Don't huy GW direct. Problem solved. People freaked out of the SoB box being limited too but I had no trouble finding dozens of copies locally.

Indomitus isnt going to be around forever, but its not going to be a limited edition either. I bet I could easily buy one if I wanted, even if I slept late on launch day.

The thing is, I dont even want the box. Indomitus has only one unit I'd field, so I'll pass on the bloat. The rulebook in epub is all I need right now. Its a bit sad that GW wont release the separate rulebooks until indomitus box is sold out, but I am an adult, I can live with it. I got plenty of hobby to keep me busy anyways, amd KT aint going nowhere.

Sometimes it feels like to some of yall GW is like a narcissistic ex you just cant get over. Harden yourself in stern resolve and commit to your choices, if the past is painful to you, let it go. We all got enough in our lives to deal with already.

If I'm not mistaken, won't GW produce free online rules, like they did with 8th?

Yes, and all the major German and English 3rd party online store pre-orders were sold out within an hour after the pre-orders came online. Same for GW. Local stores didn't carry many either, especially not in 2020 like I explained earlier. I'd say "all of the major English and German online retailers including GW itself" is a slightly bigger sample than "well the stores in my city had 2 boxes left on Monday".

All these people reckoning they will just be able to waltz upto a computer hours after the preorder and buy one are going to be severely disappointed. By making things limited edition GW is creating a huge demand for scalpers to buy literally thousands of these types of boxes at a time. This box will sell out the rage will be incendiary and GW will put a post up in the community site just like SOB. And then all the poor saps who wanted it will either pay the crazy Ebay prices or wait until 2021 to get the models when they release separately. The lumineth box will be a good indication this weekend that will be sold out within 4 minutes I reckon.

Haha, this is no my fear as well. I’m starting to think Indomitus is going to be around £200, or $3 million Australian.

Nice optimism. But when we have GW flat out saying it's going to be in limited in numbers and top of that have previous experience of such boxes going sold out in minutes resulting even those who have been online hitting F5 to see the item available right away STILL end up wth "sold out" before they got it...

The thing is designed to sell out so the GW gets more money out of pricier box before cheaper starter set comes(maybe in month's time). If it's easily available later then GW failed in what they are aiming to do. They WANT it to sell out. It's their business strategy. And for that effect they will print out less copies than you or I would do. They aren't aiming for everybody to have chance to get one.

Lol I actually thought the problem was with brick and mortar. A couple of posts had mentioned LGS.

I didn't realize we were talking about pre-orders.

I think you need to like breathe...

What better way to sell GW models than to say they are "limited time only" ... People like you are clearly freaking out about not being able to buy one of these. If you happen to be able to order one will you not do it straight away?
Sounds Like GW has done a good job with their marketing here.

Or are you telling me you wont buy one even if there are some available because they said it would be limited so you will wait until they are sold out ina few months so you can say "haha! I was right these were limited I cant buy one now. Dammnnn youuuu GW!!!!!"

This dude is the biggest troll account.

Every single thread this guy makes is about how terrible GW is.

Man, you want to level legitimate criticism towards GW, be my guest. But you don't even have a good point in your posts. You just spout doom and gloom.

You're like those hardcore bible thumpers on the street screaming about how terrible we all are and that the end is nigh.

Hmm. How can we be sure Icegoat isn't actually a Games Workshop plant trying to whip up consumer panic and create artificial demand?

Also, what are flagships in this context? I thought the idea of a flagship is that you only have one?

I suspect that GW with something like this would like it to be on sale longer, Even if limited its in there interest.

With things they consider less long term they want it to sell out fast to create that sense of Shiny get it why its hot.

The SOB was a huge success in this, its a good look despite how grumpy i got logging in on time and missing out >.<

The long term item will be the actual starter set(with measurement tapes etc). This is just to cash in more money taking advantage of it being limited. Cheaper long term start set comes later then.

