Not sure how humanoid they'll be, but definitely lizards/dragons will be there.

I did find this guy.

Ya, there are lots of Wyrms, undead, fey and such. I don't have the first thing you posted in any of my books, obviously there's a lot not translated to English yet.

It just came up in a google image search for 'Trudvang Monsters', so it might be from something else Paul Bonner did.

Can't argue with Paul Bonner Yaktaurs!

Now I gotta go wrestle that artbook of his off the shelf and flip through it.

I jest about the need for reptiles... kinda. Skeksi troll is interesting.

I too wouldn't mind a mini- heavy game, as the living board sounds kind of like what 7th Continent and Tainted Grail are already attempting to do.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Did the report break it down by board games versus miniature wargames again?

Last time they did that, it didn’t look good for miniature wargames continuing with them.

I’m guessing this impressive turnaround is due mostly to their board games and kickstarter revenues?

Wasn't Wrath of Kings the only miniatures game they really had at last reporting? It would've been no wonder it looked bleak if that was the case. At least locally it would seem Song of Ice and Fire is moving briskly.

Ditto. It stays out of stock at my FLGS due to constant interest. I'm glad to see it too as the wife and I are crazy about it.

Dark Age too - never forget Dark Age!

I won't forget Dark Age! Remember Samaria!

I even came across the updated Brood sculpts online. Half tempted to get them just because.

Also isn't there a Shovel Knight board game coming too? Or is that probably after Trudvang?

Have recently gotten into ASOIAF over here in the UK and Asmodee's distribution is really creating issues with getting products at retail. Any idea how long their deal with CMON is?

until further notice I should think, it's only just started

(and since their pre-Asmodee distribution for Wrath of Kings and Dark Age was rubbish too i'd look at them as the problem more than the distributor)

A few of those are from Jorgi's Bestiary, the others are in the player's guide and the GM guide. Some, such as the Och Drakar Demoner image, are mirrored and split across double page spreads

TRACKING THE ENEMY
May 17, 2019
Eschewing the comforts of modern society, the Free Folk live beyond the edge of civilization. This means that most of them are still living a nomadic hunter/gatherer lifestyle. While southerners might look down on this way of life, when the Free Folk march to war, it means that their skills in stalking and snaring prey in the forests translate well to the battlefield. A man can be brought low by a well-placed trap just like any wild game. This month, Free Folk players will be able to add units of Trappers to their forces.

Free Folk Trappers pack a pretty hefty punch for only costing four points to field. They have both ranged and melee attacks, an Order, as well as not giving up victory points when destroyed. With all of those things going for them, their individual stats might not seem very impressive, but it’s about having a whole package in a single unit. Their Wilding Bows are short range but hit about half the time. The unit is slightly better at ranged attacks than melee, so players will do well to keep them from getting engaged with the enemy. Another reason to keep them back is their relatively poor Defensive save of 5+, as well as their Morale value of 8+. This is not a unit that will be able to handle protracted engagements with the enemy.

However, there is a way to make sure the enemy doesn’t get to them, and that’s liberal use of their Order, Hidden Traps. When issued, an unengaged enemy unit that’s moving within Long Range suffers D3 Wounds and their Charges become Disorderly on a roll of 1-2. Being able to deal wounds directly to an enemy, with no need to hit and no Defensive save, makes this inexpensive unit really punch above its weight class. Even mounted knights with heavy barding will want to be wary when Free Folk Trappers are around. As so many enemy abilities hinge on successful charges, the Free Folk Trappers can easily help protect not just themselves, but the main elements of the Free Folk force from enemy aggression.

The Free Folk Trappers are a perfect supporting, flanking unit. Commanders will want to keep them away from the enemy as much as possible, harrying from the sidelines. They are not a unit that will be running up the middle of the board, spearheading a charge or what an army’s defensive line will form around, but they will do their best work from the wings. They work well with hit and fade tactics, keeping away from the enemy, but just close enough for their bows and Order to take hold. Keeping them protected will be key. While may never have the highest Wounds-dealt count, they can certainly be a thorn in the opposing commander’s side for a game.

The Free Folk Trappers will be available May 23rd.

Those Trappers are excellent, but its weird seeing a release for a unit literally every Free Folk player owns two of, already. :-p Especially when like ten other units are still trapped in preorder hell.

Maybe that's when "SOON" will become reality in terms of the Final Fates of Dark Age and Wrath of Kings?

They recently said that they can no longer offer replacement parts for Dark Age models, so I mean, that, combined with everything else, is already telling us what we need to know, but maybe, just maybe CMON will let someone else buy the IP and continue the game?

(Please?)

Well we know Miniature Market bought all the dark age stock that CMoN had so unless they also bought the rights to the game (which MM did do with All along the Martian front) I don't think there's a second life for the game.

Then why aren't they selling it?

Seriously I've been itching to hunt down certain models and it just plain isn't possible! Nobody has them!

Yes, they posted here in dakka.

Miniature Market purchased all of the Wrath of Kings and Dark Age miniature products from CMON. We are currently working to inventory all of the Dark Age and should have it for sale shortly on our website.

Yeah and MM did the same with Wrath of Kings. We will certainly see the sad news "soon" as well...

Guess CMON will keep ruining Kickstarter with their practices (exclusives, pre-order, saturation of market...), and do nothing for long term development of their games. It's all about short term gains now...a shame, really.

I think they decided to back and support ASOIAF instead of their other lines because of demand and more of a head to head against GW.

Afaik, The majority of sales for a product -- or at least boardgames -- is its initial release.

CMON *is* supporting long-term development, but for Song of Ice and Fire. Other retails companies have dropped their support of long-term game lines, and I don't think a company can maintain such support for more than a few lines.

It's the gamer's fault for this, or at least boardgamer's. Search on "boardgames cult of the new".

I know there is a lot of positive talk about Dark Age around here, but although I tried I could never get into the aesthetic. It was a ceunchy sci-fi skirmish game centered around close combat, instead of guns and ranged attacks. It just never made sense to me.

Well lets also be honest. Neither Dark Age or WoK probably sells enough to justify keep making them. Board games are a much easier sell then minis because you don't have to do much support for them -- usually an expansion or two if even that. While miniature games need monthly releases, tournament support, new books and so on. It's a really crowded market that's harder to be in then with Boargames (which is also crowded but has a much wider audience).

A company will discontinue a line/game for one reason only - it wasn't selling enough.
I don't know how or why board gamers buying up new board games should, or would affect the sales of a miniatures game.
The two markets share some crossover, but I wouldn't expect sales of Age of Sigmar to be affected by GW making stand alone, one and done board games. If anything, it would draw more customers into the miniatures games they do sell. It becomes a segue for board gamers to get into their more lucrative product.

So, rather than place the blame of a lack of sales on board gamers, how about instead shift that to how products are marketed. I would bet that if there was a Dark Age board game released on KS that segued into the miniature game, that those players wanting more of the IP would end up getting it through the miniature game. It would have likely shot sales of the miniatures game up significantly.
This is what GW does and it works marvelously.

Don't blame other gamer niches for poor marketing and sales.
