Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

The plastic Commissar is a junk mini with terrible proportions.

This is a significant improvement.

OMG this is amazing. Now if only GW would do this level of quality regularly, not just as a one-time deal.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Does it say anywhere if she'll be widely available or is it only in GW stores?

I’ve heard it’ll be available to order from retailers, but I don’t know how official that is.

Warhammer 40k Facebook has confirmed that this is not a limited time miniature, everyone will be able to get it, and it will be available for online ordering.

Fanastic model. Too bad that image of her rules is too blurry to make out the stats properly. Looks like Leadership level 1, which is... ok I guess. 20 points means you can have a LOT of other models in a 200 point commander game alongside her.

Thanks for the update! Any chance that the price will be less ridiculous than most one small sprue plastic character kits of the past 5 years?

Nice mini. It doesn't feel too crazy and has a good, simple, style. Looking forward to seeing more.

Got to say there is this feeling I am getting from GW lately that I haven't felt since I joined the hobby, excited.

I'm back!

Will 100% buy this mini, potentially assemble it, and never paint it.

Assuming it doesn't wind up as some hard-to-buy exclusive only available for a few hours at the closest GWS to me, a brisk 3 hour drive.

Chances are the model will be the same price as Eisenhorn: €25,- and available after the event itself, just like Gregor.

Hmm... could probably field her as a Colonel-Commissar, and just use the Company Commander stat-line and say she's a "Counts-As" model. As long as you don't have any actual Commissars in your army it should be acceptable as there's no way to confuse it for anything but an HQ.

Seems unlikely, particularly given that it's a commemorative piece.

The best you can probably hope for price-wise is that you won't have to buy $400 worth of other miniatures during a solar eclipse on the third sunday of a month for the chance to buy it...

Probably... But given that Gw came out with a normally proportioned female mini in practical armor, there is obviously a cold front moving into hell so I'm going for broke (figuratively not literally as I wouldn't buy it otherwise) with my fingers crossed for a reasonable price too.

FWIW, it's a Bolt Pistol not a Bolter.

It's funny, I showed the model to my mother, who goes by "Raine," and she thought it was a male. Granted she hasn't gotten a good look at the other models GW puts out but I thought that it was funny. The lack of hair was specifically what she didn't get. Didn't have the heart to tell her it was probably in a bun under her hat or perhaps even shaved to the skin. Silly moms...

Thanks,

Quite, the short stories have made me want more and lo, we are getting more!

It's got a good cast of characters, some good world building where the main character learns more about the regiment she's with and it looks like this is all set during a campaign against a single, massive chaos cult of sorts.

Fire and Thunder: https://www.blacklibrary.com/new-titles/warhammer-40000/advent-2018-3-fire-and-thunder-eshort.html

Standard follow up question - how tied to the "new setting" are they? IE, can I pretty much read them as a temporally-agnostic 40K story, or is there a lot of 41K/Primaris/Rift/Rowboat stuff in there?

As a firm supporter of boob plate in general, and where it already exists as part of a faction's aesthetic in particular, I very much like the model and will buy one if it's not too ludicrously priced. It's almost as if only one segment of opinion from that tiresome "debate" are actually interested in imposing said opinion on everybody, and most of us are happy with all options being available...

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

I don't know, if no one actually said it was a female character, I'm not sure how you'd tell. Not saying that's good or bad, just that there's nothing immediately obvious to me one way or another.

In isolation, if you've never seen a GW miniature (or any other range that deals in 'heroic' scale), sure, it could pass for a slightly androgynous male, or a teenager Commissar cosplay.

Put it up against male miniatures from the same range, and the slighter build and more feminine facial features will be much more apparent, though.

Ultimately, though, does it matter if it's not 'obviously' female?
