Seems unlikely, simply because the word is plural.

Yet the Guard have "Hydras", "Basilisks", "Wyverns", "Hellhounds" and "Leman Russ Tanks", note the plurality, because they can be taken in groups of up to three.

So it *could* be some sort of tank, even being plural.

Mortifactors are almost certainly the shooting build penitent engine - if you look at the 'Bestiary' entry (Warriors of the Faith bit rather than the Army list) you'll see that there is no "Penitent Engine" but instead "Engines of Penitence" and no Mortifactor entry.
Would make sense that we've seen the combined art too.

That's a good catch- so Seraphim/Zephyrim and Penitent/Mortifactors are the most likely scenarios.

I hadn't even noticed "Angelic hosts" instead of the Seraphim

Woo! Crusaders are still in. Not that there was much chance of losing them, but when you've all by scratch built 12 of them, it good to know they ain't going away.

... no Uriah? so despite new models, we lose some anyway. no palatines either...

okay, so what are these new models then? got osme guesses already, but i guess im still hoping for something with range.

battle sanctum.. im guessing somekinda unique terrain. who knows.

Army: none currently.

Very excited for this! I managed to pre-order my box, so now I'm looking very much forward to browsing through this sweet codex in two weeks time.

The Battle Sanctum could also be a new transport, considering it isn't mentioned in the bestiary specifically (if I saw it right). Hopefully the pulpit becomes an option for regular Canonnesses, or that Junith can be taken for any order. Makes little sense to make a named character for only one out of 6 orders, but then again, GW often makes little sense...

Can't say I'll miss Jacobus. His model was fugly as hell. I've never even been tempted to use him. Shame that the Geminae and Repentia Mistress are still independent units. I never liked the way that plays out on the tabletop. Hopefully they found a bit more elegant ways of making the Geminae useful, because in the beta codex they were utter trash, sadly. All in all though, I'm very pleased with what I'm seeing so far!

For the Sanctum to be a transport, it would have to be a flyer or a Lord of War. It's not the right place in the army listings.

If it were, I think we'd have seen that rather than the pulpit as the big reveal for new models. As something promised that's new, but not as exciting for hype purposes, the last section of the army list makes sense for a building.

I think we've seen a picture of it in the battle against the Tau. More a shrine that likely boosts their various auras.

I can't imagine with how GW has operated for some time now that they wouldn't be plastic kits. If they're in the codex they'll have kits, and GW is more inclined to simply remove units from books if they don't have plastic kits than include them with resin or metal only options.

You can never beat your first time. The second generation is shinier, stronger, faster and superior in every regard save one, and it's an unfair criticism to level, but it simply can't be as original. - Andy Chambers, on the evolution of Games Workshop games

That... isn't true. I mean, its... glaringly not true, as its easy to make a list of units from Necrons, Tyranids, Craftworld, Dark Eldar and etc that each still have multiple units that aren't plastic. One of the most popular craftworlds (Biel Tan) is straight up non-functional without the resin units. Daemon codex had non-plastic FA units until 11 months ago, long after the codex went to print.
There are still non-plastic models/units in Chaos Marines and even Codex Space Marines!
[off the top of my head: Warpsmith and Mutilators, and Techmarine, servitors and Thunderfire Cannon respectively]

They didn't go LCTB, they're 95% still gonna be metal.

For a full army reboot it doesn't make any sense they would include legacy models from 2 decades ago. They clearly didn't include frateris militia, do you expect we'll see the same missionaries, preachers, etc. that accompanied them as unit entries?

Didn't realize they weren't LCTB, I thought the whole current range was when they moved the metal sisters over.

Arcoflagellants are in the preorder box.
There is at least one Crusader, Death Cultist, and Preacher model already in plastic thanks to Blackstone fortress, so they already have the digital assets to work with.
Missionary is the most immediate need, and one with a few weapon options would work for sisters and IG.

No surprise there. I wasn't going to trust an independent retailer on this, given the history of GW not fulfilling promised allotments with limited boxes, so I'd been refreshing periodically since 9.50am. (Also snagged The First Wall, so there was extra incentive to just go with GW themselves)

Oh, and I never did look... $350. So yeah, a $250 box with a $100 Codex. 'Bout right.

Their presence on a combined unit sprue sadly doesn't mean much these days. There are no separate kits for Venom Crawlers, Greater Possessed, Suppressors and plastic Obliterators. They only existed in the Shadow something (Spear?) box, and now in Start Collectings.

It's also probably a start collecting box with maybe an extra unit in it - it's 25 non-vehicle models to the Thousand son's 21 non-vehicle models.
Arcos and penitent engine would be the one I'd put money on being dropped from a SC box unless it's more effort to not make the sprues (and it looks the same number and size of sprues as the new Chaos and Vanguard sets).

If you've got the army already and really want the codex over Christmas, it's probably a decent buy. You want a small force to start playing with against other people's starter armies over Christmas - still a decent buy.

January tournament and need the book? Go on, or get it off ebay.

Buying outside the UK and just want the models? I'd say wait and pick them up without the fancy book in a few months time.

The only model in the box with a separate sprue is the Canoness, and there'd be no HQ without her. Might be that the resulting SC box will be on a new upper price level for the range.

The sprues don't really work for that kind of division.
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/11/11/sisters-of-battle-army-set-unboxinggw-homepage-post-1/

There are sisters bits (and the seraphim leader's sword) on the half the first sprue with the penitent engine, and arco-bits with other battle sisters on half of the other sprue.

I really hope that the generic missionary has gear options that match Uriah so that the model may continue to serve.

Yeah, I had a look over some of the sprues on the NZ site. It's identical amount of plastic frames as the Chaos start collecting. 1 Command, 2 Duplicate troops and 1 HQ small frame.

That's entirely possible. Uriah gets written out of 40K and in its place Missionaries gain access to "Shotguns" and "Holy Icons".

That's perfectly fine by me. They should do that with most special characters.

It'll be like the artwork. A shrine with attendants/pilgrims, very much like the old Bretonnian one.

edit: damn, that just made something spark in my brain. I regret selling my old bretonnians, great models, and I loved the Green Knight. I think I may have found the theme I need for my Sisters. maybe Celestine will be my "Green Knight", make her ethereal.

Really cool models. don't like the fact that the box is ETB, which means a lot of theses models probably won't ever get a proper kit

Thats exactly what I'd hope it would be. Hopefully the model is as cool as the old Bret one.

I don't think they're ETB. They're certainly set poses/equipment with no options (other than heads), but not ETB.

And given the amount of minis, it seems like these could see the light of day as a Start Collecting! box.
