Nice! I look forward to seeing your take on these guys. They weren't terribly popular minis around here, and I only recently came into some myself to use for revisiting some very old conversions.

If these are anything like as good as your Farseer jet bike then I think we'll be in for a treat. Looking forward to it.

Thank you guys.

So while I should be painting the Shining Spears instead I have been working on a lone metal Dire Avenger Exarch.

Speaking of metal Exarchs. Did anyone ever take on of the original metal Dire Avengers and do a head swap with the metal heads from the first rollout of plastic Guardian bodies?

I can't recall ever seeing a conversion like that, Cap'n. The Spears being pre-empted by this guy is ok. There are few sculpts in the range more iconic. Can't wait to see how he turns out.

I assume the main reason for that would be to rescale a bit because the classic dire avengers are that bit smaller but much of the character of that classic loo is in the helms.

While I wouldn't say its stricktly heresy to cut a Jes Goodwin original mini's head off, I'd say it would have to be worth it. And I also like the old shuriken catapults so that would be a loss. Unless you could find plastic versions of those from back in the day too. Maybe from a plastic guardian spru.

Also, fully understand the distraction with that exarch, one of the greatest of all time Eldar classics!

Thanks for the suggestions.

Maybe a back banner for one with a Shuriken Catapult to mark out a bare bones Exarch.

Great work on the exarch, love all the contrasting colors, very good choices and nice work on the white on his helmet.

So I have made some progress on one Shining Spear so far, I do not think I will get all three done by the end of the month, so I am focusing on one as a pilot.

It is a challenge to build up white and give it some depth.

They're looking spiffy, Cap. Love the green red gems on the wings. Pretty funny.

Great job Captain, the white looks really nice and smooth. The banners are a neat touch too, how’s your get them so wavy?

This is a great model. The white is clean and crisp. Very rarely have I ever seen the spears being used, and they always needed better attention than they received.

That DA exarch is a great paintjob on a brilliant model. Amazed by your patience on the shining spear too with the flag and white!

Amazing stuff as always, CB. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks theCrowe, you have to have proper running lights.

Thanks gobert, I used the round handle of a small file.

Thank you youwashock, Theophony, finnan, Maharg, Tyranid Horde, Viterbi, and tzurk

Second two finished, it took a little longer than the first one, every time l looked at the built-up white on the nose cones and grabbed my blue I kept thinking "I will not fear the stripes." Although each stroke my pulse was saying "damn I am afraid of the stripes".

Those shining spears look superb, cutting my heartstrings with nostalgia. Oh how I wish for my Eldar army of old. Full marks for the pennants, they make all the difference to the models.

You had every right to fear the blue stripes, especially since most mistakes happen at 90% done

I never saw such a conversion, no.

That model is one of my all-time favourites. I painted one back in the early nineties, when I was about 13! He was one of my best paint jobs at the time. I want to paint another soon.

The colours on yours work really well, especially the yellow and black plume with the white helmet.