I have a feeling stores in different parts of the world are treated in a different way by GW. For example to get w40k stuff, they wanted our store to order AoS stuff, but no one bought AoS stuff at our store and only 6 people played it. Created problems with getting key units like riptides, eliminators etc.

Stuff also comes late too. I got my PA book on the 25th of Feb, the last day of winter break. And on the 28th they closed all stores.

the idea that they would spend weeks previewing this as the next big thing, have two 1hr+ twtich streams about it, a new website, and god knows how many warhammer community articles about it, and use it as the platform for jumping into 9th - and then only make enough that they sell out on launch day?

OP has to be trolling.

That's the standard opus moderandi for GW though. Put out big box with extra price for being limited(with limited edition codex). then put up stuff to sale for cheaper(so cheaper actual starter set. Note this isn't even starter set meant for new players) later.

It's getting more profit than by putting up actual cheaper starter set from get-go. You get people pay up more this way.

its not the standard modus operandi for them to put this much coverage into anything that sells out within a day or a week. this is the launch set for 9th edition, it is not the SoB battlebox

the backlash from this if it was sold out day 1 would be so big they'd just go make more, but im sure they know enough about how well stuff sells that they've made enough to keep it around for at least a short while.

Oh dear.

OP, there is a factual difference between a Limited Run and a Limited Time boxed set.

Limited Run? Produce a set number of the sets. Once they’re gone, that’s yer lot. No more will be made. We see this in many markets. For instance, I bought a close friend a piece of silver jewellery, once owned by a well known model, of which there are but three in the world. That is a limited run. When GW produce ‘Collectors Edition’ doodads? Those too are a limited run. Numbered plates inserted in the front, and when the say, 10,000 have been sold, no more will be made.

Limited Time? This is very different. Here, the exclusivity is limited solely by time. Perhaps two or three months. The exact period is largely unimportant. What is important is that during that period, the manufacturer will simply go and make more to fulfil and match demand. It doesn’t matter if they sell 5, 50, 5,000 or 50,000 etc.

Now, Limited Time can come with the drawback that all physical stock is inherently limited. So whilst orders will continue to be taken throughout the period, there’s a fair chance there’ll be a bottleneck in orders once the initial physical stock sells through. Yet, as we’ve seen with GW repeatedly, all such orders will be fulfilled as soon as they can. Usually the delay is down to the printed goodies, as those aren’t printed and bound in-house. Sometimes in China, sometimes in Poland. But provided you place your order in the relevant timeframe they’ve chosen, you’ll get your Indomitus.

Example? Consider another gift for my almost-girlfriend*,of a Shane Dawson Pig Bag. He’s apparently a make-up youtuber she follows, who did a collaboration for merch. She likes him, she loves piggies (probably explains her confirmed interest in me). As do many others. On launch, initial stock sold out. Fast. And of course along came the Scalpers, buying up multiples and bunging them on eBay for inflated prices.

This product came up during our daily phone call Sunday night. Lo and behold, my accrued Looting Karma kicks in, and there it is, on his website. Right place. Right time. Order placed. So turns out it wasn’t a Limited Edition - just an item in super high demand on launch, and more have been made.

Do you see the difference?

*Not an e-girlfriend, if anyone cares! The almost bit comes because of Stupid Corona Virus preventing us actually going in dates and like, seeing each other. But seeing her this weekend. So there. She is real, even if she does live in another town!

Uuuh MDG...Are you aware that GW disagrees with you? It's limited print run. Once stock is gone it's gone. How long stock lasts is another thing. They claim biggest stock ever but of course previous bigger+1 would also fit and their limited editions have sold out.

You will get the models and (regular) rulebook from the actual starter set later though so you will only lose on limited edition rulebook and have to wait a bit but will get it cheaper at least.

Depends on the area I guess. We only got a few boxes and then it was out. YMMV when it comes to having access to the limited runs of box sets.

I guarantee this set will never sell out. It is an absolute certainty that GW have made waaaaay too many copies. As a result, there will be no decent starter set for years, all armies but Marines and Necrons will stagnate and die and eventually GW itself will fold. Mark My Words!
