Pre-orders for the starter boxes are up. Apparently limited in quantity. Good deals.

Also, bases and stands available! I'll be buying a ton of these

If people want really good deals, shoot me a PM. I love Conquest, but some of their deals can be had notably cheaper. :-p

I really love those black and white factions pieces.

Is the content on the faction objectives sets contained in the Companion?

From this https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pARJ4yuJzpP4rH4R2cWibNaD4YK7GbhM/view it looks like there will be different start playing boxes, with different minis, released in waves on holidays. Also, if there is a dual kit in a box then there will be cards for both options, and each character will have a separate infantry stand.

So the not Orcs are getting a dino cavalry, and it looks like the beasts will be properly feathered (as they should):

That's a very cool concept and if executed well will attract a lot of fans of both those Fantasy tropes.

I'm really hoping they're a fun army, with the rumored mechanical difference in not requiring the activation deck.

Dinosaurs and 'Aztec' theme are just going to be icing on top of the cake.

I wonder if that is a hero or one base of cavalry?

That's a crazy rumor. Is there anything else to it? Seems like a crazy exception.

Basically it is about being able to chose whatever unit they want to activate, unlike like other factions that need to think about how to sort their cards. It is supposed to simulate the not Orcs having an exceptional hearing, being able to hear the commands even during the greatest noise of battle. Although the PBW guys said that it may be changed yet, so nothing set in stone.

I think eliminating the deck for them altogether would skew them towards OP.

That said, I could probably get behind a deck that was split into light/medium/heavy cards. Would still allow for a lot of freedom in activation without throwing out the deck mechanic altogether.

Not necessarily. There could be drawbacks, such has having crap stats or no ranged attacks.

They still have to roll reserves and hold their available cards in their hand but they can currently pick and choose which units to activate without creating a "stack"

Leo was very clear that although they wanted very much to create this as something totally unique to the Wa'drun, if it became game breaking through the playtest, they weren't so proud/stubborn as to not scrap it.

ATM. it remains in playtest

Heh...So Conquest is a Live Service game now ?

Joke aside, does that apply to named characters only or is it some sort of campaign mode for your own armies ?

There are prominent figures that exist in the world who's fates you will be deciding with the campaign system but you're generals, your characters, are your own and they have hinted that particularly noteworthy generals with noteworthy achievements will have their names carved into the world lore

I have known a few campaigns like that in the past, from both small and big companies. It never ended exactly satisfying, either because the influence by players wasn't as great as they thought it would be or it was and the result was...well...let's say I don't especially want to know the epic saga of Sir Sourhead the Cookie Killer, even if he was played by a great tournament player.

But I guess that's a good way to maintain the hype amongst your community, as long as they believe their actions do matter.

Hm, good point. Many people believe they can write better than the fluff authors for a given game/setting/story, few can back it up. I still think it is cool of them though, and if they manage it right things could go well.

From the video teaser, it seems the characters will be those presented in the "Portrait" series. So most likely a continuation of the Nepenthe and Ardent stories.
Really doubt they'd let people just write up "official" fluff with their characters. At best a background mention or whatever.

I remember them mentioning the Living World thing is basically opening up different set of outcomes for concrete events, like the Spire Drone Cult having a few options depending on the results, all of which plausible and set. So I'm not sure this is exactly like the "classic worldwide wargaming campaign" that shakes up forever the lore and gets retconned if not to the liking of the company.

I like the idea of plausible, setting appropriate pre-determined options that players are then able to direct the setting towards than any alternative.

Looks like OTT (previously BoW) will be doing a feature. Check out the Facebook page for the teaser

Maybe a Conquest week if they stick to known formats.

Will be good to supersede the outdated Let's Plays

What do you reckon it'll be?
