Subject: Warhammer 40,000 Conquest, that'll be why they were advertising for part work staff then.
The 28 days notice thing is very clearly mentioned on the website/ relevant printed material several times. Personally I am paying by direct debit so if anything goes wrong they can go whistle.

I was thinking along similar lines, but that link provided by Foxfyre has reports from several people who did so only to have continuing deliveries with demands for payment. I suspect being hauled into a small claims court is too much hassle for some, including me.

Looking at the website it's mentioned once on How It Works at the very bottom of the page with an asterisk (though there's nothing on that page that has an asterisk to tie it to).
It is not mentioned on the Home page and though it is mentioned in the FAQ it is likely to only be seen when someone attempts to cancel at which point you are tied to a contract for a full 28 days from the time of cancellation (not cancel anytime). This means you are still liable for the next £33 they take.
So the 28 days notice is mentioned twice on the whole website, once under the link for the FAQs and once in the FAQs.
The 28 days notice isn't even a major issue with the 14 day cooling off period they're required to give, but the issues I've had even getting them to even cancel my account means I would rather let everyone know of my experience.
Five days after I tried to cancel for the first time could nudge someone into the next 28 day period and therefore nets Hachette a further £33. This is a dirty business practice plain and simple.

To be fair some of those reviews are trivial and contain people that do not know the difference between "loose" and "lose". I assume that reading terms and conditions and FAQs is beyond them.
"POOR EXCUSE OF A COMPANY .AFTER SIGNING UP FOR A SUBSCRIPTION WEEKS LATER TOLD IT WAS A TRIAL RUN !!!!!.
BEST AVOIDED"
"Ordered something a long time ago and have not received it yet. I want my money back but don't even know how to contact them"
That said entering into anything like this with an attitude of caveat emptor is very sensible. Your money, your choice.

I know about the 28 days thing, and I've not even subscribed. I don't know why anyone would enter a contract without reading the cancellation terms.
Having said that - the reluctance to sort out within the 14 days is gakky, and they deserve to be called out on it - and reported to the appropriate body (I don't know who that would be?)
I have had several past subscriptions with Hachette and had no problems cancelling, just sent them an e-mail and they cancelled with immediate effect. Never call the call centre, always send an e-mail (response time is usually less than 24 hours).
If any shipments get lost or damaged in the post then make sure you e-mail as well rather than call.

But I read all those reviews and as LTMW said some of those people are really something else..
You get bad reviews on everything, and I’d say half are always stupid people.
Once read a review on Amazon complaining about amazon itself, not the product at all - ridiculous!

On a Facebook post today GW stated that the board size for the upgraded subscription is "17 by "22 inches (approximately). So four of those boards makes a board bigger than Moon Base Klaisus.

Tried to call Hachette today... doesn't overly matter why..
Sweet mother of gork their phone system is terrible.
1st attempt, sounded like they were playing hold music through water, when they (eventually) answered at first the voice was so quiet I could hardly hear it, it was then seriously warbled, transferred to another department... which hung up instantly.
2nd attempt, rang, started the hold music, then hung up, music slightly clearer this time slightly
3rd attempt, marginally clearer, deteriorating to #1 in under a minute, answered, couldn't make out a word they were saying, due to the quality of the phone link.
sounds like they have a seriously poor VOIP connection

I think the call center is in South Africa, so you can add intercontinental lag and an unfamiliar (to most) accent to the problem of poor VOIP.

If I ever manage to get a line good enough to hear the accent I have a listen
never ceases to amaze how hard some companies make it to give them money

Looks like issue 2 was pushed back a week going by Forbidden Planet listings (and on basis they haven't sent mine out yet) to give issue 1 more time in the shops.

i have had my own experiences with this subscription over the last week and done a lot of legwork sand research on it, I considered the customer services issues i uncovered important enough not to bury in a general thread and so opened up a primer on Warhammer 4000 Conquest in 40K Discussions section here:
n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Still waiting on my first delivery as a result of the Trial Sub, they use Whistl fir shipping which is delivered final mile by the Post Office. I don't think they use Whistl's tracked services and if they do the consignment tracking number on the label.
Whistl tracked is only tracked until it is handed over to RM anyhow so isn't that useful.
Any here from the UK seen the Warhammer 40,000 Conquest adverts on TV over the past couple of days? They play on C4 during the 6PM Simpsons break... Gotta say, GW are targeting the right market. Never thought I'd ever see the day where Games Workshop are being advertised on prime time television.

That is Hachette not GW. It has long been a staple of partwork magazine companies to advertise on TV very heavily. Each subscription is a long term customer relationship lasting for the length of the subscription set. So the actual sales are concentrated at one point in time, at launch. Those who do not pick up issue 1 will not get 2, 3, 4, etc. So Hachette needs TV advertising for a window of about three weeks to get the subscriptions rolling then nobody will hear anything again.
GW is different it is low intensity and the sales period is persistent and ongoing. The business model cannot support Tv advertising the last time we have seen 'GW' TV advertisiing wasn't GW then either, it was for Space Crusade.
GW of course benefits heavily form Hachettes intensive efforts and are doing their best to cooperate at a high level. Its not just an IP deal, GW is providing stock at special discount to Hachette to fulfil the loss leader early issues that get people into subscriptions. From what I am now learning the massive spurt of issue 1 spam sales was not at Hachettes cost, they break even by getting the extra paints and minis from GW for pence. Hachette in turn has advertised on TV and shipped the loss leader at mad discount which leads directly into hobby intake. Its a win-win for both companies.,

I'm not sure about a prime time audience
because I was watching ITV4 the other day, say about noon, and in between episodes of Minder and The Sweeney, I saw this Warhammer advert.
God knows what the target audience was at that time.
Which was a surprise. If any non-Brit dakka member is wondering what Minder and The Sweeney are, then Wikipedia is your friend

Around lunch time, just as the summer holidays are ending and the kids are all sat doing their summer homework. Gee...it's a mind boggler
