Falcon turned out fantastically, Cap'n. Still an awesome model after all these years.

Thank you muette, gobert, Ezki, and youwashock.

So I was finished the Eldar for about 48 hours before my gaming group dropped off this:

There are 25 old metal Harlequins of Rogue Trader vintage...several are missing weapons and others entire arms. However it means this painting log will keep running.

The Falcon is so impressive, you absolutely nailed that. The Alaitoc blue is such a cool scheme. Looking forward to seeing how you go with these Harlequins.

As someone who has quite recently painted some of these exact minis, let me first console you. I know, it’s been hard, but you’re doing a great job. (Nobody sees the unmatched diamond patterns on the undersides of arms or tucked in awkward places) And we know they must look even more spiffy in real life.

Have you any plans for the damaged ones? A band of Eldar Space Pirates. Or you could do like I did and replace some jet bike riders for a squad of (too intimidating to paint) Harlequin jet bikes.

Thanks theCrowe.
I have already started repairing the damaged ones, in fact the one on the right of the two first ones completed has a plastic sword on his left hand replacing the missing metal weapon.

Finished the next three old metal Harlequins.

48hrs is a long time to be finished with a project! Good on your mates for dropping the Harlequins on you . The first few are looking awesome, the checker pattern always looked a challenge, but one that you’re rising to!

I really like this unit. It is unusual to see a troupe of harlequins with such a uniform appearance.

Thanks Josh,

I just looked for a scheme that was repeatable and reduced the number of diamonds I had to paint. So it is the current GW standard on the current plastic models that are twice the size of these guys/gals.

Although part of it is doubtless the background as an original Imperial Guard player...having models in uniforms is likely scarred into my painting. I wanted to play Eldar from the start, but another gamer in our group was so adamant that he would play the Eldar or not play the game at all. So I acquiesced and built/painted the last force left...the Imperial Guard. Ironically that player in our group never painted more than one or two figures and then quit insisting he didn't want to play something that had to be painted to use.

While I have the WD where these metal Harlequins were introduced and there are a few examples of schemes...they are really random and make for a riot of colors. So I will stick with this scheme for now. I do have twenty more to repair and paint.

Cheers,

CB

They're really turning out cool, Cap'n. I love the original Harlequins and this paint scheme looks great on them.

This set of Harlequins is how we all imagined we'd paint them when the first boxed set of metals came out, but never had the skill. A very nice walk down memory lane with this lot, Cap'n!

Amazing troupe all together Cap! I quite like how they’re using the same colours, gives them a cohesive look

Thank you youwashock, Meer_Cat, Cap'n Facebeard, and gobert
.
So as I finished the three additional Harlequins earlier than expected, I decided to work on a project I have been thinking about since I started this repainting of my Eldar army. On of the first units I stripped and repainted were the Rangers...and I will admit I rushed them because I was starting to think I was crazy to redo an entire metal army from Rogue Trader and Second Edition. I was never really happy with the burnt umber cloaks with...so I have decided to update them. I have mottled lots of Eldar vehicles and walkers...so why not the scouts.

First squad of five.

Obviously the Alaitoc blue is still there, but now there are more colors to break up the shapes.

Wow. Great progress on all these old school eldar. I third the opinion that the camo pattern on the cloaks is great. It's complex without being too busy. It really makes the models pop. Great job, Captain!
