The legacy PDF won't have rules for the new unique weapons and such, so they'll have to release rules with each gang. Maybe it'll be in-box and online, and then a compilation book once in a while.

One suspects that Gang War 2/3 will each have a pair of houses plus additional material. E.G. House Delaque vs House Cawdor (the sneaky spies and their telepathic abominations vs the religious nut jobs that always hide their faces) plus various hirelings and some new scenarios. Or Orlock vs. Van Saar and some vehicles/hive exterior rules.

Here's also hoping that gaining skills is no longer a random roll of the die. I quite like that a lot of the randomness was removed with 8th edition with warlord traits and psychic powers, so would be nice if progression for this was likewise more controlled.

Gaining skills is not random - you pay to get a skill - but the skill generation is still a D6 roll.

So, like... you pay X XP to get a roll on the Agility table? That's cool enough.

Sounds interesting.
Much as I enjoyed the rolling for advancement, it was universally frustrating to have a Heavy become a Ninja in combat, but useless at doing their job.
One other question, and I honestly don't know if anyone will know for sure....getting Skills outside your usual tree? Such as Techno. Used to be a 'rare result' could get you some access to skill sets otherwise locked off.
I always went Techno, because Armourers and Inventors were ace (once invented a One In A Million Hand Flamer. Lost it the very next battle, and my friend's Juve remains to this day running about the Underhive dispensing his limitless ammo with abandon)

That was more a fault of Bulging Biceps (which is still in the game!) being on the Muscle Chart, which was almost all HTH based, except for that skill.

Dunno. Didn't see that much. I hope you can. Getting wild skills was always a nice little bit of flavour. Jimmy the Juve just invented a powerfist? The leader of my Goliaths will love that!!!

We had a house rule with Inventor. Once you invented something it ceased being rare, but you still had to roll the random D6's (if the item had them) to represent the vagaries of finding parts.
I had a fair few Heavies tooled up for melee. Usually because they ended up with a WS increase. At that point, rolling on the Muscle table became more useful for them.
Of course, the more you rolled on a given chart, the greater the chance you'd get the skill you wanted, since rolling a skill you already had meant you could choose from the chart.

No, they'll be like Blood Bowl, also they have a very long period between pre-order - release (11-24) to make sure the sold out situation did not happen. But that seem very unlikely this time imo.

There were/are definitely some big two-handed weapons in the Goliath gang, which IIRC the November WD said you could give to Champions or Specialists - though I've not got the WD with me (at work) to check.
Whether other, less melee focused gangs will have similar options, I don't know, but I certainly wouldn't think it out of the question that there will be ways to build a Melee Specialist with some nastier weapons available to them than your average ganger.
I imagine that while the Escher and Goliath Champions are probably focussed on melee and short-range weaponry, Delaque and van Saar would have more heavy support options (shiper rifles and plasma weaponry, for example), Cawdor have lots of flamers and Orlock go in for heavy stubbers and heavy bolters.

I am really intrigued as to what they are going to do with the Orlocks, they were always a bit middle of the road (still loved 'em) in terms of gear, skills and appearance. I wonder if they will go the mining weapon route to give them some flair, like the GSC mining laser.
I am also very excited to see what has happened with the Ratskins. I imagine there will be a move away from the Native American imagery but again I hope they don't move too far.

Unless they're going with a split along the lines of having Champions as Melee-centric, with Specialists doing the ranged heavy weapons?
I don't know, but I think there will be options for all gangs to have melee gangers. It makes sense for some to be less inclined that way, but why not let a Delaque specialist get really good at knife fighting (Riddick, anyone?), or a Cawdor specialist have access to an Eviscerator?
I'm hoping they'll have the option, is all I'm saying.
And I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Orlocks and Ratskins too!

Lets just hope they don't go the Bethesda route and make sneak attacks ridiculously OP - I can't imagine having two gangs trying to out-ninja each other would be that entertaining.
Although, saying that...

The Escher got a bit of that "feral native" vibe in their new design, and I bet they're going to double down on theme for the Ratskins, can't wait to see it. Maybe they'll pull from other cultures as well and give them some unique lore to make them a bit more interesting.

Must admit this seems to be a really impressive boxed set and general release.

I'd like to see more of the Archeotech influence in the ratskins, even if it's just having bits of old circuit board on their clothing (like the kids in Mad Max 3).
