The lack of variations with primaris is really going to hurt sales once the "Ooo shinny" effect runs out. Its going to be pretty boring when primaris are just color swaps in a way astartes never were because they are devoid of anything interesting but different colors. Will be worse if the codex is slim on units too. Ecery primaria army will be the same exact models but with different colors. The only potential difference will be from people with deep astartes bitz boxes.
Furthermore, highly specialized but good at nothing is so far what primaris seem to be all about.
Maybe this is a trick to buy more astartes models....

I think it's a Bolt Rifle and an Auto Bolt Rifle, judging by the magazines. Also one of the lieutenants in Dark Imperium has an Auto Bolt Rifle, looks just like it.
Eh... I'm with HBMC, it's really not a 'choice of weapons' but a 'choice of accessories' if they have differing rules that's great but calling it a weapon option is a bit disingenuous.
It's two different weapons using the same body. It's like how the Tactical and Devastator Marine kits let you build a Combi-Weapon.
Hopefully there will be a more meaningful difference between the two ruleswise than the difference between the Stalker Boltgun and Boltgun (+6 range...and that's it. It should have the sniper rules added on). If the Stalker Bolt Rifle is a Sniper type weapon, and it is Master-crafted so it does two wounds per shot, that would be nuts.
Being honest here, I'm not sure why this is being called a "Stalker Bolt Rifle". It doesn't have the hallmark "stub" that they gave the Stalker Boltgun's barrel.
Because the pdf with the point costs (on both models pages) include the points for a 'stalker bolt rifle.' It isn't a leap to assume the new weapon listed is one of the weapons in the kit.

Also, the Captain's two weapon options appear to be the Stalker Bolt Rifle (the one with the scope) and an Auto Bolt Rifle. Weird that there is no option for just a plain Bolt Rifle.
The Model's blurb actually point out the box mag version as the Stalker rather than the scoped one:
"or master-crafted stalker pattern bolt rifle, with a box magazine and overcharger".

No, an Auto Bolt Rifle is an Assault 2 Bolt Rifle with no AP (that has to be a mistake). A Master-crafted Auto Bolt Rifle does 2 Damage per shot. Whatever the hell difference the Stalker variant makes is beyond me. I know that it sure as hell doesn't make any sense with the name Stalker to have it be the automatic version.

We've beaten that horse so many times it's like playing the xylophone by now.
GW pricing on single character kits accounts for them only ever selling you one of those per standard army. You may question how much of a premium is warranted for this, but unless you spent the last couple years completely isolated from anything GW, it shouldn't be a surprise.
As for learning their lessons, we've also seen multiple starter options announced at very reasonable prices (by GW standards).

Luckily a left-handed melee weapon on the rifle-wielding lieutenant from the starter makes a perfectly fine version of the new clampack captain. And without buying him in the starter, will cost you like 3-5 dollars on Ebay right now.

I convert a ton of characters simply because of how expensive the clampacks are. GW would probably get more of my money if they were cheaper, and these new space marines are no exception. I dont see myself getting them at all at that price.

What is going on with these prices? It's driving me to look at other game systems where I could buy whole squads for the price of 1 model from GW.

I called it. Primaris are gonna have the overpriced Stormcast prices of AoS.
And thats even before they reboxed the basic kits to reduce them like 40% per model. (It was before 40€ for 5 Liberators, now is 49€ for 10)
I expect that smaller heroes for new factions aren't gonna be cheaper than 20€. Kharn at 29€ was one of the first with this prices. 20-25€ is gonna be the new price range for 8th new armies.
Just look at AoS for references! (The Changelig is now 25€ for example)
I always find funny how I can buy 60 historical miniatures from Perry or Warlord for the price of 1 GW hero
So, just like with Stormcast... vote with your wallets. They reboxed the Stormcast infantry because nobody bought them at those prices.

To me that part of their fluff open tons of posibilities. For others probably will kill what makes Chaos Space Marines special. Or I don't know, other kind of totally legitimate criticism to that part of their fluff. But for me it works!

It continues to come up because GW continue to outdo themselves. These kits seem to be priced even higher than the Stormcast single model characters. Also a lot of people do spend years at a time "isolated" from anything GW in the sense they only pop up to check armies they're interested in. There are obviously fans who follow every GW release, but many of us just pop in and out when armies we care about are released. Also it seems GW these days does fish through internet comments so we might as well keep bringing it up so they know it's an issue and they don't just think no one liked the model. As for learning their lessons, we've also seen multiple starter options announced at very reasonable prices (by GW standards).
I love the way you have to qualify "reasonable" as being by GW standards

Actually, Roboute absolutely refuses to use Primaris from the eleven other chapters. So far, they haven't been fielded.
But according to sort-of-Cawl, the trials have been a success. Roboute's just being unreasonable, it won't be a problem and everything will be perfectly fine.

Right - if one were to look at the price of a painting canvas for example, one would be equally shocked if they were comparing it to simple posters.
That's how GW views these character pieces - high quality plastic canvases.
Whether you like it or not that's the idea.
