In Warhammer 40.000 , you are expected to field 40.000 points...

I have over 3000pts of Eldar, over 1000pts of Marines, CSM and Necrons respectively. Easily a few hundred models 98% painted, because I get models to paint them as playing is no longer the driving force for my collection.

I've got around 15,000 points of Dark Elves, and around 6,000 points in Skaven. It's worth noting both include nearly the same number of models...

Choosing Skaven for my first army shows a certain level of insanity; getting most of it painted before starting any other army is proof of it.

I probably have 5 or 6k in AM which I had hoped to use for Armageddon but it is hard for me to find anyone interested in investing the time

I generally update my point totals once a year, and change my sig. Painted. If it’s just primed or in box, it can wait to be counted until it’s finished.

And at the rate I paint, I have a few years of stock to go though before running out. That’s if I don’t buy anything new (which is unlikely) or digging deep into forgotten piles.

Last Autumn when I came back to the UK, I realized I had over 100 unfinished minis, combined between the stuff I had left at my parents house, and the stuff I had aquired out in Asia. I have-
For 40k 1500 points of Ravenwing, a Baneblade and roughly 1500 points of Deathwing. This is after selling my entire demi-company of marines and 20 more Terminators+Belial.
For LotR I have 1000 points of Grey Company and 750 of Army of the Dead, plus a little scattering of Fiefdoms that are being worked on.
For Blood Bowl I have a full Skaven roster including all Forge World Skaven players.
For Arena Rex I have the entire Helleniki faction minus Telesto (this is only 5 models, but still)
For Malifaux, I am about 4-5 models off owning the entire Outcasts faction plus extras from other factions. Enough to comfortably run 9 different lists at once and still have a lot spare.
For Batman, I own roughly 7000 points of stuff split across Brave and the Bold, League of Assassins, Bane, Grodd and generic villains. A standard game is 350 points...
For Bolt Action, 1000 points of British Airborne
For The Other Side, I'm 3 units off owning the entire King's Empire faction
Some bits and bobs for Warmachine that I haven't sold off, and a couple things for Monsterpocalypse as well

All in all not the sprawling collections others have, but for some things quite an excessive amount (and still growing)

No panic.

I'm sitting around 6500 CSM (Painted), and 5500 Eldar (Painted).

I have around 50 painted Old West minis, 35 painted Gladiator figures, and 150+ Fantasy dungeon crawl miniatures - all painted.

Unpainted? About two dozen minis. I do not collect stuff if it's not being painted within a week or two of owning it. The only time I hold a kit is if I'm painting for another system/game, or I've changed my mind and might sell it off. A huge part of this is...actually avoiding said panic. Collecting a lot, or building is too wasteful/intimidating to bother with.

Don't know how many points, but I have 3 full companies of marines, with quite a substantial motor pool (at least enough to mechanize the entire first company and still have some support vehicles). The first two companies are painted, the third ... I'm thinking of selling.

I'm also sitting on a fully painted Tau army of around 5K points, a 90% painted IG army of about 5K and a 95% painted Tyranid army that's about 5K points.

I've been a bit more careful with my Necron, Admech and GSC armies - staying around 1K points and having everything painted.

I've been spending the better part of 2 years assembling and painting - maybe have played around 5-6 games. Hopefully, with just about everything assembled and painted now, I may one day get more actual gaming in.

I’m just finishing my 1000th GW mini - which means I’ve painted 2/3rds of the minis I own....

I've got 5500 points of Eldar, of which I'd say just over half is painted if I'm being generous. Haven't added on the Exodite force I've started up either...

I have 1500 points of Tyranids, because that's what it is realistically based on the amount of points reductions there have been.

I have 300ish points of Yu Jing infinity which I've never had the chance to play since getting them years ago.

I have 1250 points of Black Templars and then 750 points of Orks, all painted

I don't know how many points I have these days, as things are cheaper than they once were, and the structure of units has changed (Guard don't even have platoons any more... feth they're not even called 'Guard' anymore... Jesus).

I know I have 24 regular Infantry Squads of Guardsmen. Probably as many heavy weapon squads. 30 Russes. 12 Chimeras. 20 Sentinels. 10 Super Heavies. A few Companies of Marines/Terminators/Scouts. I don't know how many Tyranids I have. I had 30k points of Chaos back in the day.

