Ended up having to cover up dark eldars from my team on last round of escalation league. Ended up rematch vs deathwatch. Ended up quite an turkey shoot despite me not even having maxed up army(made even last minute changes neutering list further...)

Got first turn and he had way too much stuff open. So dread with twim lascannon and missile dead to pylon, immortals torched bikes(he deployed so close didn't even need to advance) and destroyers took out redemptor dreadnought. Turn 2 flyer and razorback dead and by now i had just 8 model dead and like 75% of his were dead.

He got nightbringer, warlord(hadn't even bothered to screen him). But lost his last squad that was serious threat. After he downed dda pylon shot twin autocannon contemptator, destroyers took out warlord and immortals librarian and lone terminator.

With like 3 basic primaris left and necrons 10-6 ahead called here.

He picked worst deployement zone for him, deployed way too front and open and while my dices were hot as hell his was ice cold.

Never used my deathmark that died when i forgot to bring them from reserves

Lothlorien with rohan ally vs mordor and beasts in hold ground. As is usual for me vs this guy in these stuff comes randomly my cavalry ends up pincushioned between shelob and stuff and dies. But 27 elves fought, broke enemy and was turn from swamping objective. Wow. Closest to win vs this guy and learned respect for these relatively cheap elves with elf swords that give tons of flexibility

(All the elves were on other side of the board watching as all humans died not doing anything)

@Hawky

It is obvious that that AdMech have a tech priest who is really into collecting classic cars. The Marines were probably just preventing theft out of principle.

@aphyon

It is good to see Dust showing up every now and again. Are the current rules bad for infantry now? The Allies went with a lot of heavy walkers save the Pelican and the not-Mickey walker (the Rattler maybe?). I also don't recognize the Allies hero pilots at all.

The SSU looks to be mostly spamming repair walkers and Steel Guard. Which I guess Steel Guard are Infantry, but just barely at level 4. Though I see what could be a gun track in the trees at the back. Still a far cry from what I struggled against when my opponent played SSU (so many Mao tanks).

P.S. If I didn't know better, I would say that is the Game Matrix you are playing at too.

A brutal game between Goffs and Black Legion which started as one kind of mission, but my opponent and I decided to just go with a whichever team broke first kinda of mission as we both just wanted our teams to attack each other. It ended up a tie as we both broke at the same time. It was a lot of fun. Being the 3rd game of the day, it was a little more low key, but we both know Kill Team really well and kept the game moving quickly. It had been a while since Beseeching the Dark Gods found one of my marines unworthy, but they did this game.

The 2nd game of the day was a massive Black Legion and Kroot vs. Leviathan game with a massive Forge World model, a Lictor and some Warriors in the Tyranid team. The Nid player didn't really respect the combi-melta I had and it made him pay dearly for it doing 6 damage in a single attack. Also Heavy Flamers are really good at dealing with Lictors. The big model took some effort and went down swinging taking my combi-melta and chainfist marine with it. Afterword, for a single round my terminators opened up on the Kroot with the Heavy Flamer killing 4 in a single gout of flame.

Note: The Land Raider was mostly terrain. The Tyranid player did use its guns to shoot the Kroot after the game was basically over though.

In Kill Team when you lose more than half your units (every model is a unit) that team's Leader (or designated leader if the original is removed) must make a Leadership test called a Break Test. In the Ork vs. CSM game, the Orks had lost their Leader and had to designate a new leader and didn't have that great of a Leadership score (6 or 7). The CSM still had their Leader and even have a +1 Leadership from their subfaction trait (so Leadership 9), but I rolled poorly rolling an 11. And you can't spend CP to re-roll Break Tests.

The reason most games end after failing a Break Test in Kill Team is that all models in the broken team are required to make a Nerve check after breaking. A Nerve check is a d6 + the number of models removed from that team - any non-Shaken models within 2" the unit making the test. If the check is less than the unit's Leadership score or a 1 is rolled it is fine. Otherwise it is Shaken meaning it can take no actions the following round. Elite teams can sometimes continue to hobble around even Broken, but often more 'horde-ish' teams completely shut down after breaking. So it is often just best to stop the game there and either play a new game or call it a day.

For the above game, it was getting late and both players were satisfied with the carnage to not fight through being Broken.

I had brought my original CSM army to show the Kill Team group. It wasn't pictured, but I also had my Helldrake just off one of the boards and had a bunch of people at the store ask when it was allowed in Kill Team. I joked that the Helldrake (called a Heckturkey in the rules) was allowed in Kill Team and it was fair because I was only person in the world allowed to field it (a super-ultra-rare unit). I was also allowed to field Abbadon in Commanders games for the same reason.

In reality, I just had my Chaos Rhinos and Land Raider be terrain on the Kill Team boards since they can't be confused for actual units (by Kill Team players anyways), and they make really good LOS blockers/elevated positions in the game. If I was just a tad more superstitious, I would keep bringing them too. I won two games and tied one which had basically doubled the number of wins I had with CSM in Kill Team even though I have played them some 3 dozen or more times.

Played a game of Red Book of the Elf King over the weekend.

Meksant Farseer defended his encampment in the ruins from an attack by Lowic Angersand and his Circle of Companions.

It seems like a lost cause for Meksant when Lowic managed to cast both Endless Fen and Pit of Ultimate Despair in the middle of the ruins, which made the whole area rough terrain and lowered the Courage of anyone nearby.

