Well, here goes the new Scheme for my tanks. Bit more wear and tear aswell as dirt wash, but that is it.

Will do a second row of any camo colour to break it up more and make it look more dotted.

The space in between the "stripes" beeing the standard grey of the vehicle is inspired by italian WW2 camo paint which had a similar dotted scheme allways sourrounded by the baseline brownish yellow cover.

Thanks, i appreciate it, allbeit i have to add, the pictures look better then reality, probably because the fluoriscending colour i use is for the bare eye nigh unseeable without a lightsource, still quite happy how it turned out.

Next thing will be a propper field fortification though, maybee i'll make a step by step guide on how i put it together.

So , today something a bit diffrent.
I decided to start that Terrain tutorial, because this is the first time i do that in bigger.

Normally i am more a hand times Pi planner, this time i do have a plan , well somewhat.

This will be a entrenchment in a smaller hill, with a bunker.

Material: 4 styropor plates, gauzes, wood aka ice sticks and headless matchsticks, some wire, and some plastified moss.




Layout, basically, before you start glueing , cutting etc, make a plan for what is where, in this case i decided on a classic trenchline in a hill with a bunker strongpoint.
Due to the seize of the terrain heavy infantry will be used as the baseline for the size of the line in order to allow manouvre within the trenches.

So , step two, use a marker and your little size giver.

But why are you starting with the bunker first?

Simple. See this, this is gauze, i use it for 2 things. Nr 1 It is malleable and extremely formable. Nr 2 it gives the whole thing stability. however since it is another skin so to speak for all parts and since i want to be able to put it in and Out of it's case in the terrain plates i need to first atleast gauze the bunker itself.


Makes sense.


So, as you can see, i will use the edge of the former icecream box for stability and the lower part of the fortification.
Isn't that a tad low? and maybee to high for propper cover? You know i am afraid off Autocannons!

Yes , but the same applies as above, the gauze will lower the size of the firing slit, further there will be use of wood as initially stated.

So, after you have cut in the necessary battle damage, use the gauze, somewhat liberally.

Now so long this thing is drying, (about a day or two) we can go search for additional pieces to give our little bunker here some more mmph, in regards to detail, step one Barbed wire..

there's some tutorials out there i prefer the oldschool finger derstroying masochistic approach.



Aka cut wire, fold in half, cut smaller wire pieces, use a tool to strap it to one of the sides of the wire you folded rinse and repeat. It takes long, it hurts, but overall still gives you one of the best looking rough and used barbed wires... thankfully i don't have to make more




should look about like this... If you intend to get a more uniform look i'd reccomend making a lot more and twirling it only using the middle bits.

Very cool NotOnline, I have attempted to make some buildings in the past and have not had much luck. Barbed wire looks quite realistic and sounds a bit painful if handled. ;-)

what do you mean with attempted

Na the barbed wire is mostly time consuming don't makehasty movements and you'll be fine.

First plan out everything:




Then start to cut out the trench:
Step by step:





until you are finished.



i like this. No more autocannons!

take a sharp knife and start chipping away until you got something like this:




Grab sandpaper, very fine one. Start filing the edge.


Proceed to make the Bob test.

firstly: if you are unhappy with the height of the position off the bunker. use some wood to put it higher up.



like so.

Next, search for big chunks that broke out, this method lends itself to work somewhat sloppily and fast, that is not necessarly a bad thing, like here.


use some wood to plank over.

Proceed to plan a system and repeat it, like this.




then we get this, sometimes it is good to break the system up, use one side plank instead of two , etc.

Another method for making barbed wire is using two gauges of wire...the thicker one is pulled straight and then wrap the thinner one around it with some space between each thin wire wrap. When you have finished that, wrap the thick wire around a pencil or larger cylinder if you want large loops. You can layer those on top of each other and make this:


It is less painful that cutting out the smaller pieces. You only have to worry about the ends.

My two cents, hope it might help prevent modelling injuries in the future.

Atm i am in a hotspot for covid so i'd have to get myself some wire later when the situation has calmed down.
Also as a khornate, there must be blood on it (joke is joke) and i prefer the barbed wire to look like well barbed, nothing against this method, i did employ it myself some time ago but for smaller bits i like this more atm. That said for industrial buildings with the more moderate barbed wire employed there i'd use your suggestion
