I'm curious to see how this goes. I had Siege of the Citadel when I was a kid and thought it was too cool. Also I loved Bryan's work on Dark Age. It was one of the best games I have ever played, shame CMON killed it.

All that said this looks kind of suspicious.

I like Bryan, I'm REALLY interested in a resurrected Warzone, but I'm not sure if I've got the 2 hours and 15 minutes reserve of patience to watch it all right now!

From RPGNET by @Brother Jim:
1....Classic 1st Ed. looks, but updated for modern production capabilities.
2....The 5 Megacorps [Bauhaus, Capitol, Cybertronic, Imperial and Mishima] and Algeroth's Dark Legion to start out with.
3....Brotherhood and The Cartel and the other 4 Apostles of Darkness will be added later.
4....Each force will start with two unit types available.
5....The rules may be available for free.
6....Army lists will be separate from the rules.
7....They envision tables being 3 feet x 3 feet with 60%+ of the table covered by terrain.
8....Possible Kickstarter in 2021, but only if the rules and the basic troops are done.
9....Res Nova Games doesn't have a website yet, but they're on social media @ResNovaGames.

Thank you for that - much appreciated!

I do wish they had their own website up by now, but...

Well, yeah, I'd like that too. But keeping the original aesthetic does not prevent them from utilizing good proportions and reasonable posing.

When I was skipping around in the video, I do remember them specifically saying that they were going to do just that - keep the original aesthetic but not go crazy with the heroic proportions...

I mean, this looks pretty heroic to me, classic ham hands and all.

It ain't no Sister of Battle, that's for sure.

That’s not heroic. That’s modeled after a real person, Gus. Gus may not have his numbers or a lot to say, but he’s gentle with pets and can hold a pose long as you like.

He came highly recommended as a model model by his good friend, Gary Morley.

These chat videos are a little ineffective when they really need to show miniatures and gameplay first. After all, Warzone for a while now has just been conversation.

Dang it! I have been swinging by their site once a month or so and filling the cart with an assortment of character models and specialists that I always kind liked despite the old aesthetic.. but I could never bring myself to actually complete checkout.

The discount finally pushed me over the edge but some of those models are no longer available, including Mitch Hunter. Ah well, time to hit ebay!

Few highlights:
- no templates but still area affecting effects for grenades etc. (scatter too)
- special forces will be mostly similar when it comes to stats (because they are all well trainded humans), the difference will lie mostly in skills/equipment, so they will still feel differently (as they should, coming from a different Megacorps)
- morale will be not about the running because the firefight started (at least for the special forces - they are well trained professionals after all) but about someone being able to mess with you (like Dark Symmetry etc.)
- small forces made of variety of specialists (you can have a medic for example)

Not in this video (the only one shown so far is a Blood Beret you can see few posts above).

I doubt we will see any more mini previews until the end of the year. This one was announced so early that the ingredients were still in the packaging.

Gonna be a while before there is a cake to show off

Well, at least the gentlemen involved seem to be genuinely enthusiastic about the game, even if they have nothing of substance to show.

Then again, pretty much every iteration of Warzone had an enthusiastic crew behind it. That franchise paved hell twice over by now.

Sad but true. A product does not exist - and continue to exist - on enthusiasm alone. Time will tell, I guess

I'm a bit more confident in this endeavor due to the fact that it seems like those involved are Warzone fans (Bryan Steele is a games designer, who used to play Warzone and worked on Dark Age, and the Res Nova guy used to be a Crusader when Target ran things).

I also like the render of the Blood Beret. It seems way more paintable than the Prodos stuff (which looked nice, but drove me nuts when it came time to get them table-ready).

It doesn't sound like they're going with the flexible action point system that WZ 1–3 had, but I can overlook that if the game is as narrative as they're making it sound, and it plays nicely.

Highlights:
Action/Reaction system: Most models will have 1 Action token to spend for 2 standard actions (shoot, move, close combat etc.) and 1 free action (activates special skills (for example heavy weapon specialist will use the free action to not need to brace before firing HMG = not getting the negative modifiers for firing without using the standard action to brace), and 1 Reaction token to spend to be able to act in the enemy turn (like dodge, grab objective, shoot etc.)
2 point costs: Deployment points = standard point cost, regular troopers will have only this cost, low trained ones (like Ashigaru, Ducal Militia etc.) may cost just 1 point for a squad (they will activate together), and Specialist points = cost of including a specialist, more specialists will cost more points.
Damages: depending how bad you failed your armor roll, you will get a Pinned counters (harder to react or make lidership tests etc.), and Wounded counters (will reduce your effectiveness just as a any wound would do in real life, also if you will have as much tokens as wounds characteristic then your degree of damage will double = powerful weapons etc. may as well one shot kill you).

Any fig previews? I can't speak for anyone else but cool looking figs will get me to listen to info about the rules.

Nope. Confrontation, Warzone and such have a top place in my war-gaming life memories and Im fed up of incompetent trying to revive it and mess it up over and over again.

So just let the dead rest please.

Should clarify this that it's an Activation Token that gives 2 standard actions, just for additional clarity in wording.

Indeed! I've stopped plenty of times walking through a crowded games store to admire figs and terrain and ask about the game they were playing... but I've never been stopped in my tracks by a sexy wall of flavor text or an alluring stat sheet.

It's not that they're unimportant because they absolutely are to keeping a player interested both in the short and long term; it's just that they don't typically get the eyeballs looking at the rules in the first place.

No minis in this one. It was a video from the rules designer talking about IP and rules. Cool loking minis are important but when the rules are crap it means the game will die, and there will be no more cool minis Also for me background trumps both minis and rules.

So apparently the new game will be called Warzone Eternal. If I was a superstitious then I would think that they really want that the universe laughs back at them.

I continue to be amazed by how much effort goes into reviving a brand that continues to slam into the pavement every time it's brought back. I wish them luck.

Well, it died each and every time by the incompetence of the ones holding the IP. If it dies this time it will be for the very same reason.

Warzone is one of those games that defined a generation of wargamers, and has a setting that is reasonably unique, so I get where the attempts at revival come from.

Hell, if I had, say, thirty grand to lose, I'd go about it myself.
