .

Considering how affecting a unit with a blessing triggers rerolls and bonuses to their saves - I recommend your bonus power be Force. Always Force . As it's a blessing.

I just noticed there's a formation missing for Black Legion. The tormented. Does anybody know what it is? Considering BL have a ton of possessed it could be a neat core formation. It is part of the supplement according to the description.

Given the history, it only invalidates dataslates with the same name. Traitor's Hate is still fair game. Black Legion and Crimson Slaughter are probably still ok? They're really bad at things like this.

I would assume the Tormented will be an aux option like it was in TH.
But yes where is our lord? Maybe if we say his name three times he will appear:
VeteranNoob...

Your thinking of the favoured of chaos. The tormented is a BL only(?) formation. It's cheaper but still hits like a truck, especially now that they have hatred. assuming you make into combat anyeway.

Tormented is a BL only formation in their supplement. Basically a Daemon Prince and 3-5 squads of possessed that get sick stat buffs but may only move D6" if they aren't within 18" of the DP
