Maybe pitch that to GW or another company, the shadow training paint, it could be a gold mine

Don Qui Hotep wrote:Hooray for Discworld! Those minis are so characterful (even if the Two-Flower one hasn't aged very well). They match the personality of each of the characters in a really masterful way. Sam Vimes is one of the best protagonists in the series, in my opinion, and his sculpt has really done him justice. That Ridcully mini is also really cool. If you check out their website, the way that they've sculpted existential dread onto Rincewind's face is just perfect.

Happy about the Discworld excitement, but alas they are a little way off, I need some sci-fi right now, but will return to them in due time. And you are right Don Qui Hotep, the Two-Flower sculpt is really bad, although that is one of the few characters where I don't like how Kidby drew him. Rincewind on the other hand is spot on and may also be a contender for apprentice or perhaps thug with his half-brick in a sock. Will definitely get Lady Sybil and once he's back in stock at my favorite online store Greebo, the two minis fit purrfectly into the warband.

In other news, my SM Heroes Series 2 display arrived and I was lucky and got the captain and the ancient in the box (at least I think it's lucky, front says captain is 1/20 und ancient 1/30). And it feels good to have sisters back on the tables. Not satisfied with the eyes I painted back at the start of the year and my try the method Duncan employs on the Obi-Wan mini with just wyldwood and a little Druchi Violet under the eyes.

Last but not least a very quick and dirty paintjob because those damn kids always jump back to the start or too early to the finish carrot, so I painted in the stones that were also the same green as the grassy hill.

I don't know where Power Elephant got his seated Conan, or what the scale is, but if you're still looking for something you may want to PM him, or something.
He has a gallery image of one that is super cool looking and may fill out the throne pretty solidly.

Fingers crossed that the painted road stops the kids cheating on their game! When they’re done it looks like it might make a good display piece with all of those base holes!

Excellent luck on the Series 2 Heroes. The Captain, Ancient and only 1 duplicate! I missed the Captain in my Series 1 box :’( hopefully they jump your painting queue like mine will be!

Thanks Theo! The carrot tower is a game I play with my children. And seeing as they always loose their way, I had to put a contrasting paint on it

I wouldn't call it cheating just overexcitement in the heat of the game Yeah, got real lucky with my box, the ancient actually was the last model I opened. And I don't know if at my age I should've been that excited, when I opened all those boxes, felt like being a kid again Hope you get the captain from other sources! Had hoped that the Barnes & Noble Space Marine Adventures expansion would also come to Germany like the core game, but no luck.

Finished the two sisters this week and started on heavy flamer sister and other sister superior is also waiting for paint. And slowly progressing with the priests, still two weeks left for the comp.

And got a game in with a friend, last week we were able to finish three WarCry games in the same time it took us to finish this one game of Kill Team Commanders, because he had never played Necrons before and I had forgotten all the differences with my space marine bolters Sniper did what he always did, look good and achieve nothing. I don't know, why I bring him anymore Won the game because a heroic 30k terminator charged the Overlord and killed him. Friend thought the Overlord also had Reanimation Protocol. He was wrong

Good to see the Discworld minis on the previous page, they are some fun little sculpts. Some are a bit off in my mind but that is always going to be an issue when bringing the written word to life in physical form when your mind has already decided what a character looks like. Agreed on the Tiffany Aching as well, great mini.

Excellent luck with the Terminator box, the Ancient and Captain are the best sculpts in the set to me.

Looks like a cool game even if it took a while! The battlemat seems nice and thematic with a mix of Imperial and Necron in the design. The sisters look cool, but I’m really interested to see where you take the priests.

Yeah, on the whole Kidby's designs are great, but some aren't what I pictured in my mind either. The Josh Kirby ones were really bad, if those were the basis for the miniatures, we'd be in big trouble

It would've probably been better, if we had our rules memorized, but it is fascinating how much faster WarCry plays.

Battlemat was actually the WarCry one, was to lazy to put it away after the session the weekend before Priests are actually progressing, did the cloth, but now have to redo a lot of the leather and smaller details, that I got with the layer paint.

We always love to see some purple robes! They fit right into the 41st millennium. I don't think I've seen quite that hue before, was that using Contrast? I like it a lot.

Thanks Theo! Sadly as someone who wasn't very interested the first time around (late 90s/early 2000s) and dug a little into it the last 3-4 years, I don't get the reference, but I'm assuming there were men of the cloth spreading the good word of the Four-Armed-Emperor.

Don Qui Hotep wrote:We always love to see some purple robes! They fit right into the 41st millennium. I don't think I've seen quite that hue before, was that using Contrast? I like it a lot.

Thanks Don Qui Hotep! The robes are actually one of the few things not painted with contrast, the purple is just Screamer Pink, than wash of Nuln Oil and than a kind of drybrush with Pink Horror via a Medium Layer Brush.

And I got the motivation and time for a little push and finished both models. Had a minor shock after sealing them, because Stormshield decided it wanted to be a glossy finish today and not be its usual matte self. Luckily Lahmian Medium sorted that out. Tomorrow evening will be glamour shots.

They are coming along great.

In the old rules the Tyranids had, onewas called Jones is acting strangely. Basically one figure in the opposing army had been implanted like a facehugger from the Aliens movies and was a “plant” by the Tyranids. I forget if he attacked the rest of the squad or just caused some other disruption, but it was what I remembered .

Either way they look spiffy .

Always gotta keep an eye on ol' Jones...

It was pretty bad. The trooper in question would explode using a fairly large template, equivalent to the Barbed Strangler at the time, I believe.

Priests are looking good. Fit right in with the Sisters.

That sounds like fun rules until you get to the template I love it, but my priests are fiercely loyal and the one test model for my GSC Kill Team has not the same colors, it's another blue... and pink... I may talk to a commissar asap

Slow progress, gonna finish those 5 intercessors tomorrow, they are nice and easy and than to tackle the next seven sisters. Have some free days until Wednesday and there should be some hobby time next to family time, to get the gals done.

And the squad is done, nothing fancy, but always good to have troop choices. Was pretty excited when I saw the new SM units yesterday, I fear that box will be bought on release. See the newcrons are what piqued my interest in the new box, though I was more hoping for Chaos Space Marines. The return of Chainswords is always welcome though! With the new site showing sisters, I was half thinking it might be a 3 army box. I’m digging the mixed colours on my he intercessors’ shoulder pads.
