Question: Is it possible to build an equivalent points value force to the MEdge box set forces with the Broken Sprues? How many does one need?

The Broken are a horde army, so their units are really cheap, points-wise. The starter set forces come in at around about 120 points. For an equivalent points value in just the 4 Broken units available now, you can do it with 11 sets (66 models), which would set you back around US$150. Not bad for a horde force.

There will be other units released for them in the nearish future as well (and I will likely be working up a few 'unnoficial' units along the way as I start playing with conversions, for those interested in such things ) that will help soak up some points when it is time to expand from there

Excellent stuff - I wonder if fluff-wise one can justify the Broken 'liberating' some Epirian mechs to give some bulk to their army list?

The second story in the Emergence book is about a character named Mama Bot, a former Epirian who could commandeer mechs.

Yeah, I've been tinkering with an idea for a renegade bot handler unit, who would control a bot mob comprised of Spider and/or scarecrow frames, with slightly reduced stats and Broken weapons replacing the Epirian armament.

The story is called "Little Bots" and was written by Rob Ziegler, one of the well established SF authors (incl. Alastair Reynolds!) we signed up to write in the Maelstrom's Edge universe. It's a fantastic tale, one of my favourites, and showcases the kinds of crossovers that can happen in the chaos of the Edge.

I should also mention that the story is found in the Tales from the Edge: Escalation collection, not the Emergence volume.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Any way I could induce you gents to take some pics next to Skitarii/GSC/etc size models?

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks
-----
"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

My apologies. I agree that it was a great story, even if I can't remember the E-word of the title.

No problem! The titles are pretty similar--just wanted to make sure that other readers didn't order Emergence then get annoyed when they couldn't find the story you mentioned. More news on the fiction front coming soon btw!

Yes, north star. These specific models are not being released through distribution just yet though.

Wow, those are fantastic models. I love the motley look of the Broken. Haven't purchased any of your miniatures before, but I am definitely buying a 3 pack of these guys! And, as a paying customer, I will say that the slight discount that you offer when purchasing multiple sets is appreciated!

Active armies, still collecting and painting First and greatest love - Orks, Orks, and more Orks largest pile of shame, so many tanks unassembled most complete and painted beautiful models, couldn't resist the swarm will consume all
Armies in disrepair: nothing new since 5th edition oh how I want to revive, but mostly old fantasy demons and some glorious Soul Grinders in need of love

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Have to say this is a fantastic looking set!

As others have said this is going to have so much use, beyond Medge even.

Personally think they would be ideal for Rogue Star, and making up some of the random and eclectic mix of characters you can play in that game.

Would be interesting to make some Scarecrows and paint them as individuals, kind of like Chappie:

Do you have plans to make these available through any distributors? I'd like to get some and I can definitely see myself adding them into an order from Wayland Games or somewhere like that but I can't justify the shipping cost to get them direct from you.

What's the shipping to Aus, out of curiosity? To the US it's only $3 (even though these are shipping from the UK I believe?) which I thought was crazy good, but everything seems more expensive to ship down under

How are these in size compared to GW models? I'd like to see them compared to cultists or GSC

Yeah, $15 to oz. I usually buy stuff from the UK from companies that do free international shipping over a certain amount.

Not built or painted anything in over a year and I've got nobody to play with here, but I'm super excited to have bought three sprues of these guys - and I finally picked up the expansion sprue too. Looking forward to receiving them!
