I enjoyed bits of all of them. Other bits were crap.
Caveat: I have no "childhood" memories of TF for Bay to trample into the dust. I was in my late teens when TF was a thing in the 80s and not into transforming robot truck people (I was the chem nerd at school).
Shows that I did watch as a kid have been remade into movies in the last 20 years. Did they spoil my memories of those shows? No. They just meant I treasured them more - and I didn't taint those memories by watching the "re-imaging" of them.
I'll give them a watch. At least Wahlburg is an improvement on LaBoofhead.
I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

It has nothing to do with that; they are just bad movies period. It is ok to like bad movies, we all have some we like, but that doesn't keep them from being bad movies.
Also looked at all the posts and no one seems to make the complaint about "ruined childhood" but there are people acting like it was brought up even though it was not brought up.

Even I have limits.
I don't know the movies have managed to stay so consistently bad. Transformers Prime was such a wonderful example of what Transformers can be.

Looks like all the other Michael Bay TF movies if you're a fan of the Autobots, Prime doing flashy action sequences, Josh Duhamel attempting to act and faceless Decepticons dying in droves. Maybe worth a torrent, probably not.

So Prime is floating off into space dead. Then we have a giant planet thing coming to earth. Then then we have Prime back and apparently trying to kill Bumblebee while apologizing. Is it gonna be Unicron with Prime fulfilling Megatron's role?
Also it appeared to be just open war between humans and transformers?

I kind of liked the first Transformers. It made little sense and I didn't like the design of the transformers, but they got Prime's character right and so that was probably enough. And Megan Fox was pretty tidy, that counts for a lot.
From the second film on they've gotten Prime really wrong, and all the other problems have gotten worse. The human sub-plots and comedy routines have gotten longer, the filma have bloated even more. The CGI has gotten more elaborate and longer, and that's had the effect of making the weird robots look even weirder - can anyone even guess at how all their somewhat attached robot bits are supposed to work together? And even the eye candy fails because they've made everyone this weird shade of orange. The fourth* one was on TV, and after about 20 minutes I went and paid bills instead.
*Maybe the fourth one? Where Marky Mark replaces the beef.
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me a second time, shame on me.
But 5 times? By that time I think I'm just asking for it, whilst wearing a target on my back and a dunce cap.
These movies are such pieces of nonsense with such rich kernels of potential that they are both repulsive and impossible to ignore. And then there's the silky tones of Peter Cullen.
As always, this movie is going to suck, be full of pretty gross things (maybe a mix of racism and jingoism), be an utter disaster of storytelling, be chock full to the gills of useless side characters, run for 3ish hours of which 30 minutes will be Transformers and still make a bank because the movie going public are idiots with too low standards.
It's not so much "ruined my childhood" that irritates me and gets me so annoyed about these films.
It's the wasted potential. Transformers when I was young, really did properly mean something to me. - I remember a comment from someone on an animation interview show I watched a couple of weeks ago.
"In the 80's, you'd have kids fathers out there, working all the time. For those kids, Optimus Prime really was, in a lot of ways, a surrogate father to them."
I wouldn't go that far for me, but Optimus Prime certainly did mean a lot to me, and certainly him dying in the 1983 film (which I saw years later on tv and never saw the final episodes of the show when he came back to life. - So he simply was 'dead' as far as I knew, except for that one terrifying zombie episode I saw...) - Well, it was a really big deal for me.
Anyhow, that's a sidetrack. It just annoys me that these mass media, mass market films are wasting these opportunities. They've got a far wider reach than any transformers cartoon would ever have, there's so much potential there to influence people across the world that, "freedom is the right of all sentient beings." And other, ultimately cheesy but, to be honest, well meaning, good, things. - And there was tiny hints of it in the 2007 film with the various Spielberg touches. But they were never really carried on.
So yeah, I'm just disappointed about the whole thing.

Transformers really existed just to sell toys, The show did aswell. The show, just like TMNT, He-man, Thundercats where just marketing ploys. Like all cartoons ultimatly are.

You mean like every mass market consumer product ever created is?
That is a complete non-sequitur and really has no impact on the points I'm making.
A lot of people have a lot of love for Transformers back then and still do now. And it's not just because they're seeing dollar signs.
In that same show, they shared an anecdote with Peter Cullen who was doing voices for, I think it was Transformers Prime athe time. The new voice director had instructed Cullen to change up his delivery of his lines. Cullens response. "Optimus would never say it that way." And he was right.
I would imagine he doesn't get influence in the films in anything lke the same way

You know what killed my childhood? The original transformers animated movie. All those great transformers died, and we got gakky replacements.
Compared to that these movies are fine.

TMNT started off as a small indie comic, then it hit movies and cartoons and merchandising.
