All I really want is plastic gangers. If the rules turn out to be lack luster then I'll use on the old rule books, or use the NCE rules.

That's actually a really good point.

I do hope Juves are still in the game though. It'd be strange to remove the entire concept of having these kids that rise up through the ranks (or die horribly).

Including loads of card terrain in the box seems like a great way to kill any potential sales of the perfect-for-necromnda scenery they spent a fortune developing.
Why would it kill sales? It's 40k terrain as well.

I do wonder how they will reconcile the 2D and 3D modes.

Like, there are loads of skills that only work in 3D, not to mention grapnels and stuff.

Why would releasing terrain for free in a main box make it likely people would buy less of the relatively expensive plastic stuff?

Surely this is self evident

Plus, I bet the rulebook will be full of photos of the miniatures on Zone Mortalis and Sector Mechanicum terrain (as in fact the video is).

It'll probably improve sales - the alternative is that you get three small Sector Mechanicum structures like Shadow War Armageddon, leading to disappointing games as everyone's gangs cower in overwatch unwilling to advance across the open ground between structures, so new players give up on the game there and then.

Hey everyone. Long time lurker here but I am so excited for new Necro I have decided to come out of gaming retirement.

I did have a quick question though: Does anybody know how many models are in the boxed game?

As for the flat terrain discussion I kinda like it, it gives people options to play right from day 1, helps those with limited storage options and I see no reason why 3D terrain can't just be collected like it would for 40K/AoS. I admit I wasn't expecting a board as such, but I wasn't really expecting to see a useful amount of 3D terrain in the box set anyway. The board even looks like it could pass for a mat to put the 3D terrain on.

I'm really liking the idea of a desperate sewer table that had access points to the table above. That would really add something to the game

Exactly however many are in the pictures (20)

From the little I can make out on those reference cards, the Escher comes with a power sword, and the Goliath is S & T 4, and comes with some kind of armour. Either they're supposed to represent an already established gang, or there are stat difference between the houses and you can start out with what used to be some rare gear.

With there being unique gear for each house, I wonder if there's no way of using stuff off captured gangers, or maybe there's no way of capturing anymore.

Apples and oranges, based on the fact Necro is supposed to play differently in 2D and 3d modes.

Having a rules lite variant starter that doesn't give the impression of being an incomplete game, targeted at the board game crowd, is not completely outlandish.

It looks like 5 sets of legs and five torsos for each gang with a bunch of arms, weapons and trinkets for each side.

Wayland Games posted about the set on"Nov 8, 2016".
Expect this to be the same weekend. It was the 10th last year, and probably the 11th on Nov this year.

I imagine that Newcromunda will have skills related to both, expanding what the gang Leader can do.

Is this the first boxed game where one side is entirely female? As an adult I can now appreciate the quality of the models, but as a kid I wouldn't want to be the gang of girls. I always forced the other faction onto my little brother, but I think the years of being Orks and Luigi eventually led to him being disinterested in gaming.

Judging from the dice on the video, blast scatter is still a thing, injury rolls now have dedicated dice and third poprietary die looks like modern version of sustained fire die. This, combined with extended stats, points to ruleset having more common with 2nd ed/RT than with 8th ed 40K. Looks promising...

I wonder: there was a lot of pushback (ignored) when Raging Heroes did the kids in their 1st KS campaign, and some (not as much) when they did them again in the 2nd, and when one of the modern minis lines floated the idea of child soldiers for African they were persuaded against it (I cant remember which, maybe Spectre?) as people felt uncomfortable having kids in a wargame where they might get killed (or kill others)

so it wouldn't surprise me if Juves ended up just being stat lines rather than different minis to minimise the potential for people to complain

I was in the KS and don't remember any problems in regards to the kid models. Everyone I talked too just regarded them as cute little mascot figures. Same as the hippo, dog and cat. I doubt GW are concerned about offending anyone with juves. especially as they're usually mid to late teens anyway.

'Juves' were always sculpted as young men not children. They're supposed to be adult teens not 12 year old child soldiers. That aside, Necromunda was always a bit more adult, with drugs and stimulants for gangs to purchase, and implied slavery/prostitution, typical gang violence, etc.

Still really looking forward to this.

I played a boat load of Necro when I worked for GW and after a few campaigns we ended up moving away from the classic walkway and tower setup as it heavily promoted over watch and heavy stubbers over combat.

We moved to a flatter setup, more a shanty town, with a lot of cover and lots of initiative to charge round corners and so forth.

The flat 2D boards will give a good jumping off point and no doubt once the community gets their hands on it cool extras will come in time.

I need to get my combat panther pet back for my Escher leader.

...and you will know me by the trail of my lead...

I seem to remember a rumor back in January/February of possible terrain bundles for the end of the year. If that's the case, I predict this release will play out like this:

Week 1 Necromunda box set with full sprues of Goliaths/Eschers and tunnel fight rules.

Week 2 Terrain bundles and full terrain/campaign rules

Week 3 separate boxes for Goliath and Eschers plus a third yet-unannounced gang.

Release 1-2 gangs every month for the next year until all of the original gangs have been released.

At least this is how I'd handle the release.

2000 Khorne Bloodbound (Skullfiend Tribe- Aqshy)
1000 Tzeentch Arcanites (Pyrofane Cult - Hysh) in progress
2000 Slaves to Darkness (Ravagers)

Those are nice minis! But are they true scale? Anyways, looks like a fallen Sisters of Battle army could be made from them ladies. Luckily I based my Tyranids on Sector Mechanicus bases Do you think there will be a way to use them in Necromunda? Maybe as Genecult and will be usabable or rules for them in the book?

Two sets of great Necromunda figures with the basic new Necromunda rulebook and a sprue of interesting plastic gubbinz make this a win for me.

I've been neither here nor there over the idea of new rules; I play old Necromunda enough that this rerelease was going to be great simply for the sake of the models anyway, but I'm now quite intrigued by the stat lines in the new pictures... If this ends up closer to Rogue Trader then I'm highly likely to give it a whirl with a group and see if it sticks.

The Spire rules are likely to be in the first expansion, and that's fine by me. The recent Blood Bowl rerelease has been great, and I have both the base game, almost all the plastic teams and both Death Zones, so if Necromunda is anything like that then I'm in all the way.

If they can just hold off on Mordheim for a little while to allow my wallet to recover...

your mind

With no terrain, they just lost a sale here.
Maybe if they release an actual starter box,
rather than a stripped down Kill Team type boardgame,
I may invest the time and energy to make it work.
As it is, this game looks too one-offy, too limited, not open-world enough, just... Not what I was hoping for.

It occurs to me, one could drop the Esher and Goliath identity of these models, and mix and match them into a mixed gender gang. The aesthetic is comparable enough for them to be mixed goons.

Eh, I already have a ton of terrain, I play Necromunda already. And the existing terrain available from GW is excellent.

This is a stripped down way of getting Necromunda into as many hands as possible, new and old, and that's a good thing.

Campaign rules to follow and terrain available separately means you aren't really short of anything.

Wyches are mostly girls, so it is possible that Gangs of Commorragh takes that title with the Reaver jetbike gang.

Lets be honest, most of us that buy the more fiddly specialist games are probably 20-30 somethings that haven't progressed onto historical wargaming yet haha!
