That death world terrain is hot flippin' garbage, and the killzone looks sparse, it's just a bunch of loose obscuring terrain as far as the rules go, and it's boring as a table. Better to wait and see what else they're coming out with, you can make a better jungle table yourself with $30 and a Michaels. Heck, it'd probably take $60 worth of foam and plastic plants to distract you and the other player from how hideous that death world terrain is if you did buy it.

I don't understand the great deal of it. The board itself looks like leaves and there is no higher terrain. It is pretty much just scatter terrain for the same price as the mechanicus one which had quite a bit of value to it and the ability to make some variable terrain.

Because it's a $130 set sold as an $80 set with the addition of a double-sided Killzone board and fun rules, and if you buy from online retailers it'll be 15% to 30% cheaper.

Anyone calling the Death World terrain stuff "scatter terrain" has no personal experience with it - it's fething huge, and super easy to convert. When I get my Killzone Deathworld Forest, it'll be my third set, and will be converted with another set of Munitorum Containers to make a sweet overgrown outpost.

As far as adding it to other terrain I could see the options there, but saying it is a great deal because it isn't $130 like before I dunno. I wouldn't have paid $130 for it and getting it for 80 or 68 if you go thru somewhere that offers a discount is better but honestly comparing that with the sector mechanicus one i just see a lot more value in the sector mechanicus.

Meh. I'll use it as a change of pace to "camp the high" ground tactics and force fire and move instead. It will feel strange at first, but I'm guess GW are trying to channel the Vietnam war close range jungle shootouts.

Anyway, and for proper line of sight blocking you could add large rocks or a small ruin etc.

None of the kill zones have been sufficiently populated with just what's in the box, in my opinion. This one is no different.

I'm kinda warming up to the Deathworld Killzone package. I would be bringing the Killzone to my FLGS anyhow, where we have plenty of multi level LOS blocking terrain available, but no one has seen the Death world stuff yet and that's easy enough to transport.

There are at least six more Killzones coming beyond the one and possibly two that are in the Rogue Trader set. Very interested to see what they will be.

Six more? Are there even enough (sensible) plastic terrains?

Wall of Martyrs
Aegis Defence Line
Zone Mortalis
Ork Scrapyard
Ryza Pattern Ruins
...?

Well, I'm sure they could use Killzones as a way to release new scenery sets.

Actually, I'm hoping they do just that for releasing long-neglected stuff, like aspect warriors...

I've still yet to see an exciting or strategic game of Kill Team. Is there something to this I'm missing?

Nope. But to be honest I think it will have to be fairly significant, so as much as I'd like it now I think it's going to need a bit of time.

Well after we need it, and well before it's finished.

The Nova Kill team tournament is this weekend. Me thinks they will get quite a bit of feedback from that and then get cracking on the document itself.

Does that mean the game has a lot of rule issues?

I haven’t found anything glaring in my games. I have enjoyed them all. Some things could be made more explicit, but that’s about it.

Yeah, the fast rolling rules are in the wrong place and they definitely need to be very explicit (as though explaining to a five year old) about the “multiple hits-one injury” mechanism and but it’s been pretty tightly written so far. There’s definitely some verbiage they can take back into 9e 40k (because that’s about when they’ll get around to it) to clear up assault weapons and grenades etc too.

I'm not sure how many of them are ambiguities or "rules issues" in the normal sense, but it has a lot of head scratcher moments or rules that I think are just bad. The biggest one is that the fundamental activation system is IMO wrong and should be replaced with "one token for each model in your team, put both teams into a bag and draw", but I don't think there's much chance of them doing that.

Hey! I like that terrain a lot mango.

It makes for a fun open table, I've played a couple of CC v CC teams against each other. Had a blast!

But, speaking of new terrain. I'd love to see a bunker kit. See the attached images below for a game my friend and I played on Sunday. It was amazingly fun having to try and navigate tight corridors and we crafted our own scenario with a few new rules which really made the mission feel bleak and treacherous.

One player was the attacker, and the other was the bunker defender. There was only one entrance/exit and a central command room that the attacker is trying to breach, perhaps to stop the launch of a weapon, or to capture a VIP or some other objective. The Attacker deploys at the door, and the defender deployed wherever he wishes in the bunker complex, at least 14 inches from the door. The defender also deploys his/her killteam using tokens, so that only he/she knows what models will appear once my unit gets within 12 inches. We rolled on a pre -built table before hand;

1-2: The Bunker is fully powered, and fully intact. (No advantage or disadvantage)
3: The Bunker has no power and is fully intact. (-1 to all shooting due to extreme darkness)
4-5: The Bunker is heavily damaged with no power (dangerous terrain)
6: The bunker is not damaged, but has no power and is booby-trapped.
7-9: The bunker is on lockdown. (To open doors required a model to give up shooting and to make a roll to override the door control.
10: The bunker has a security system ( Defender chooses 2 areas of the bunker, and deploys a "heavy bolter" or "missile" turret token there. These "turrets" may only target units within 8 inches, and always hit on 6s.)

We rolled a 3 on our table, so the rule was as said above. And it was hella fun. I really, really wish there were official kits for something like this with better rules!

That looks like a lot of fun Togusa! I hope we might get something similar with the Wall of Martyrs/Defence line terrain, which I’m expecting will be in the next killzone.

Could also be fun, but I would hope *fingers crossed* for an actual kit, similar to the Forgeworld space ship tiles for Mortalis.

There are just so many options for a craft your own mission/table/zone for this game now. I really do feel as though this is where competitive 40K belongs, not where it has been with massive 2K armies.

The terrian from the boxed set was new. No reason new terrian wont be used in some releases.

My friends and I are going to try a 2 X 2 on a 5 X 5 table, and the point of the game is to push the rhino (payload) to the other side of the map, navigating ruins, barricades and traps!

There is just so much you can do with this game!

Wait, aren't there 8 factions left that haven't gotten a faction starter yet? So if they stick with the pattern of releasing 2 faction starters with a new killzone, that means 4 more kill zone boxes. Not sure what they could contain, though.
