Basically it's a phaser or disruptor, straight out of Star Trek; one shot doesn't just kill, it vaporises the body.

Too bad the fancy gold marines are trash rules-wise, they cost almost as much as jetbikes that have double the firepower, better durability, and much better speed. FW really screwed up the balance there.

That Karacnos... so beautiful. I wants it. Also, those Custodes look great.

Adrastus Bolt Caliver: 30" Heavy 3 Heavy Bolter / 12" S5 AP2 Assault 1, Instant Death, Armorbane, Gets Hot.

They look cool and all, but not the best thing Emperor's buddies can put on the field *shrugs*

The wielders are also surprisingly tough - to the point you'll ideally be wanting melta or plasma to deal with them thoroughly - and if your squads are getting that close, chances are they've taken a bit of a mauling in the process, and may be leaving themselves wide open to a bit of hand to hand with other Custodes squads.

Me, I like them - and seeing as I've nearly, inadvertently collected a Custodes force (Squad, Dakka Tank, Dread) it won't cost too much to flesh them out into a full, stand alone army.

Custodes transfer sheet back in stock as well, woop!

I heard that Fires is delayed because they're changing it to the 8th Ed rules.

Well, that is a good reason for the delay, and I suspected that this might be the case. It would be super annoying to finally have this book only to be swiftly invalidated by the new edition.

I'm actually glad if that's the case. As much as I want that book NAOW, it's better to wait for it to be done, and updated to the new edition.

Pity the unfortunates who spent 100 quid on a book (Inferno) that's soon to be invalidated? Or will HH rules keep the old rules set? If so, I'm even more tempted to buy into FW Custodian goodies

I'm betting Fires ends up being a campaign/fluff book only and all the unit rules end up being downloadable if they go that way with 8th.

If it was like the AoS campaign books with unique formations and mission special rules, I still wouldn't complain.

Fires will be coming out 1 week before 8th drops, instantly invalidates it just to annoy all those waiting for it.

I'm expecting FW to drop FAQs close to day one followed up by new Army List books that will contain all of the rules in the big books. I would rather they did it that way as I hate taking out the big books for games.

Can we just stop with this please? They are categorically not Space Marines. Yeah, they share some characteristics, but they are significantly larger, have quite different rules, aesthetically don't even match that well and are actually fairly unique by Imperial standards.

Custodes are Marines, Terminators are Marines, Legionaires are Marines, Primarchs are Marines, Marine vehicles are Marines, chaos space marines are Marines, Space Marines are Marines.

When it comes down to it though, Custodes are just as unique from Space Marines as Scions are. They have considerably diffierent rules, and share very little equipment. The new stuff they are producing for Custodes is much more unusual than the stuff for Marines, things like Imperial grav-tanks.

I get it, I want to see xenos and Guard too, but Custodes are not Space Marines.

Anything in Marine-esque power armor is hereby a Marine in my perception, until FW starts releasing things that aren't Marines on a regular basis.

Besides the admittedly pretty neat Mechanicum and Auxilia lines Forgeworld has been crapping out a steady stream of power armored blah for the better part of the last 2 years. For anyone not interested in Marine Circlejerk: The Game, there's been almost no reason to care about forgeworld's existence.
