So to the guys and gals who have been long time chaos legion fans and gamers, what seems to be the general consensus on TL? Are yall happy with the outcome or did yas hope for something more?

Not primarily a chaos fan but hope this does well, GW have been dropping bomb after bomb for a while now, would hate to see the book fall short.
Well, I haven't been playing CSM as long as most people here, but this is something I've been hoping for since I started. I love the fluff of the legions and this gives me the option to choose one and actually make an army that has the feel. I am a bit upset that Nurgle seems to have come out on top yet again, but still excited that Chaos is getting so much and hoping this train continues to pick up speed. I'm probably going to either use TSons or Alph Legion as those are the ones that have the best fluff to me, and I think their both at least playable. I don't play ultra competitive, but I do like to have a chance to win and I think we got that, unless facing one of the ultra OP armies.

Glad to hear some good thoughts on the book, doing a Tzeentch Renegades atm but the Alpha Legion and Nurgle stuff just looks too fun not to try.

We need to know if this item:
Bolts of ecstatic vexation (15) bolt weapons gain blast, ignores cover and pinning
its to the bearer or to the unit

Bolts of ecstaticvexation effects the bearer only. So, no Havocs with four heavy bolters shooting out ignore cover, blast templates. As awesome as that might be....

That's 60 T5, Fearless, FNP marines with a total of 36 rapidfiring plasmaguns per turn. And they're Relentless if I'm not mistaken. And being a ground slogging, troop heavy force, it's actually a fluffy list. Only thing that would make it fluffier would be units of 7 but for this list i just wanted to see how much plasma I could get in there as I said.

Actually since you would meet the requirement for a Death Guard Detachment VotLW is free, you have another 60 points to play with. Still all that AND Objective Secure is scary.

We were reading the leaks for the different warbands to my local GW. The Khorn players freaked out over some of the stuff listed. Had one Night Lord player there, liked the fluffy rules but agreed with everyone there that they had some of the weakest rules overall. Thankfully for him there isn't too much SM in my local meta so Fear goes a bit farther so he was still excited. Even the non-Chaos players looked excited for the release.

I get to play my legion(s) in normal games that play totally different to a deathguard army AND have a good shot at winning the game. It's not the update we wanted, but its the update we needed. Having some legions be slightly better is a small price to pay lol

Now the question is, do I stick with Iron Warriors - my HH army, or do I try dabbling in some other legion? Decisions, decisions....

I'm a Black Legion player at heart but leaning heavily towards khorne. Now I can'T decide what to do. The WE stuff is awesome lol, they don't mess about. They do khrone sooo much better than I can do with a black legion detachment.
My loyalties ar ebeing tested here XD. I really want to be able to combine the two legions. That would make the hounds of abbaddon formation really interesting.

Cool, I guess with how it was written in the original post, I missed that VoTLW was free if they all have MoN. I guess you could use the extra points to get some combi plasmas for the champions to get even more plasma in there.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

Question on the specific text of the Alpha Legion relic, "The Mindveil":
Does its 3d6" move replace your usual move, or can you use the relic's move, and then your regular 6" move?

I wouldn't be so sure there. We have three different movement based relics, any of those units WILL make into assault if you want them to.
Warp talons already got a buff in the raptor talon but now they get free rules on top.
We won't be seeing either of these in a competitive setting, but if you want to use them now, you can. It's not like shooting yourself in the foot anymore.

I feel like trying world eater mutilators in a cult of destruction at least once.

More importanly, does it affect the unit or the bearer only?

At the start of your movement phase you can choose to use this instead of move and thus the bearer and his unit go up to 3D6" and if you do this while locked in combat the enemy cannot consolidate. Sweet.

If I've got it right ( maybe not) a khorne lord and his unit could have a possible 51" threat range turn 1!! Is that right?
Formation relic and army bonuses allow them to

Setup 12"
2d6 before turn 1 with the "not scout" scout move
9" move
2d6+6" charge
All with fleet

Minimum 31" range!

Add in a nearby TS with the jump move relic, and that move becomes 15" ignoring terrain.

Thanks for everything VeternNoob, just a quick question from me. In the Alpha legion army special rule cultist insurrection' is there anything that makes it different from the ability for cultist to come back like in the lost and damned formation? Unless I'm missing something using the lost and the damned is the only way to get cultists into the detachment with the warband.
