Do we know if the Relic Armor for the IW AND NL has a No Daemon Prince clause? Because that NL armor that increases cover could be devastating on a Tzeentch Prince

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

What do people think of allying TS with NL?
You could have a NL detachment with the -1 Ld artifact and a Heldrake Terror pack with another -1 to -3 Ld allied to Ahrimans exiles. You could spam psychic shriek on a 3+ to cast and potentially -4 to your opponants Ld. Could also give the Seer's blade to one of the sorcerors to clean up whatever is left.

Perhaps not very fluffy but is a definite MC killer.

I just noticed something odd. Hopefully, VeteranNoob or one of the more experienced members can chime in on this. I've seen the Night Lords detachment rules and the part concerning the Night Lords detachment is worded differently from its equivalent in the Thousand Sons supplement. Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question.

It says: "any detachment with the CSM faction can be from one of the nine traitor legions." As opposed to "any detachment with the CSM faction can be a Thousand Sons detachment."

Does this mean, RAW, you can only include one detachment with a legion affiliation in an army (assuming the other legions are worded like the Night Lords one)? So no Murder Talon (using the Night Lords detachment as an example) and Night Lords CAD in one army? Or no double Night Lords CAD?

I imagine the intention of the sentence is to mean that you can only take one legion affiliation per detachment, so no mixing affiliations in one detachment, but i can also imagine dudes in the LGW trying to argue the opposite.

Best,
Samii.

Ooooh, finally some news on that. That would indeed prevent the mixing of detachments.
It still applies only to a detachment, so you can have all 9 legions in various detachemtns/formations if you want/can afford, but no Black Legion Thousand Sons dual detachments.

This is what RAW it means.

Hi Roknar, thanks for replying so fast. I think what I meant was: can I take dual Night Lords CAD's in one army, for example, in other words is it possible to dupilcate Legion detachments (not can I mix legion affiliations in one detachment)? There could be situations where I might want one of the special detachments, World Eaters for example, and then a CAD or something to get a WE Land Raider in to transport 'zerkers and Kharn from the WE detachment. Maybe not the best example, but there would be situations where duplicate Legion detachments would be useful. Would be an odd restriction, given that there is no detachment-duplicate restrictions on Chapter Tactics for example.

Best,
Samii.

Looks like they're purely a modeling option. They're left arms, and so they'd still have their staves in the right.

But I'm glad to see them, since that'll make it super easy to equip 30k TS sergeants with swords (presuming that FW doesn't follow the idiotic "staves only" mindset that GW gave us with this release's rules).

You can have as many detachments as you want in your army. Affiliated or otherwise. So yea, no problem at all to have two WE detachments or WE and NL. CAD or these formations based detachments or allied detachments or whatever.
Not Legion allied detachments mind you. They are all Faction: CSM and allied detachments need to be a different faction than your primary detachment. So you'd need a daemon primary or so to allow that.

Exalted sorcerers can exchange their combi bolter for a sword. They still keep the stave.

Yes, thanks for clearing that up, the allied detachment thing is true too actually. Chapter Tactics doesn't have that restriction. However, the Legion traits seem waaayy better from what I've seen than anything the that SM get, so it balances out.

This is a really good combo, perhaps not fluffy, but good nonetheless.

I was thinking of a similar combo between TS and WE. You give the WE Lord the Collar relic to have some anti-psyker for more control of the psychic phase. Then you bring in Berzerkerz and/or better CC units than what the TS have.

<Dynasty> ~10500pts
War Coven of the Coruscating Gaze ~3000pts
Thrice-Damned Plague Corps ~3250pts
Admech (TBN) ~3500pts +30k Bots and Ulator

Well since Arkos is FW, you probably needed opponent/TO permission to use him anyway. In my area, no one would have an issue with you using Arkos in an Alpha Legion detachment.

That would be a FW ruling anyway. But they've been pretty slow on updating their 40k stuff lately, so maybe try harassing them via email until you get a ruling.

Both are a core choice for NL so go right ahead.

@VeteranNoob (if you're not sick of this thread yet ): Is the fortification formation an actual formation or only an auxiliary choice?
