Subject: PETA asks GW to ban Fur from Warhammer characters
PETA is possibly the biggest group of self-righteous hypocrites out there.
PETA protests against euthanasia, yet have MUCH higher euthanasia rates than the shelters they protest.
Their president protests against animal-based life saving medication (going so far as to literally state that people should be denied that medication) yet she herself is a diabetic that uses insulin.

Of course PETA is often a joke. But it still begs the question, whats the point of the fur on the new stormcast. I mean it is literally just there with the only function to look cool, its not like they need it. Come on I bet there are some Humans out there who ware freezing their ass off, who would love some fur. Don't Stormcast have some heart.

They were rangers and scouts in their old lives. Most likely barbarian warriors, hunters, gamesman and trappers. Its as much a part o what they were as it is to set them apart from the other Stormcast.
Even then, PETA needs to butt out.

I mean, fifty bucks is on the line.
There's no rule that says I can't.
Edit: Dammit, you fixed it as I was typing! I totes changed it back for posterity!
HA! Yeah, totally freudian! lol I didn't even realize how funny that was until a few minutes later! The pre-edit version is better!
Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

Wait, what were we talking about again? Did I ever tell you about the time I gave you five bees for a quarter? That's what you'd say in those days, "give me five bees for a quarter", is what you'd say in those days. And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..."

I decided to post a comment on the page, but just in case I get censored, I'll repost it here verbatim.
The Warhammer 40,000 universe is supposed to portray a cruel and malevolent setting utterly devoid of any humanity or kindness, as summarized in the phrase "grimdark," which is commonly used to describe the setting. It seems to me, that in a universe composed entirely of immoral villains, hell bent on exterminating literally everything they cannot enslave or exploit, expecting the characters to suddenly stop wearing fur out of moral considerations in entirely missing the point.
Scratch that. I didn't realize there were other comments until after I posted. It seems that at least 50 other people made the same point that I did

Could also say that as none of it is real and is all made up, its missing the point.

Ughh, congrats PETA, now you have me defending GW. I feel dirty already.
"Hmm, that fur on Horus looks badass, I might go and buy some real fur to wear." - No geek, ever.....
Roundtree, if he replies at all is likely going to give them a polite, no. PETA will probably make a deal and whine to the media along the lines of "See how bad this evil ignorant company is." Then you will get people who have never heard of GW who will take PETA's side at face value and think they actually have a point.
End result, our hobby is going to get another black mark against it's name, all for some asanine non-sequitur made by a bunch of fanatics, and with the typical fanatic's tenuous grasp of reality and antagonistic relationship with logic and rationale.
The only saving grace here is that it is so ridiculous it is self evident so hopefully more people will see this for the sham that it is rather than take PETA's words for granted.

Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.

People paying heed to PETA? Dude do you consider that a black mark? To that kind of people our hobby is almost akin to The boondocks' Uncle Rufus already.
"More people", more like everyone and their mother (unless they are already in PETA's ranks).

What if this is all part of a cunning plan to drive SW sales?
> GW announces they will comply with the demand
> All fur to be removed from Space Wolves within 3 months
> Everyone buys the current range before they get removed
> GW makes a ton of cash
Just as planned.

Nothing wrong with killing, as long as it serves a real purpose rather then for sport or fun. You hunt, you kill for food shelter warmth as long as you use the body for a purpose the death had a meaning.
PETA should be happy they wear the fur rather then letting it rot and serve no cause.
I need to go to work every day.

Ah, a bunch of morons who think their opinions matter and actively murder a gak ton of animals don't like our plastic models having fur on them.

They have a surprisingly large following of people who don't actually look into what they do closely and they fund several terrorist animal life groups.

"Indeed, nothing on the bloody battlefields of Warhammer’s war-torn world could match the horrific reality that foxes, minks, rabbits, and other living beings experience at the hands of the fur trade."
... I'm going to indulge myself and eat a steak this week, just for you, PETA. I wasn't going to, but then I read this nonsense, and a good steak sounds REALLY nice right now.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

As an animal lover, this kind of crap infuriates me.
This move does nothing to actually help animals, or reduce animal suffering in the world. It just makes those concerned about animal mistreatment look like fething lunatics.
Feth you, PETA. Stick with what you know - stealing and killing people's pets.

In the USA, if you want to donate to animal-lover groups, I recommend the Humane Society. Its various state branches usually have pretty good reputations for dealing with animal rights in a practical manner-- caring for strays, ensuring there's no abusive practices, pushing for investigation of animal cruelty cases, ensuring practical protection of wildlife, etc. I know the Humane Society of Texas is usually very well respected by people in the state, regardless of political leanings.
PETA is garbage. We have far better groups than them.

Man, thanks for the laugh. Better no one tells them about Ogres.
Ogres aren't real. Animals are and this does show fur as being acceptable and a sign of status.
Space Marines, Fenrisian Wolves and Chaos Warriors aren't real either.
Thought for the day: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
