Of course that will change with the next edition of the General's Handbook

Yes they have. In 4th editon there was a change going on to make things more simpler. We got the Dark Angel, Chaos Space Marine, Eldar codex. The space marines cried/complained/whined the loudest that those books became boring, no soul, lifeless, dull no character so GW reversed coarse and of course the Space marines in 5th edition became nothing like the prior codices were. It had colour. It had character and wasn't dull or boring. That was before Kirby was CEO I believe.

So yes GW listened when their beloved Space Marines loose sales. But that was back then, now GW doesn't listen and still keeps having people roll this then roll that and then roll some more on random charts to roll for this and that again. this was during Kirby as CEO.

What 8th edition will bring? I don't have a clue. That will be after Kirby as CEO. Seeing how the rules are still the same even after Kirby as not CEO hasn't changed and could have, all we can do is hope GW will change when 8th edition comes around since I have no faith GW will change when 8th edition comes out. I fear the change will be smoke and mirrors and while things may be jolly in the beginning, scale creep will come in real fast and all the joy that was in the first few months or even year will be soured once year 2 comes in around.

I hope I am wrong and GW is just waiting for the 30th Anniversary year to release the new rules. Why wait a year when you can fix now? But alas we need to wait and that is all we can do. Wait and hope.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

To be fairly honest, they straight up were boring. CSM 4th edition was a spit in the face after it got Gav Thorped, and as a result of it we have Kelly using that worthless blech as a basis for 6th and is responsible for 3/4ths of the current issues plaguing CSM lorewise and gamewise.

The Scout fix and the Dreadnought fix started off as proposed rules, so yes they have. People complaining about Sisters of Silence and Custodes not having a way to be used in Battleforged armies led to their respective formations. So they obviously listen and have delivered on some of this stuff in the past, but I wouldn't expect them to put overly elaborate stuff into the game. A little tweak here and there. That's it.

Yeah, but is that from Dakka Proposed Rules or just general Internet griping about Dreads being crap / models not being Battleforged?

The only documented case I can think of was an extensive errata for Dark Elves with the help of Druchii.net

It is hard to say. I really doubt they scroll through Dakka. I misunderstood the thread, I took "our" to mean the fandom, not Dakka.

Honestly? No. The community has generally, as a whole, reasonable complaints and addresses the "right" issues but the solution proposed are all over the place. The amount of illogic analysis, wishlisting, clunkyness of proposed rules, fanboyism are appaling.

Albeit, this is something the designers are faulty of, too. Addressed here:

This is why you hire professionals. Maybe, one beautiful day, GW will hire professionals too.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?

Is there some sort of hard evidence you have that GW credited someone's work on the proposed rules section? Did they state anywhere that the feedback provided to them by some number of players on the internet was taken on board and used to write a codex/rulebook?

Yup. Straight from the White Dwarf where the rules update was put in (until the book was updated) Gav Thorpe collaborated with Druchii.net on making the required changes to the army book.

That's interesting. I was unaware they've ever done something like that with one of their flagship games. I know they relied heavily on the community when they were working on a FAQ for BFG back in the day, but I've never seen anything like that for 40k and I don't play fantasy, so that's news to me.

@Blacksails. I'm not sure if they credit Druchii.net in the updated army book. I'll have to check when I get home, but they certainly received credit in WD.

Still better than nothing and honestly a little shocking, but when was that book released? Early 2000's? GW wasn't quite that far gone by then, so its not quite as far fetched if GW were to do it now.

A year, year and a half from now, 2 at the most, we will be awaiting 9th edition! We can re-ask the listening question again then.

and yet, if it they listened to someone like me, the game would be in a much better place, call that arrogant if you like, but I do this crazy thing called playtesting and I run my ideas past all my mates and ajust it so its workable both within the fluff and the game itself, and I'm sure there are a lot of others like myself out there