I don't feel so bad now. Only 1200 40k figures (abt 27,000 points across several factions) and 250 historical (mainly FIW)

On the crudest of crude calculations - pick a number between 10,000 and 20,000 figures. I have a couple of days off later in the week so I might do a more accurate guess just for the fun of it.

Talking of fun, why would you panic?

I keep things in a spreadsheet. 2579 minis across about 13 game systems. Using it to get the unpainted portion under control and help get rid of things.

Same.1200 odd minis, across the following categories:

'Games workshop games' comprising my 40k projects - Death Guard and Raptors, necromunda, blackstone fortress, bloodbowl, lord of the rings(gondor and Rohan, which I also use as stand-ins for historicals), shadespire/underworld.
'Privateer press games' comprising khador, circle, and mercs/retribution odds and ends.
'Miscellaneous' comprising infinity (pan-o, yu-jing, ariadna), hasslefree minis (3rd party company).

And probably a bunch of Other stuff.

I organise it my model name/type, and categories of owned, built and painterly.

Currently at 92% painted. Hundred odd models to go!

Generally I have a rule whereby I don't have more than twenty things hanging around unbuilt/unpainted, to avoid my previous situation where I had approx. 18k (total) of Blood Angels, Tyranids, Imperial Guard Dark Angels, CSM and Grey Knights and maybe about 2K of them were painted, poorly, while the rest just sat basically NIB in a trunk being grey.

At least a couple of thousand. I need to do a count at some point and spreadsheet the results.

I... I don't know. I've tried counting. Over 2500 Historicals in Napoleonics alone, not to mention WW2, HYW, ancients... over a thousand guardsmen, a full Raven Guard Battle Company, a large Death Guard warband (3-4k points), 5-6k points of Bretonnians, 3k Empire,16 Blood Bowl Teams, hundreds of LOTR figures...

That's just the painted stuff. I'm afraid to take stock of the unpainted stuff.

According to Battlescribe I have 449PL of Imperium. A significant portion of that is Salamanders, with My Metalica Maniple bringing up the rear. if you add in Ynarri I have over 500pl of "good guys".

80PL of my burgeoning Flawless Host warband is all I have of the "bad guys"

When Sororitas drop the Imperial numbers will grow substantially.

I have hundreds and hundreds of painted miniatures. And about a hundred unpainted. And then a couple of hundred unassembled.

Counting is hard. I’ve got a lot of old forgotten stuff tucked away places. Points are easy for active armies, as I maintain a battlescribe file. I probably have ~ 300 Ultramarines, ~ 75 Eldar. I don’t even want to try to count the old WHFB and other odds and ends that I don’t use as often. But I would bet good money on the fact that I have over 1,000 painted models in my apartment.

Counting the pile of shame is rough. A lot of it is old stuff, often from dead systems, some gifts from people exiting the hobby. Shoebox full of lead D&D minis, big box of Clan Wars, etc. And then stuff like the minis from box sets where I only wanted one half (or just the rules). My “active” pile of shame is a lot smaller, but still probably 50-75 minis to build, with another ~ 50 guys in the primed and ready to paint pile.


This is a shot from a bit over two years ago when I needed to pack everything up and move. This is the stuff that DIDN’T fit into my foam/boxes for transport (7 KRU worth, plus 2 other cases, assorted boxes, egg cartons, etc). Took a number of trips to get it all out.

On an unrelated note anyone know a good divorce lawyer.

Out of interest, how often do these get placed onto the table? My historical armies are huge (Napoleonics alone is masses and masses of stuff)..........but it all sees the table in play.

Space Marines: @70 infantry, 4 vehicles painted (3 unpainted)
Dark Eldar: @60 infantry, 5 vehicles painted, 3 unpainted
Dwarfs: 100 infantry, 1 vehicle
Warmaster: 40 stands of empire painted, 20 stands of vampire counts painted, 15 stands of dwarfs painted (about 7 units of VC left, probably 15 units of dwarfs left to do)
I've got 2 Frostgrave war bands painted up, about 21 figs

The unpainted pile...lets not talk about it.
