He is so strong I'm shocked they didn't increase him a tad. All I see are Gulliman spam lists in my area. The local tournament's top 2 players were nearly identical Gulliman lists with razorback spam or whatever the current favourite is. He even shredded the feared flyer list out there with him.

Picked the codex up last night.

Had a quick flick through and quite enjoyed the new fluff.

Has anybody mentioned that there's some pics of the apothecary with helmet and different pistol in there? looks really cool

Yes, looks correct. Without it in front of me my only point of ref is i believe the thunderfire cannon has been reduced very slightly and the points there match up to the ones i read last night and the layout etc is the same.

Its a very nice book, (i also picked up some aggressors..... OMG, had to order another box straight away).

My only criticism of it all is that im so sick of reading Smurf propaganda and looking at smurf models it was a bit draining, found myself flicking over everything blue and reading anything but, despite the fact i was mainly interested in the Fists fluff. There's just bits here and there that i found interesting.

No. If you would kindly snap a picture and upload it, it would be greatly appreciated.
The other pistol is the same pistol the Chaplain has. It is called the Absolver Pistol.

I am sure they will.

But at the time GW sent the files for the 8th Edition Space Marines Codex to China for printing, the Guilliman miniature likely wasn't even in the stores yet, much less 8th Edition.

With Indexes being soft cover, its not implausible those were printed AFTER the Space Marines codex hitting the stores now.

This is an old logic that no longer applies. This was true when point costs were printed on the same page of the model. If you wanted to correct points, you would have to reprint that page.
Now all the points costs are on 1-3 pages. You can change those up to 2 weeks prior to printing, for minimal cost.

Anyway, if i'm correctly reading those French points, we have the following changes:

Captain terminator -17
Librarian terminator -2
Techmarine -13
Centurion Assault Squad -20
Chapter champion -5
Company champion -16
Ironclad -40
Attack bike squad -10
Bike squad -6
Inceptor -15
Land speeder -10
Scout bike squad -2
Centurion devastator +15
Hellblaster -2
Predator -12
Stalker -10
Thunderfire cannon-27 gunner +10
Vindicator -25
Whirlwind -15
Drop pod -10
Land speeder storm -10
Chaplain cassius -40
The emperor's champion -33
Marneul Calgar -50
Sergeatn chronus -23
Sergeat Telion -14
Lightning claws -1/-1
Thunder hammer -4
Power fist -8

Seems legit. They mostly lowered the cost of the stuff that wasn't seeing any play. Guilliman kepts his cost, like the flyers and transports.
The oddball here are the centurion devastators. In my area i didn't see any, yet they got a +15.

I get the feeling that the Centurion increase was because people still believe their are amazing despite the fact that they are absolute garbage with the gigantic Nerf to Grav.

Even if they can change it 2 weeks prior to printing, its those 2 weeks, another week or two for printing and a month to 6 weeks to ship the books from printers in China to distribution centres and from there to stores.

You're still looking at having to finalize those changes around early May at the very latest (though I don't think that is realistic, even with points on the final pages. I would think GW would have a comfortably safety net there for shipping mishaps, etc.., rather than risk not having Codexes on continent X just so they can change a few point values).

Pre-orders for Indexes and the new edition started in early July.

And again. Indexes are softcover with "printed in Westdale in the UK". Codex is hardcover and "printed in China", cutting out significant shipping time (larger than the release gap between Index and SM Codex) for the indexes.

Those point changes just as likely are changes made by the playtesters FROM the Codex version to the Index version (e.g. dropping points on Centurions, upping the price on Terminator characters, etc..).

Cool. When you get the chance, tell me if the cost of terminators has really dropped-- most notably, the cost of fists, claws, hammers, and shields, as I don't think the units themselves changed cost.

edit: oh wow, just saw the above post. So nice!

I find the pointincrease for Devastator Centurions to be quite ... odd. They went from stupidly expensive to even more so.

Happy about most of the other changes. Glad they fixed the Powerfist/Thunder Hammer "issue" where they both cost 20 pts on non-characters. The TH was always the better choice.

And here I was thinking about getting 6 of them and running them with Pedro, an apothecary or two and a Lt with the Fist (plus company standard) plus ah honor guard.

All Heavy bolters + hurricane bolters. Maybe a Grav cannon or two for the luls when he dies (before being brought back up).

You feally need those apothecaries behind them keeping them in the fight.

I strongly disagree, the codex points feel much more "updated" than the index points.

My 2000 point Salamanders army dropped enough in points to put my bike squad back up to 5 from 3

Yeah, if I wanted to add another scout squad I could add another barebones one (shotgun, boltgun, or combat knife) to my own list.

I don't, because assembling scouts is a total pain in the ass, but I could, and the option of being able to makes me smile.

So, I'm assuming something like the Ven. Dread. with Autocannon/ML loadout is no longer 'legal' since its option for that loadout has gone completely: or can you still use the index for said model?
That's eating up my point savings upgrading those to las-arms.

Why would they update something they knew was going to be changed back in a couple of weeks?

On the other hand, it doesn't seem possible that there was enough time to use any information from after the points cost had been set in the index to update the costs in the codex, as you point out.

I think the only explanations which make sense are that the books were written by different people who disagreed about what things should cost based on the same data or that GW has a policy of just changing things slightly at random so that people feel they are getting their money's worth with new rules.

The community site said index dataslates but latest points values.

So in the event a twin autocannon has changed in price, use the new price basically.

power fist dropping in price make sense - hope it's real. Tactical terminators need to be viable.

Per the images it is. It is 4 pts cheaper than a Thunder Hammer, which is good. I am glad there is actually a reason to take a Power Fist instead of a Thunder Hammer.

I can understand that working for models/units that no longer feature in the new book, but those that have simply had their options altered? Seems a bit wonky.

Any pictures of Intercessors in the Codex that look like they might be from the full kit instead of just the easy builds?

Pretty sure the ones in the preview images posted are from the regular kit. There is one with an Auto Bolt Rifle that we haven't seen anywhere else.

Has anyone actually seen an Aux grenade launcher? I wonder if they will make a model for it.

Does this count as a combi weapon? Or does it count as throwing a grenade?

Yes. I saw a picture somewhere. It basically just looks like a second barrel on the bottom of a bolt rifle. I will post it here if I can find it.
