Just noticed that the new "House of" books bounty hunters appear to give a D6x10 reward for capturing an enemy fighter rather than sale to the guilders. Looks like a pretty good improvement.

It is a solid upgrade from the N18 rules, which even stated that the Bounty Hunter received those credits! But it has been consistent since Goliath in January, so not exactly a new update.

I assumed that, but it's the first "House of" book I've got my hands on. Between that and them always turning up in addition to your crew, bounty hunters really do look potentially usable.
Scum are still rubbish though.

Then they're still worthless. Better off buying more people for your own gang that: A). Stick around and develop. B). Don't run off with the guns you bought them. What idiot thought that these hired gun rules made any damned sense?

Technically, you didn't give them guns. It's still part of their fee in the end.
And it's only for campaign mode when you don't use other rules for implementing them they look less incentive. In Skirmish Mode, since you play only one game anyway, it's actually interesting to take Hired Guns because they can be cheaper than gangers in more than one occazion.
It's just a matter of point of view.
Anyway, it's true you tend to give them low equipment, especially for Hive Scums, so that they can fill their hapless fodder cannon job for the price of a juve.

Go Nacro Lord and get 4+ Hive scum + guns, for free. Hired guns, like Guild buddies, are not affected by deployment rule, so they're always there. They're kinda meh and risky investment in early campaign. But good/okayish in late. In late campaign most gang no longer have guild buddies because their rep got too high.

The juves come back next battle if they manage to survive, though. For no extra fee.
But as Chopstick says, I could maybe see them get some use late campaign.
...which is kinda contrary to what one would expect, but there it is ^^.

They made the guilder for the early campaign already, also somewhat help a new gang in a late campaign.

What's interesting is these look like they are plastic not resin. Or at least the detailing on them is far more bold and chunky compared to the original designs
Interestingly the original designs do (at least the one on the left) look closer to the artwork
The new ones have gone for a much more chunky muzzle that looks like its come off a sabretooth or tiger. Meanwhile the tiger influence plays out to the rest of the body and they've lost some of that spiny fur along their sides, which is part of what makes me think they could be plastic instead of resin or resin that isn't taking full advantage of resin.

Ohh good call on the hyena! Yes the muzzle does resemble a hyena structure a bit. Esp with that very hunched forebody following right after!

If it was plastic they could have made the Khimerix instead, who is an independent fighter.

Nasty. Will be getting these pretties for my venegful ladies.
And to echo the poster above, definitely a plastic vibe from these. Maybe a combined Phyrr Cat/Khymerix box?

I'd be down for 2 cats and a Khymerix in the same box. Even if not it might suggest that the Khymerix is heading toward plastic at some stage.

It'd make sense to do a combine box for the Escher. The Khimerix would be at least be Ambot size so one of those and a few Phyrr Cats would work. What else would they stick in there? Unless they're planning a critters set.

Hell, not just for the Escher. They could work them in as a 'generic beasties' thing for some campaign stuff.

Lore wise Escher are supposed to be the faction that brings the most beasties to the battlefield since they specifically import a lot more beasties than the others for use in things like circuses and fighting pits.

warl0rdb0b wrote:I think the mouths on attempt one were better, but overall these are vastly superior.
I think attempt 1 had greater unity with the concept art and did have finer detail on the faces and body. The claws were also better formed at the foot. The poses were a bit less than ideal, esp the rearing one, and whilst they might have been based on a proper position it wasn't an ideal pose for a static model. The new ones have less fine detail (to be expected if plastic) and diverge a bit from the art somewhat so its a new direction for them. I think the only real dislike is that the claws look a bit basic and seem to be missing some toes/claws (they've got 3 rather than 4 or 5). I think the jaws look huge and a bit oversize, but I also think that's a product of the photos and in person they will look good when playing at carrying the sense of power and menace that they bring to the tabletop. A more delicately detailed face might be more true to the original art, but at the same time might look a bit tame when you've tiny teeth (in comparison).
