Siiiiiiiiiiigh.
Because it has quite a considerable following and is far from dead. And makes a pleasant change from yet more marines and heresy. Seriously, getting to boring with the umpteenth marine variation.
It must be a hit overseas, but I don't hear or see anyone in the States talk about or play it.
Oh it certainly has it following in the states. Off the top of my head there's the DC hobbit league which is pretty much twinned with the GBHL. If you're not interested in the game and don't look, I'm not surprised you don't know about it.

I am not interested in Infinity either, but I see that getting played and promoted. So that isn't exactly true. I literally have yet to see anyone play Hobbit or hear about any events with it. Must just be for the dedicated player. *shrug*
So a couple of videos from the Horus Heresy Weekender have been uploaded to the Warhammer Community page. Probably doesn't tell you anything you don't already know, but it's interesting.

Even if it's for a system you don't play, more models means more bitz for conversions.

Every topic has to have a person crying about something getting picked over another thing.
Verv is in this one, Peregrine is in another......
They are as tired of waiting for the ONE thing that will make their life complete, almost as much as the rest of us are tired of listening to them complain.
I'm disappointed in general about FW pushing Marines so hard, at the expense of all else. Even more disappointed at the complete lack of news about FoC, and the rumor that even more marines take spotlight in it. I'll bake myself a Tau/Mechanicus cake on the year anniversary of it being announced.
Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

Great, now I am triggered. Thanks!
Verviedi wrote:I'm sure Vyronii will be released with FoC, they're both tangetially related to Mechanicus.
They were more related to the HH4 Conquest release that introduced us to the Questoris list. Or more related to the recent Imperialis Red Book with the Questoris list in it... and it is a HH House, not a modern one.
And somehow they got the Makabius ones out in little time, but Vyronii seems just impossible to produce (despite them being finished).
I understand the frustration. IMHO, they should have started with Angelus instead of doing it as the 8th book.....
However, if you ran a business that made things, and some of those things sold 1000 times more than one of your other things.... which of those things would you make?
Soooo, yeah...

I get that when regards models - what to release, what to invest in, how many to produce, scheduling, etc.
I do not get that when it comes to decals, which are literally just printed out to order!
EDIT: I can't be sure you were talking to me. If not, disregard. I am just venting ....again/still.

I severely doubt that a HH book will sell a thousand times better than FoC. It may sell slightly better, yes, but Tau, Mechanicum, Mechanicus, and Marine players are a larger market than HH players.

Peregrine wrote: Surprised nobody got to this yet, a bunch of new Hobbit stuff up today. It's a shame nobody plays the game, the models are certainly better than the AoS trash GW has been putting out lately.
Nice looking models but not enough poses and I'm guessing they're going to be too expensive.
A big part of what made LOTR great (for me at least) was that for the price of a 40k or WHFB army I could buy several forces for LOTR, the models looked good AND even though they were monopose there was usually enough variety that I didn't really mind (infantry typically came with 12 poses, cavalry with 6). Being monopose actually meant a lot less work in putting them together and painting them.
The resin models look nice, but fall down on price and variety of poses.

Imperial Armour 1: 2nd Edition no longer available from what I can see. IA13 also missing? Looks like they may be attempting to clear out older books, maybe ready for 8th edition versions?
My FLGS owner (who has connections to someone who knows a guy who works at FW, or something like that) recently mentioned FW is planning to get to terra sooner rather than latter, with the Battle for Terra coming early 2018. They will then head back and the books after that women will all be before Terra, up until they add to Istvann III again.

Let's not forget that "HH player" isn't a single market, either. Even the few things available to all Legions won't necessarily be attractive to everyone, while faction-specific models have a relatively narrow slice of the market. I can't imagine that 30k Custodes will really outsell all 40k releases combined.
Thank you for that note. So HH: Inferno appeals to players of three different factions (Wolves, TS, Talons) in 30k, whilst Fires appeals to 40k Marine, Mechanicus, and Tau players.
Marines and Tau are very large groups, from what I've seen, so that's even better.

Not happening. Angelus is the next book and that won't be out early 2018, let alone before that in time for Terra to come then.

Here in Germany lotr/hobbit is more alive than it ever was. Having a look at the tournament schedule it looks as if the TOP4 games in Germany are X-Wing, 40K, 9th age, hobbit. I wouldn't call the game dead - not anymore at least.
Really liking those dwarfs - but then all the dwarfs in the range are beautiful with some outliers like the rangers.
Also I'm happy that I don't like the trolls that much. If there was one without helmet but with club I'd like it

I would guess the HH campaign books are more profitable as they are now £21 more expensive than the most expensive IA book, which was made by combining 3 of the old editions into 1 extra large book. While I can see that the HH are going to be more expensive to produce I do not believe it costs that much more to produce the HH books... Then you have that nearly all of the rules in the HH campaign books are for brand new models, so the HH books are driving new model sales and development, where as FoC will be mostly updated/40k rules for existing models that a large chunk of the buyers' of the books already own.
Doesn't mean as a Mechanicum player I'm not fed up that FoC isn't already out.
I honestly, seriously doubt we'll see Fires of Cyraxus before 8th Edition arrives. It'd be stupidity to release it at the tail end of 7th in addition to being completely frustrating as a player to see it released and then, within months, getting invalidated requiring a FAQ to work with the new edition. And we know how fast Forgeworld put out their FAQs...
