I heard the release date is the 24th, but I am not sure if that is 100% correct.

The place i'm pre-ordering from has been told the 24th by their GW rep

although I suspect they won't get all that the ask for immediately based on what's happened with previous popular releases

I'm definitely buying two forgebanes, so I'll be interested to see what they do with potential variant Armigers. I'll build two and leave two on sprue and I strongly suspect some future conversion work will be in order once I know what I'm working with, if anything.

I'm going for two boxes as well. The plan is to assemble two Armigers sans shoulder and leg plates, then paint up the frame(with carapace blank). Then wait for the codex and full kit release to drop before doing anything else. Worst case scenario is I end up with a bunch of cogboy mini knights.

Well, price seems excellent.

What has me more concerned is pts cost for the Armiger.

I look at a Heldrake for 185 and there's no way an Armiger gets what it does for slightly more....

Hopefully the demand for Arminers makes the Necron parts cheap and easy to scoop up on the aftermarket.

Heldrake is twice the speed, +1S, Fly, gets the 5++ in CC, and regenerates.

it's a little surprising that we haven't. Unless when it goes on pre-order they'll release more info. the faction focus was cool and giving us the weapon details helped but finding out actual stats is better. I'm wondering how many wounds + save is gonna be.

If you are referring to the Knight, it has 12 wounds and a 3+ save, as mentioned in the article.

The points cost will decide everything. At 150 points the Armiger is great. At 250 points its trash. The closer to 150 it gets the more these Forgebane sets will fly off the shelves.

so it's a tank that takes up a Lord of War slot ? (is it definitely LOW?)

to be honest it's the Armigers that are putting me off this set. I want the Necrons and the AdMech, but AdMach affiliates knights aren't really a thing I want to get into...

From the previously mentioned Warhammer Community article:

While Armigers may be “small” by the standard of Imperial Knights, they’re still comparable in power to the mightiest war machines used by other armies, and thus, you’ll find them in the Lord of War slot. Unlike other Lords of War, you’ll be able to fit up to three Armigers in a single slot, making filling out a Super-heavy Detachment – and netting three Command Points – easy! We’d recommend pairing two with a fully fledged Imperial Knight for a balanced and powerful collection of units.

Why do so many people have trouble believing these are LoW models? LoW is more than just Super Heavies and GMCs.

Apart from preventing the Necrons from doing… who knows what… with it, you mean? Well – the Adeptus Mechanicus has a plan. If they can gather enough blackstone (which happens to be located on many worlds already settled by these mysterious engineers – alongside awakening Necron tombs), they’re intending to build a network of new pylons along the length of the Great Rift, then switching them on – basically, like stitching a wound closed, except with a lot more chanting and potentially dooming the universe to annihilation by thirsting gods.

So...basically what the necron plan was before the wardcon? Goddammit GW, stop stealing stuff from Necrons and giving it to the imperium

Good bit of fluff there and a nice way of kicking things off for say, a future campaign or scenario book. I could see GW do a world wide campaign for 40k where the outcome may decide just how much of the great rift will be repaired, or at the very least contained enough.

No idea, when the first reveal even spelt it out that they're LOW... I guess it's people reading the thread not the articles and assuming internet hearsay.

Probably because they're not that big, and look less bulky than a Redemptor Dreadnought.

thats not the case at all, a careful reading of the fluff suggests that rather the Necrons had this plan in place, and Abbaddon spent the last ten thousand years breaking the old pylon network. The Imperium is basicly trying to create a new network.

Basicly this is the IoM scrambling to fix something the necrons had built but abbaddon had broke.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Ok, that's fair then. As long as they don't completely rewrite the 3rd ed fluff its fine.

Little bit late to complain about the Necron 3rd edition fluff being completely re-written innit?

Those are two legendary commanders around which much of the game's fluff has been written.

In other words, bad comparisons.

Is this even worth arguing over? GW have spelt out their Battlefield Role. Seems pointless to debate it.

Man GW must really be cracking down on whoever has been doing leaks. I figured we'd have already seen it's full profile, points, and special rules by now.

Gaz also isn't a LOW in 8th edition.

in 8th edition pretty much all Lords of war are eaither super heavies, or Primarchs. However we DO have at least one example of an outlier in the form of the Terminius Ultra Land Raider

I'm gagging to know the armiger points cost, that's going to be a deciding factor in my buying this box.

Approx armies
9000pts AdMech (Main army)
7000pts Black Templars (original army)
3500pts Death Guard (lazy side project)
2000pts Imperial Knights (extension of AdMech)
2000pts Harlequins (fun side project)