But Meksant won with a sneaky attack after Lowic emerged to butcher a unit of Meksant's Companions.

Lothlorien vs mostly foot rohan and dwarf alliance. Reconnaise mission. Looked bad when 2/3 army took their sweet time coming making battle happen close to my edge. Bows were very inefficient as well. But 1.5 handed weapons(very flexible) and wood elf spears carried the day. Attempt to break through ended witk rohan arrows though. killed leader, both broke so 3-1

Necrons vs tank heavy ig. Was worried as at was 2 dda and destroyers. Seize and 2 dead tanks from 2 dda(11% chance of one shot so about 1/100 odds of that) with no rerolls gave good start. Wraith and lychguard soaking almost entire ig firepower losing model an each helped more.

Wraiths kept tagging tanks, overlord basilisk and lychguard held armigers at bay. Dda's blew tanks slowly and infantry killed infantry and took objectives. Destroyers deep striked, took out russ and died.

T5 We wrapped up. His army near dead, 14-4 and 3 more vp coming up for me quaranteed

This past weekend I played in two tournament at Fall In! 2019. On Friday I took my Dogs of War back into the fray in three games of Warmaster Revolution.

Game one was against a Chaos army, and the game swung back and forth until my dice went could and my mercenaries were slaughtered.

Game two was against an experimental Nippon army that seemed pretty balanced. Since the army works like the Bretonnians (only Samurai count towards the break limit) I was able to cut through the peasants and run down the Samurai with my Knights and Ogres.

Game three was against High Elves (which I always dread. Better shooting, a Command 10 general who can take a lot of heavy cavalry, and some really nasty magic). However, my Pikemen were able to blend enough units before being taken out so I was able to break the opponent's army.

Yeah high elves were nasty in warmaster originally. As it is I never lost a battle with high elves and I'm hardly gaming genius...Has there been any changes to the high elves since then?

Personally I like how the warmaster ancient dealt with cavalry. Most of cavalry weren't such a hardcore unit as warmaster fantasy cavalry were. It was in medieval age crusade where knights became just as scary but paid to teeth for that ability.

No changes to High Elves, but changes in Revolution have brought some balance to their shenanigans. The biggest one is probably two rounds of combat maximum (so the initial charge and a single pursuit). This means a brigade of Silver Helms has less of a chance of drilling straight through your flanks in a single extended turn of combat. Advances into new combat are also less deadly (no charge bonus). There are some other optional rules that help as well, like the first failed order a unit or brigade gets allows them to make a half move while staying in the same formation. So it helps low command armies like Orcs that can take a lot of command units.

They're still probably the Tier S army above everyone else. Luckily we've seen less of them as people pick up more diverse armies.

Ogres are still the worst however, and I'm championing a change to let Gnoblars support Ogres. It'd do a lot to put Ogres in the bottom of Tier 2.

Softened up necron list for casual tournament vs gk. Started well when pylon lucked out and took out dreadknight hq but should have taken out venerable dread instead. T3 second grandmaster died to another lucky shot but venerable dread blew out command barge, annihilator barge and tons of guys allowing him to keep up with vp's. Ended 13-13 draw

A big apoc game over the weekend as part of our ongoing campaign. We ran modified 40k rules rather than apoc for the titans, which worked so-so. The macro rule feels way too powerful - titans were wiping each other out in a single turn of shooting. we just recycled them and carried on!

200pts Death Guard and Orks vs. Necrons and Kroot in an Attacker/Defender line breaker type mission where the Death Guard and Orks have to Move off the opposite side of the the board and the Necrons and Kroot had to kill more of than escaped. The Death Guard did alright getting most of their team off the board. The Orks on the other hand, only managed to their Boss Nob with the rest getting slaughtered. The Kroot took a beating in the process though.

Had the pleasure of trying my newly finished AT scenery out at a small convention, where I led 7-8 demo games of a Reaver and two Hounds per side over the weekend. Lots of pummeling, explosions and panicked infantry running for cover happened. One highlight for me came when I once managed to first kill a Hound from fresh to silenced in one go with my flanking Hound, repeat the same next turn against a Reaver and survive to tell the tale

Necron vs GK, round 2. GK used terrain to hide most of their army from pylon(first 2 turns it killed just 7 IG trooper...) but as they had picked that corner they had very little objectives to reach so they just had to come and try to charge into necron line. Well the units were dealt with ease. Helped by ridiculous good luck like pylon one shotting 3++ dreadknight(4++ odds are about 25%...and this was 2nd time in 2nd shot I have done this).

Hoping GK's to get some hefty buffs.

More pics from Fall In, this time from the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game tournament. I took Mordor.

First game vs Mirkwood, Lords of Battle. Was a close game with the elves just barely getting over Mordor.

Second game vs Fiefdoms, Heirloom of Ages Past. Bad Maelstrom deployment saw 2/3 of my force quickly destroyed, tried to cheese the end for a tie but got out-cheesed.

Third game vs Lothlorien, Contest of Champions. A straight up deployment mistake saw Galadriel slap Shagrat to death (something that should never, never happen). Lessons learned, but horribly demoralizing game.

Fourth game vs Khand, Hold Ground. Was pretty salty by this point and was just looking to lose as quickly as possible. Ended up winning the game as breaking (reaching 50% of original force size) potentially ends scenario, and Shagrat was the only model in the objective's control zone.
