It doesn't look like a Historical kit, but it looks very normal sci-fi. Like Horus Heresy Stuff. And i think thats right, because Primaris are basically Horus Heresy marines in 40k.
The Organ-gun tanks are for the proper 40k armies.
But it isn't like Space Marines vehicles have, in some poin in time, not been "boring": They are boxes. Boxes with guns. Or Flyng boxes with guns.

So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Well the Rhino is based on the FV432 and the M113 and the YPR-765 is an updated M113.

In order for me to squint hard enough to make the Repulsor look more historical than scifi, I think I'd end up giving myself a subconjunctival hemorrhage.

It's almost as if this logic you speak of is not an officially stated position and the community has instead begun attributing intent with no evidence to support it. Then we have examples where rather than question whether this position is true (that models can only have what's in the kit), the community questions why the 'rule' isn't being applied everywhere, despite them never once confirming this is the way things are.
The alternative being that GW is, despite being a moderately large international corporation, engages in capricious and erratic fits of behavior regarding the release of their notable new releases on their flagship product line? I'm not sure which is worse.
Ok well I present as evidence for the theory: every single other primaris kit.
None have options that aren't in the box. Not even simple kitbashes, like having a plasma pistol or a power sword - except for some reason the intercessor sergeant. He gets the option for a power sword that he doesn't massively need.
in fact though, the ultramarine upgrade kit gives you a power sword option, as does the 30th anniversary marine. So they kind of had to provide rules to allow somebody to use the thing.
Incidentally, it's not the community making up this policy. GW have explicitly said that their codexes contain rules for models that they make. That's why there are no rules for stuff like librarians on bikes or techmarines with conversion beamers. I think they've taken it a step too far by not even allowing us to do kitbashes.
That said, the policy isn't universal. GKs now get chaplains, for which there's no model.
Whatever the policy is, I don't like it. I want to be able to equip my characters with different gear. The primaris captain is gimped by only having access to a standard power sword, with which he can never do much damage, while the gravis captain has to pay for a master-crafted power sword that he'll never use. Neither is able to use most of the chapter-specific relics in the codex, as they can't take the weapons that those relics replace.

The Intercessor Sergeant, but also the Hellblasters seem to lack the option of building the Rapid Fire version of their guns in their full box. That'll either take some conversion work or the Dark Imperium models.

I don't have the kit ,but it sure does look like the LR sponsons would fit on the sides. I feel like the chassis in general has the room to expand with different turrets and sponsons in the future if GW chooses to get more mileage out of those sprues.

I assembled mine yesterday
it seems smaller than a normal rhino side door and its inset so might not fit a predator sponson ether.

Having fun getting the big dread together, the fits are incredibly good.
Did magnets in the weapon arm, the fist I am thinking about it.
Leg sections are made to be insanely poseable which makes assembly more "interesting".
I was planning on a plain base and now think due to all that work it would be a shame to ignore that.
I am still torn on adding Primaris to my main Black Templar army or have them all Ultramarines with Guilliman.

Is it possible to build without the front armor?

Sure, and it looks like minimal work to fill in or remove/alter the hinge points, if that's really what you want to do. Looks very exposed and really, really vulnerable to me, though, so I'm building mine fully enclosed.

Mh well may be like the crusader, bearing anti-light-infantry weapons. But it simply lacks anti-tank weaponry, like the twin linked lascannons.
May be not those but as a new tech giving it sponsons with new weapons that are yet not available may be some pre-heresy tech.
It simply has still potential for variations.

You just leave off a support piece on the bottom and then the two offending armor pieces and its all good. Filling can be done to tidy it up if you want.

I dunno...
Without the armour it's a bit too "free the nipple" for my tastes. Still, cool model.

in fact I think it's proably more structurally sound without the armor peices, don't get me wrong the "open close" bit is actually kinda cool. but I can defiantly see it being the source of damage.
