Ah, a return to space marines with pets! Frog marines are experts at subterfuge. Just when you think you've got them cornered - BAM! Frog in the face. Slippery little things.
My painting log is full of snakes Have any retro, vintage, or out of print models? Show them off here! Games I play: 40k (CSM, Necrons); AoS/Fantasy (Seraphon/Lizardmen); Warcry; Marvel Crisis Protocol; Wargods of Olympus/Aegyptus; Mythos

Although there was that story of the Frog Marines on that ocean planet that was subjected to a slow warming process. The heat kept going up but a flaw in the Frog Marines' gene seed prevents them from detecting a steady increase in temeperature and as a result an entire Company was boiled alive.

Although a tragedy to the Imperium, at least now we know that for the tenderest Astartes meat you have to boil them in the shell.

I understand that the original application of the "Harlequines Kiss" was a specialised dining utensil for just this purpose. Power armour being notoriously difficult to crack open.
Thanks for the link to your blog! Here's to 2021, I hope for many more moose marines and truffle dogs.

Does that marine even know he’s got a from on his banner? Merry Christmas turtles, may your 2021 be full of beastmen and fun and in every way better than 2020!

Hadn't seen the update. Frog on banner looks cool, maybe the marine is like the duck man on Discworld and doesn't acknowledge it. "What frog, there is no frog on my banner" Beastman looks cool, great mix of restraint in the pose combined with the very brutal maul.

Beastman looks good too.
Thank you! The frog's got to see what's going on, there might be chaos flies out there to catch!

Thank YOU. This place has been so amazingly supportive, especially during this nonsense of a year. There shall be many more indeed.

Thank you! and the same to you. If you want the beastmen, that is.
theCrowe wrote:The thing that would make that frog perch the best is if the circle in the banner was painted like a lily pad.
Merry Christmas as AT.
Merry christmas and happy new year! also that's brilliant, a lily pad it shall be

Thanks! I was just rereading one of the books with the duck man in it appropriately enough (hogfather, of course)
So, it's a new year! What does that mean? Honestly i have no idea. Years are arbitrary and i have a terrible memory. Let's look forward!
For now i'm just posting a late gift i got, something that will be interesting as it's a style of game i've never played before
Boats!
I hope you all have a happy new years and that 2021 will be an extremely boring year, free of incident.

Armada looks mega! If you get it all put together for a game I'd love to see a battle report. It looks like the kind of thing cheesey Oldschool metal bands sing about.
Armada looks fun, gotta echo theCrowe for getting a battle report, once the first game commences.
Funnily enough had a re-read of Hogfather too this year and couldn't believe the book is nearly 25 years old. And it's so nice when the canting crew mooches mud and boots of the fancy restaurant in the end

I would say that you need some Pirate Rock in your life.

I'm excited about armada too, i've read through the rules and it seems simple enough for me, but with some good variety to the gameplay. There will indeed be a battle report! I've even managed to (very roughly) paint up the two smallest ships. I like them best. The style oddly enough reminds me a bit of the ships in warcraft 2, which is still my favorite of that series. I liked how swashbucklin' it felt. I need to buckle more swashes and hopefully this game will help.
So anyhow, here's the ships!
There's also a report from a couple of days ago (ie: last year) in my blog. It's about snacks.

Looking great, Turtles! Love some fantasy ships. Excited to see the write-up on your blog. My own, meager contribution to Pirate Rock (I used to blast this while running).

Thanks for the compliments on the ships, everyone! I'm still working on the bigger ones, trying the whole "paint the pieces seperately before gluing them" thing, which actually seems to work well with these figures! My goal is to get them finished and play a game by the end of the month.
tzurk wrote:Woohoo! I'm excited for this new piratey adventure - glad to see you are already underway too!
I definitely feel a Warcraft 2 vibe from them - they even have one for orcs and one for humans! Now you just need a gnome sub and a giant turtle...
Happy New Year! Looking forward to seeing what craziness and joy comes out of your blog in 2021
Man... a turtle sub. I loved those. I got to work this out. I do have some plastic turtles that are about the same size... more on that later.
Right now i am declaring something. I am declaring that 2021 shall be "the year of the alien and the mutant".* They're the real good guys of 40k and all other science fiction, humans are boring and they suck. I said it, i'll say it again! So here's a start!
A kitbash of an alienish fellow and their alienish dog! They are friendly i am sure.
*I reserve all right to forget that i'm doing this

Purple's a great start for a color scheme. Next step, add purple highlights, purple wash, and more purple highlights. For the metal bits, Contrast purple over Ironbreaker (mixed with purple). Edge highlights: purple!

Tentacle faced dwarf guy would be a great concept mini for a whole counts-as army. Imagine a whole force of these guys as counts-as guards or orks or tau.
Also, very cute for something so horiffically gribbley. I think lean into the cthulu green and give him some glossy purple eyeballs. If he has eyeballs...
I mean, I like a bit of purple with my minis, perhaps paired with some gold and a bright green? For these guys I think a pale fleshy pink would work great, with a bone colour drybrushed over the top for highlights?

I don't know... i feel like it could use a little more purple

Cute and horrifying! That is my goal. An army would be a lot of fun, sadly I haven't quite got enough of that style of head,

Hm, i i like the fleshy idea. Still needs a bit of purple of course.
DJJazzyJeff wrote:A very friendly sort of purple, I think.
Gonna go to a paint store and ask for their friendliest purple!
No paint yet but here's a couple more! First a tentacle head
And then a nice little snake guy!
The mantic sci fi rat sprues are great for these weapons.
