My Gods I love those Skitari - they are almost getting a "wild west" feel to them with the style they are going for on the mounts with duel gun slingers and such. Really loving them.
The new pointy aelves look fantastic too and the hollow armour model is very impressive for its design and hollow effect. Really neat to see GW pushing the angle on what they can achieve with model designs.
Kind of sad to not see more Eldar, but Skitari getting a very full and diverse roster is not something I can be sad about.
Again pointy elves get some really outstanding mounted cavalry too and the over all designs look ilke you'll be able to bring back good few of the old style models without much issue if you want too.
Lizardmen dont' look like they are getting a huge amount new, but they are getting a brand new Tome and that IS something very big for them. It's also big for AoS as it will mark the point at which the whole game is, since it started, running on the same proper rules system of 2.0. A great time when you can pick any army and get started without worries or confusion!
Overall great LVO reveals even if nothing is actually for any of the armies I "currently want/do collect".

It's not exactly as complex as the old Warhammer Quest was, but you can start simple and make it complex. You can play it out of the box with each player controlling an Explorer (and the enemies being controlled by D20 roll) or you can play with a DM, and there's optional rules for settlement events and equipment.
Ah, cool, cheers. Think that might be my reward for when I finish painting Space Hulk.

The horse riders make me think someone at the studio was listening to Muse's Knights of Cydonia. That tune even starts with some spaghetti-western-esque sounds. Meanwhile, the dog rider variant made me think of Apokoliptian dog cavalry:
Not in terms of being a visual match, but conceptually. And that might be the inspiration. After all, what is Apokolips if not a forge world?
With Desaad an inspiration for tech-priests??

I also think eldar should be taller (obviously no bulk though) and then sisters, guard, tau, mechanicus and maybe necrons should be the smaller races. Orks should be big lumbering murder machines, even the basic ones, eldar should match them for height but be much slighter as you'd expect of an elf and marines (even primaris) should look like the creations they are, made to combat these super dangerous aliens.
Eh orks are describe in fluff bit taller than humans but due to hunched pose still stand equal height. S

I would warn the original poster that Blackstone fortress is not a casual type of boardgame. I think it would be hard for non-gamer types or people who don't already enjoy RPGs to get into it. Requires a bit of patience and learning for initiates.

The 40k army is very Skitarii, not very Mechanicus. There is a distinct lack of lobotomized servitors going around, that's for sure! And not that many mechdendrites either.

AdMech cav seems odd. They're dogs aren't they?
The second build is less dog-like, but even the one that is supposed to be a hound has the body and leg anatomy of a horse - big bulky torso, and an extra point of articulation above the "hooves". To me, they look like mechanical horses with a somewhat dog-like head. Most importantly, they just look like they are riding them, while a more centaurical design would have been better I think, or indeed something so twisted I wouldn't have come up with it and there is no easy way to describe it. Just properly weird AdMech.

In the beast arises Nobs are twice the size of space marines... So yeah, would love Ork boyz as big as primaris, Nobs towering over them and Warbosses just a bit larger again. Ghazghkull is in a league of his own . Wonder how big the new model will be.
Just in general more size differences between Orks, Nobs, Warbosses and Ghazghkull would be amazing and very fluffy.

So I just want to vent about the Q&A; the GW guys were extremely patient and did their best but dam was I getting irked with people asking questions. Probably 2/3s were people asking "when is X coming" which the GW staff obviously can't answer. You'd think people would catch the hint but nope, by the end even the GW guys were getting frustrated. They obviously wanted to interact with the community but spending the majority of the time saying "we can't tell you" in 50 different ways obstructed that.

I like the bonkers approach to it, it's like the philosophy that you could never make a machine the replicates a human/animal and have it move as efficiently and gracefully as the animal, or be economical energy wise if you could do that, and the AdMech are just saying 'challenge accepted'.

I dunno, I think they still hold up pretty well, particularly given the cross-compatibility with all the other kits. Wouldn't have any massive objections, but what I'd hate to see is something that looks incongruous if you mix the two – something that adds to the variety of existing stuff, rather than hitting a hard reset button, would be hugely preferable imo.
But yeah, maybe Ghaz will bump up interest in Orks. I just do not understand the enthusiasm for Named/Special Characters though, rather than generic options you can use to create your own characters. It just leads to a narrowing of narrative scope and boring armies that are all the same few guys.
yeah, this is my main gripe about current GW. It's all about named characters. Was much more interesting when it had the ''build your own hero'' appraoch

I can see the appeal, but I personally think that they've turned into a parody of themselves. They always had that ''crazy tehno guy'' theme going on, but these cavalry models just turned it up a bit too much for me. I think they would fit better in a game like malifaux or WWexodus than 40k

I can't stand the admech models. Individually they are very interesting models but they just appear so far outside of my idea of 40k aesthetics that I am having a hard time appreciating what cool models they are because I have such subjective dislike for them. Maybe some of you kit-bashers and expert painters can make something grimdark out of them (I'm sure you can) but with my limited imagination I just don't like them.
Hyped for new orks. Hope they get more than just an awesome Gazz but if that's all they come out with I'm excited for more Xeno LOW\primarch scale models.
I'm the most salty about the FW indexes getting re-done by GW. I'm hoping it isn't a cash grab like 90% of GW balancing efforts where x FW model becomes a must have for any functioning y army.
Anytime GW says they are going to try to balance something my wallet cries. Not that most of the FW stuff isn't poorly costed (many too high, a few too low) but GW has really lost all credibility with the SM and now PA releases and I'd rather not have to deal with another wave of power-creep game breaking "balance" changes from the great minds that brought us iron hands 2.0...

This is in one specific book series, one of the key points of which is that the Orks featured are abnormally large. There's already a size distintion between different levels of Orks in the current range.
GW not keeping a lid on hyperbolic descriptions in BL material then people latching onto it is how we ended up with stupid giant marines. No need to do it to Orks too or people will start complaining about Marines being too small and the whole cycle keeps going round until everything's the size of an action figure.
