I'm not sure if that's interesting or irritating.

On the one hand, I wanted more of the special weapon cultists for a long time.

On the other hand, those sculpts aren't great and there are much better cultist alternatives now.

I don't really think I care any more. Had they done this before Blackstone I probably would have ordered a bunch.

The Dark Angels no character models were forgettable and mediocre, and the chaos stuff has been replaced.

Not really seeing the point of this.

If it's cheap enough I'll grab a copy (like Island of Blood / Spire of Dawn) but I doubt that.

God dang it.
I spent 30$ just to buy the Helbrute last month and Christmas wiped me out.
Also, are these the first plastic Made to Order models (the Island of blood wasn't teased as a MtO.) This changes everything, now I'm less likely to spend money on Ebay models.

I'd love a set of the Chosen and cultists, but the old sprues are kind of bad. The Helbrute was one of the worst snapfit models I've ever assembled and Kranon's sword arm never worked for me. But even so...

What's funny is that it comes with Balthasar, who was recently murdered in fluff and replaced by Lazarus, rumored to be the DA primaris we get in psychic awakening.

This is an odd one. The DA tacticals or bikers have not aged well, very static and clunky miniatures. The Deathwing are pretty good, and the characters are so so.

Chaos wise the Chosen are now smaller than the more modern CSM miniatures available in the start collecting and "multi part". set. The obvious benefit are those cultist sculpts that are not available at retail (champ, flamer, autocannon, a couple of close combat sculpts) and the Helbrute and Lord have held up quite well.

All told I am interested to see the price of the set, just a shame that the way the sprues are cut means that they have to offer it as a set rather than individual units.

People are posting size comparison photos in the FB thread, and they don't seem too bad - they're obviously shorter than the new Death Guard but look OK next to the new CSM.

Ok, yeah. If they're doing this a full set, it basically has no value at all to me.

Maybe I'm overestimating their ability with CAD or even a pair of clippers, but if the MTO is all or nothing, I'll definitely take nothing rather than a box of cruft and a few sculpts I care about.

It was the boxed set for two editions, and the main value of it was they didn't get around to the various chaos things (or DA characters) individually for quite a while. But that window is gone.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

It's interesting that they'd bring this back. Personally I'd rather they make actual Chosen and Cultist kits, but hey, if you wanted more Champs/Flamers/Stubbers for your cultists, now's your chance.

... I am assuming you need to buy it all or nothing... and all I kind of want and not that badly at all are cultists and MAYBE the chosen. Maybe. And even if they sold the individual units I doubt I would be paying less than 40 USD for the cultists... of all the things they could bring back to MtO XD

The sprues are mixed, so it will have to be all or nothing.

What GW probably should have done is something like replace Know No Fear with Dark Vengeance so that you're not forced to double up on models with Dark Imperium.
And then there would still be the whole range of Cultists in standard production...

Could they not have thrown in the limited edition Chaplain as well? That would have seen me order one.

Meh, I’ve picked the 4-5 miniatures I wanted from the more reasonable box splitters, so I guess I’ll pass. Chalk me up as another one who would have been all over this a year ago.

Wouldn't that negate the whole "limited edition" aspect?

That's not stopped them before - the Eldar Bonesinger for example.

Does it come with original blast markers and flamer template as well?

I really don't see any point in this. They could've better made another Diaznettes made to order. Or Tomb Kings, or Bretonnians...

Limited edition doesn't mean anything beyond, 'until we decide to make it again.'

Which is why space hulk was re-released 4 or 5 times.

At the very least, I imagine ebay will be flooded with individual batches of these models, at a more reasonable price than the current selection

The only ones that will be cheap will be stuff most people don't want anyway. This is made to order so anyone splitting it out has to pay full retail to begin with.
